First time on track with the GT4!

High Plains Raceway in Colorado. The GT4 is basically all stock (minus Girodiscs/Ferodo DS2500 pads) and running PS4S tires. My fastest lap was 2:02.04 with some mistakes (optimal lap of 2:01.58). I think I can get to 2:00 with a few more sessions, but probably will need better tires to go sub 2!

For reference, my fastest lap in my 630 hp 991 Turbo S was 2:01.69.

I have the new Macan GTS EV as a loaner for a week, any questions you might have about it, I’m happy to answer them. I have driven the ICE as well.

Haven’t seen him post a video in over two months. He was sorting a problematic 996 GT3 and had just teased purchasing a 991 GT3.

Who is the Panamera really for?

• Upvotes

I was looking at Panameras a few years before I got my 911.
I thought it could be a great combination of a family vehicle and a fun car to drive, but after looking into it, it didn't really meet our needs, so we never pulled the trigger.

For anyone looking for a family vehicle, I think the Cayenne makes a lot more sense. It's more spacious and practical, while still offering an engaging driving experience.

I've often seen the Panamera compared to the S-Class as a luxury sports sedan, but personally, I don't think they compete in quite the same league when it comes to luxury sedan practicality. The Panamera doesn't offer the same passenger space or cargo capacity as something like an S-Class or 7 Series.
It's also not a 4 seater sports car like the 911.

Panamera might be a little of a sports car and a little of a practical car, but also - it's neither a sports car or a practical car IMO

For people who own one (or even input from those who don't)
Where does the Panamera sit, and who is it for?

Are TPMS for 2012 Servicable?

I just bought a Carrera S - and the seller had spare rims (the original rims with PS4S) mounted, 4 year old rubber.

Anyway - for track use I threw these one and I am getting zero TPMS response when I try to relearn. So, if original - not surprising if the TPMS sensor batteries are kaput.

What so what does a TPMS "Service Kit" do?
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/tpms-valve-stem-huf-rdv026

- the stems have a significant external metal portion that I assume is all pard of the TPMS. But the batteries are reported as non replaceable.

Is there anyway to confirm the batteries are indeed dead,

An if the service kit is "worthless" in this case, I guess I need to have the tires unmounted, TPMS replaced and re mounted and rebalanced, etc. ~

Do I need Valve assy? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/porsche-tire-pressure-monitoring-system-sensor-valve-assembly-genuine-porsche-9p1601361e

or more?

This is how the ones on there look now

Just trying find out if I can DIY this or need the full tire service and $100s of DM
