Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at Medical arts Deco building in Rochester, with a move-in date around late November or early December 2026. The lease runs through 7/31/27, and the arrangement is subject to approval by the apartment complex. I unfortunately lost my job and cannot afford to stay here.
Apartment details:
Rent: $1785/month includes apartment internet package
Layout: 1 bed, 1 bath
Size: 630
Move-in: Late November or early December
Lease ends: 7/31/27
What I love about living here:
Very walkable location near the coffee shops, restaurants, and local spots along East Ave
Bright, open layout with plenty of windows and natural light (I’m bias but mine has the best layout in the corner on my floor)
In-unit washer and dryer
Fast and efficient maintenance team
Responsive apartment complex team
In-building fitness center and a rooftop hangout space
Lobby renovations currently underway
Respectful community and thick walls that help with sound and privacy
A lovely mix of modern amenities and classic building charm
Pet Friendly
I’m honestly going to miss living here, especially being within walking distance of all the great coffee and food along East Ave. It’s been a lovely place to call home!
The rent is set by the apartment complex. If you’re looking for a place in the area and the timing works for you, feel free to comment or DM me for photos, more details, and information about the lease takeover process.

Has anyone had any issues with breaking a lease at the Metropolitan? Seems it would be easy to fill any vacancy and mitigate damages for a tenant that may need to leave. Ive read that management is easy to work with in these situations.

Spotted at South Ave & E Henrietta Rd.
Does Rochester actually enforce the NYS restrictions on campaign signs in the public right of way?
Throwaway account for reasons.

About 2:30pm. Intersection of 96 and Rowley Rd. Heading into the town. I was surprised. Not that you hit me, but how it happened. I noticed you behind be at the intersection where the Woodcliff entrance is. I noticed you then because you approached the red fast, faster than I expected. Thought you’d hit me then. And then I couldn’t help but notice each red we caught, past the mall, past Walmart, at the bridge. What I didn’t expect was while you didn’t hit me as we were stopping at Rowley Rd.
As we sat there, waiting for the red to turn green. BAM!!! You got me. The look of surprise you had on your face in my rear-view mirror said it all. You looked down at your phone for one second, but also took your foot off the break. I wasn’t surprised. The man in the truck next to me said he’d let us pass so we could pull over and do the thing. I thanked him, pulled forward and put my signal on to pull into Wendy’s or wherever was close. But you didn’t follow. You drove away….. So I pulled back onto the road, several cars behind you. I kept expecting you to realize I was behind you and pull off, but you didn’t, you waited till you realized I was the car behind you, and after you saw me take a picture of your license plate. But even then you quickly pulled(no blinker) into the Dunkin/ Salvatore’s plaza. I couldn’t follow because of the kids crossing the sidewalk.
Anyways…..
I hope you’re ok, I hope your car is ok. My vehicle is fine. As the father of a young kid starting to drive, I just wanted to plead to you, get off the phone. And slow down. This could have been so much worse. I hope this was a wake up call to you.
Well wishes, and safe driving. And put the phone down. It’s not worth it.

You don’t have people firing up, lawnmowers, leaf blowers, pressure washers, motorized yard toys, etc. all day every day.
People tend to not do much on the weekends or even on the weekdays after work and that tends to mean, it’s much quieter.
Now I fully understand there are people who are scared of quiet and that’s why they need to listen to music or have some kind of noise on in the background everywhere they go. I do feel bad for those people because that sounds exhausting.

If you’re someone on a cut and have a strict budget what are your favorite affordable finds? I’m a student but I commute and I want to pack my lunch to avoid buying out. I like to make sure I’m eating protien and fiber so I don’t go over my cal deficit. Thanks in advance.

I was going through my old iTunes account and found 2 songs I had downloaded (probably from YouTube) of a band called Her Name In Stone. I’m like 99% sure it was a Rochester band and I knew someone connected to them (that’s why I saved them). Anyone remember them and can shed some light? I can’t find any info on them anywhere besides the 2 tracks I have.

