WPL: New Comics Discussion for 10/14/2026- Pull of the Week: Doom Patrol #2 [Discussion]

The [Weekly Pull List results]() for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Doom Patrol #2.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Doom Patrol or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.

Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Happy weekend, everybody!

In this thread, you can talk about:

  • What you've been reading this week
  • What you've been watching this week
  • What you've been listening to this week
  • What you've been doing this week
  • Basically anything that isn't overly offensive or anything like that. I don't know, be "responsible!"

Having covers that have characters that aren't even in the book is one of the worst current trends in comics.

• Upvotes

For example. The Muppets cover on all the Marvel books. Or the Kingdom Come covers coming at DC.

Those theme covers.

They make some need art, but there needs to be a different way to use this art than to confuse customers who buy comics based on covers.

Discussion Best comics to read a while drunk?

I am absolutely toasted right now on every level. And I wanted to read tonight, but I can't read anything serious because I probably won't remember it. So I just want to have a good time right now.

Discussion What comic characters exude 70s vibes more than any other character?

Title really says it all. We often see huge lists of characters who are obviously a product of the 90s, but what about the guys from 20 years earlier? Who has the most 70s-coded vibes in the medium? I say in the medium but I guess I mean the superhero genre, though adventure, horror, westerns, sci fi, romance, etc are all acceptable. Who comes to mind? Late 60s and early 80s are acceptable, within reason. Would love to hear from people who were there, too, if any might be reading.

Question Whats the most mindfuck trippy thrilling psychedelic comic/graphic novel?

• Upvotes

So I'm just starting my journey to read graphic novels and first i wanna read something absolutely reality altering trippy stuff, like i just sit there is awe of what craziness is going on and won't be able to put it down at all, also like we don't have a big comic or graphic novel culture in my country so its kinda difficult to get my hands on some of the old stuff so ig newer things would be preferred.

Thank you!!

Discussion Do y’all read all your singles as they come out, or do you save them up to read in chunks?

I’m currently reading DNX along with its X-Men and FF tie-ins. It’s my first time reading any X-Men or FF stuff and I’m enjoying it so far for the most part. It’s also the first title / event with tie-ins that I’ve bothered to collect and keep up with.

But we’re about halfway into the event and each week I keep finding myself having to go back and look at or even completely reread previous issues. I’m seriously debating just putting it down until I’ve collected the whole run. I think it’s 12 issues total between the three titles.

How do y’all tackle longer events and tie-ins like this?

What happened to the Cobblepots?

• Upvotes

So I was recently looking into Penguin as a character who I might be writing for an upcoming fic. While doing this, I saw that he has 3 brothers? Jason, William, and Robert. All of whom are listed as deceased. From my understanding they only appear in Penguin: Pain & Prejudice. If someone owns this book or knows what happened to the brothers, please let me know!

Arkham Asylum Sequel Artist?

What are your predictions for the artist doing Grant Morrison’s sequel to Arkham Asylum?

A while back it was planned to be Chris Burnham, but we don’t know if that’s still the case.

My ruminations:

Liam Sharp - good, recent working relationship with Grant and has an intricate style that could capture the insanity required.

Doug McKean - this sure would make more a headline worthy event (as if it wasn’t already) and a blast from the past but I sort of doubt McKean is interested unless he’s somehow gone broke.

Kelley Jones - depending on the concept I think this could be a really cool choice. I don’t think we’re in for a book that necessarily feels like the original. I expect Grant to take us somewhere new. Maybe a more cartoonish vibe could fit. I guess I just think it’d be a cool team up.

Bill Sienkiewicz - if the book does end up trying to recreate the essence of the first book than I think this may be the closest we could get from a known comic artist.
