cant believe it works lol. i’m building an sdk

I’m new to the sp404mkii and I’ve been practicing chopping the same samples as practice. Last night I chopped one and assigned to pads, everything sounded fine. Today, chopping the same exact sample, assign to pads, and the assigned chops all sound warped. All settings seem to be the same (bpm etc). I cant figure out what’s going on with the warped second version. Any insight would be great.

the drums sound so dirty and blown out, but somehow can be heard clearly. especially when it comes to using dirty, lo fi breaks with muddy low end, how can i make drums punch harder?

Here´s an album I made using the Roland SP-404 MKII and P-6 samplers. It´s all sample based and very lo-fi at times. Some very blatant sample loops are used sometimes. Sample sources are varied. Hip-hop influenced beats. Check it out if you have time.

as you can CLEARLY see, I have done gotten the adapter that I was told I needed in sequential order and still no sound! been trying for 14 days now. buying one adapter after the other provided by video tutorials on YouTube.. I'm returning it tomorrow. not the machine I wss expecting it to be. 1/5 stars. video

Basic chord progression from the Circuit Tracks sampled into the SP then looped.
Plan is to use the CT as a MIDI sequencer with my other synths, then use Doom - hopefully this will replace my DAW…

Took a break from the 404 for a while, picked it up

Right now the 404 is plugged in but Sunday I’ll put batteries in it. I’ve had this case for years but this my favorite setup I’ve had with it so far. Running a 170 bpm hypnotech set for my local porchfest in Athens, GA

Just finished this beat when I noticed the storm, so I rushed to set up and caught this on the first take. The sample almost sounds like it’s saying “afraid of thunder.”

Mexican Lofi

So basically I wanted to get into music production for a long time but didn’t have my own money to spend it how I like until recently. I was dead set to buy the MPC sample because I didn’t know there were (good) alternatives to Akai. At the moment I don’t own any hardware and I want to start simple: a sampler and some headphones (Adam Audio H200). I want to do this as a hobby, chop some samples, make some beats for my ears to hear, maybe my friends also.
My biggest concern is that I see a lot of reviews that say that if you want to make a complete beat you should buy the MPC Sample because the sequencer on the SP404 is frustrating to use and it should be used more as a live performance device.
I am more inclined to buy the SP404 because I saw that Roland updates the software often and it looks like they are treating it like a long term solution rather then the Akai approach where they release new devices every year (just like Apple does) and this is something I really don’t agree with. Also I hear that the SP404 is a more capable machine, and the Sample is more of a toy.
I want to hear your opinion on this and whether I should buy it or not as my main device? I am asking here because I saw that there is a lot of hype on the mpc reddit and here I think that situation is kind of settled.

PS: I don’t know if it matters for context but I have some music theory knowledge (I took guitar lessons for a few years) and also took a course in electroacoustics in college

i want to buy a 404sx, but i already have a 404mkii that i make full beats on. the 404sx is more for practicality and a "hands-on" kind of workstyle. how do i combine the both to make them work together?