Really, I just want to know if we're being ripped off THAT much.
Long story short... we have a 35+ year old boiler that finally shit the bed. Our boiler started giving us trouble about 3 years ago (not turning off when the temperature was reached or not kicking on at set temperature). Two years ago, we had a well-known company give us a $14k quote for a total replacement. But, we're handy and frugal people and tried all of the things within reason to try to diagnose the problem and find a solution to maybe get a few more years out of it, knowing a full replacement is nigh.
Well, it's officially fried. We had a different well-known company come out and give us a similar quote, spec wise, for almost $16k. I'm not mad that it's more than what we were quoted 2 years ago considering inflation etc... The problem I'm having is that my (well-retired) contractor family is almost acting offended at the price and that we'd be willing to pay that much and not ask them do the replacement for "half the price". The reason we want to go with a well-known, reputable company for this is for the warranty, the guarantees, the professionalism, and the long-term service. So that if something goes wrong, it's not on us. Our home was built by the contractor that lived in it, and we have found that many things were done as a "quick-fix" versus proper repair for longevity. Thus, the boiler replacement is something we want veterans to install and maintain, knowing we may pay a bit more.
For context, its a ~3000sqft home with 2 zones, needs all new wiring, gas-fired 150,000 BTU and 84% AFUE boiler, and we're financing with 0% interest.
Knowing this, are we really being ripped off THAT much??

so, i just left a salon on monroe ave to get my gel mani redone. i recently dove back into the world of getting my nails done because i got a gift certificate to one on park, and i gotta say, i’m very quickly being reminded why i stopped getting my nails done in the first place.
no sanitation standards, drills on nail beds and cuticles, horrid gel application, you name it. my nails look like /I/ did them, and i’m sorry but the entire point of paying someone to do your nails is so they look better than how i would do it. yet, i know for a fact i could do a better job with regular polish. (maybe i just answered my own question and have to learn how go apply gel polish and stop going to these places, huh…)
ANYWAYS. does anyone have any recommendations for a nail salon that isn’t insanely expensive, but also does good quality work? and also doesn’t reuse nail clippers/files without sanitizing them first? and won’t drill tf outta my cuticles? or am i doomed to spending $80 at the del monte each time i want a decent fucking mani?????

Thinking about joining the Y here and saw they have a 20/20 referral program.
Basically, if a current member refers a new one, we both get 20% off our monthly dues as long as we both keep our memberships active.
Figured I'd see if anyone on here wants to link up so we can both save some cash. On signup I just need to put a name it looks like.
Also, if one of us eventually cancels, the other person gets 30 days to find a new referral buddy to keep the 20% discount going. You can refer as many people as you want
Shoot me a DM if you want to set it up!

I saw my daughter on a spectrum news story they did about the homeless. I’ve contacted spectrum and some shelters/outreach places, but I have come up short.
She has no way of getting in touch with me as she doesn’t have my number or address. We’re from Buffalo. I still reside there.
My heart breaks everyday for her. I’m afraid that I may never see her again.
I don’t have a car or I’d be in Rochester at the outreach centers looking for her.
I don’t have the funds or I would hire a private investigator
Any advice?

If you want your show to be considered for the list, please use the submission form (link in my bio and on TheSoundRochester.com) - if you did not submit your show, it may not be included. If you’re not included in the list, please don’t take this personally, I’m human and sometimes I miss things.

This handsome 4 month old grey boy is equal parts cuddly sweetheart & absolute fucking menace.
Opie is a little character who keeps us laughing every single day. Basically he's never met a stranger, a curtain he didn't want to climb, or a chicken nugget he didn't want to steal. He's FULL of energy, endlessly entertaining, & incredibly affectionate. If he's not busy causing chaos, he's guaranteed to be curl up with his people soaking up all the love he can get.
Quick list of fav hobbies:
• swinging from curtains like he pays the mortgage
• grand theft of chicken nuggets
• believing he's just one of the dogs
• wwe kitten smackdown
• greeting his foster parents at the door like he's been waiting his whole life
• YELLING if he doesn't feel he's receiving adequate attention
• champion drawstring chasing
Opies comes to you up to date on vaccinations, neutered, FeLV negative, dewormed& flea treated.

I wish the days would slow down a little. But until they do, I’ll keep taking pictures.
Two photographs from each month of 2026 so far. Looking back through them, I keep thinking about how much happens while we’re busy getting through our days. The snow melts. The trees fill in. We complain about the heat, and suddenly we’re reaching for a jacket again. Somewhere in between, another piece of our lives becomes a memory.
And Rochester is there through all of it.
Being a photojournalist has given me a thousand reasons to carry a camera. Loving this city has given me a thousand more.
I hope these photographs make you pause for a moment. Maybe recognize a corner you love. Maybe see something you’ve passed a hundred times a little differently. Maybe remember where you were, and who you were with, when the year still looked like this.
Rochester, thank you for giving me so much to hold on to.
Your friend, LittleBurdi
