No more reboot wishcasting posts
Hey gang,
Like all of you, we were surprised and saddened by the news that the planned Power Rangers revival for Disney+ was canceled.
Since then, we have seen innumerable threads wishcasting ways in which the show could come back. They are very repetitive and crowding out other posts about other things that are going on in the world of PR, like the comics and toys. For the time being, we ask that you confine discussion of the show's future to the other sticky about the news, or other threads along that line.
Going forward, threads like those described will be removed under our rules forbidding low-quality and repetitive posts.
Thank you for your understanding. We welcome your questions and feedback.
Love,
Mods

SHOW NEWS/DISCUSSION Time Force Can Reboot the Entire Series Perfectly
With the recent news last summer of a Power Rangers reboot being scrapped by Disney+, the possibility for a new series releasing anytime soon appears to be at an all time low. Whether that seems to be related to budgetary concerns, a perceived lack of audience interest, or lack of faith in the brand in general, I believe I have an idea that can bridge the gap between veteran fans of the series while bringing in entirely new, younger eyes.
Time Force is widely regarded as one of the best and most beloved seasons of PR. I am currently revisiting it and it is very easy to see why: it has an incredible concept for a team of Rangers, phenomenal characters with easy-to-invest-in interpersonal relationships, fantastic fight choreography, and a clean, futuristic visual aesthetic that extends to their suits, weapons, vehicles, and villains that doesn’t immediately date the look of the show.
Most importantly for the purpose of my idea, the show has limitless possibilities since it is entirely focused around time itself.
My concept involves the original team of Time Force Rangers coming back together again to face a new evil that threatens to destroy the universe (that being the 30 years of the current PR timeline and continuity). The team would obviously consist of the original actors reprising their roles, which will allow them to be more experienced, wise, and weathered from their years of service in the force. The series could take on a more serious tone while still including moments of levity and camp the series is known for.
Not only would fan-favorite actors return to iconic Ranger roles (like Wesley, Jen, and Eric) but we would witness a highly-resonant reunion between Wes and Jen. We know that all Ranger teams (with the exception of RPM) co-exist in the same universe. This allows for other Rangers to cameo in the show as they travel to different eras of time, which can serve as a love letter to other well loved seasons and the series as a whole.
The show’s climax would involve the villain almost succeeding in destroying the main universe (the specifics of how and why isn’t integral to this general concept and can be determined later) but the Time Force Rangers would prevent that from happening by sacrificing themselves and the prime timeline and reset everything, therefore resetting the entire PR continuity.
The show could then restart entirely with a brand new iteration of Mighty Morphin’ that is visually and thematically updated to fit contemporarily in the 2020s. I know there will always be a lot of love for the original MMPR but there is no debating that it is highly dated to the 1990s. That does contribute to the charm of the original (American) series but I also feel like it is not as interesting or inviting to kids nowadays. The new, rebooted MMPR will feature updated storylines and a visual aesthetic. The suits and Zords are timeless but it would be interesting and nice to see an updated, modernized take on the look, in the same vain as how the BOOM! comics did so.
Not only could the brand new series of MMPR create new stories, they could also remake iconic ones (like Green with Evil) with modern twists. This also extends to entire seasons of PR being remade and updated (i.e., In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, etc.) or create entirely new seasons within a new PR continuity.
From a production standpoint, it’s well-known that PR incorporates Super Sentai footage to bring down costs for markets outside of Japan, so these new seasons would either have to be shot entirely with original, American footage, or they could possibly work in-tandem with Japanese production teams to still share footage. However, the precedent to shoot entirely original footage for an American series already does exist.
I feel like this concept could be a great sendoff and homage to the 30 years of Rangers we’ve had while passing the torch to the next generation with a clean slate!

FAN CREATION People who attended the It's Northing Con pop-up event from earlier this year, what was it like, and do you have any hopes for the actual convention next year?
I'm a Canadian fan, so I'm SO excited that there is going to be a Power Rangers convention in Canada. I plan on going next year, but before I do, I'd like to know if the pop-up event that they held was any good, and what should I expect at this convention

One funny thing I noticed in the Time Force opening is that they use a part of the Super Sentai transformation that isn't the same as Power Rangers'.
That's funny because they didn't notice that in the final edit, or they noticed it and left it anyway.

Was Dark Specter always the boss of Zedd, the Machine Empire, Divatox, etc.?
Dark Specter is fascinating in that we know next to nothing about him. But in Linkara's Season 2 HOPR video he talks about Rita being revealed to have a boss, and then said "what's more is that we later learn that even Zedd has a boss." I assume he was talking about Dark Specter, but was that always the case, or did it only happen after he captured Zordon?

Reading Question
Hey, new reader about to start the series, but I am currently waiting for the GGPR copendium next month and bought the new MMPR Compact. My question is, since I'm doing TP, do I need to buy individual tp volumes, or can I just buy the event tp? Like, was the compact worth getting if I can just buy The Rise of Drakkon event tp and similarly with Shattered Grid and other arcs. I'm looking at an updated reading guide, but the different event tp make me question if I can just buy those instead of single volumes.

What are some stupidest ways a Ranger or Rangers where defeated by a villain.
The way Troy was defeated in the episode Last Laugh. Nojoke the Monster of the Week manages to take Troy down with a fart joke. You mean to tell me that Mr. Cool Guy Troy finds far jokes hilarious. I know characters have flaws, but this just feels so out character and just humiliating moment, that it’s just super embarrassing to watch.

A couple of my Power Ranger/Tokusatsu shelves.
Some of my loose Power Rangers/Tokusatsu figures. Gonna eventually deck the back and sides of each display with something but for now, I just like having them where I can see and enjoy them.

How the hell did I figure this out?
Ok, so I’m currently watching Power Rangers RPM and I delayed it briefly to watch something else. During that delay, I thought that Tenaya might be Dillon's sister, and well, I was right.
How did I figure it out? A lucky guess?

SHOW NEWS/DISCUSSION Change Zack, Kim, and Trini's animals to ACTUAL DINOSAURS
We all know that only the Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus are the real dinosaurs in the lineup. So, if Zack, Trini, and Kim were to have their animals changed, what REAL dinosaurs would suit them? Pick some potential candidates for them.

What's your favorite thing in power rangers that you could tell only exists because of them being lazy with the Sentai footage. I'll go first.
I remember watching Megaforce when it first debuted, and I was EIGHT and even I kept thinking "Why aren't they using their ultra powers" when they fought Admiral Malkor. Only to learn later on that Super Sentai exists and they fought Admiral Malkor's sentai counter BEFORE they got their ultra powers and roboknight in the sentai. Because in Tensou Sentai Goseiger they fought all of the factions one at a time, and one faction didn't exist until the previous one was destroyed.

The implications of this scene is crazy and disturbing
Wherever the hell Venjix was throwing people in, that pit implies that people are thrown down there and are literally turned into robots or cyborgs. It must be painful for the victims. This whole thing is disturbing as hell if you think about it.
