Today I just happened to be driving by with some free time. Stopped in to see if they had any cheap Carddass cards and saw this! 80% off!!!

I’ve never graded a card in my life but it’s already on the way to TAG along with a Masaki card I got from the same store a year ago!

I think I’m going to make the store a weekly stop!

Picked one up today for my daughter and I… she loves anything Mew. The smiles were well worth it.

Edit: I got ”smoked” because I decided to pay $140 for the only ETB I found in stock at my local shop. I don’t have the ability to sit outside Target for 4 hours. We’re happy with the pulls.

With all the craze around these cards, thought this might be appreciated.

My son is 15 now. When he was ages 5-8ish he loved Pokemon. We played Pokemon go, he collected cards, watched the show and movies, etc.

Last year, he sold around 25/30 cards for a little over $2,500 to purchase new golf clubs, a basketball goal, basketballs, etc. Traded in his legos, Disney Lightsabers, and Pokemon cards to fund his new hobbies.

He has cards from 1999 (inherited), cards he collected in the 2015-2018 era, and he briefly got into it a few years back again (he even bought a few packs just this year, still not sure what motivated that).

Anyways, I decided to binder some of his favorite cards from when he did collect. And just some cards that were familiar to me from playing pokemon Go and the shows/movies we used to watch. Took me all day to sort through them all. He has thousands, I probably didn’t pick the best ones, but the rest are still in boxes and tins.

Nothing really valuable so it’s not a big deal (the Rayquaza is highly damaged, a few others have creases)…but I wanted to preserve a binder for when he has kids. Who knows what the hobby will look like in another 25-30 years.

Nothing for sale, it’s going into storage with other keepsakes…Just thought I’d share :)

Yea yea I know it’s cheaper to buy it single, but that’s no fun 😜. Also I need to finish my 151 main set (not including the very rare cards) i’m so close! Side note I am happy to see 151 is dipping in price.

Had fun opening these with the kids. We love the designs on these cards.

I collect HP/DMG cards and this one works so well with the damage!

We moved from Pensacola, Florida to Misawa AFB, Japan in May of 1997 right after school ended. I was playing my Super Gameboy at this time, with my favorite game James Bond 007. When we got to Japan, there was no base housing available for us yet so we lived off-base in a Japanese house. In those first couple of weeks and months, we would walk around the tiny town of Misawa, shopping, eating ramen and exploring the new country. 

Well, since I was playing Super Gameboy, I saw these two games for sale all over the place in every electronic store and the big mall (the Sky Plaza Mall, which is still there). One of the games was Red with a GIANT red dragon on it with fire coming out of its mouth, and the other was a Green game with a GIANT toad looking creature on it with a flower coming out of its shell. Naturally, as any 9-year old would, I asked for those games. They weren’t in English, either. The games were also advertised on the TV, in Japanese. I didn’t understand anything they were saying but I remember what they were called….. Pocket-o Monsta….(in a Japanese voice.)

But wait, there were also these small packages of cards for sale right next to the games as well. At this time, only the first 2 packs were out, the Base Set and Jungle Set. The Fossil set came out in June, then Rocket Gang in the fall. I can remember the Base and Jungle sets being sold everywhere, I’m talkin’ every electronic store, every mall, the little corner markets, gas stations. Everywhere we would go, I would be on the hunt for Pocket-o Monsta!! There were no limits to the cards either, I remember going into the Sky Plaza Mall in Misawa and there would be tables full of opened Booster Boxes and you could grab all the packs you wanted. 

I lived this. This was the most magical experience of my life. The artwork of the cards and the games were inspired by the very place I lived, and the cards looked just like my surroundings. Kanto, Misawa, it’s like they were the same. Misawa is also a very small rural farm town, peaceful and quaint. 

We left Japan in the summer of 2000, back to the mainland, east coast. I briefly traded a few of my new friends there for their English cards, for the cards I still needed in my set. My goal was to have one (1) of every card, because that was the point….”Gotta Catch ‘Em All!!” This binder is the most important thing I have from my childhood, and now the most expensive thing I own. I take them out and touch them (with clean hands) every now and then. I will not grade them or slab them or whatever. They are my cards, I know that every card I have is real...because I opened them, or traded my friends who had just opened theirs. My cards are easily Mint 7 and above. I didn’t play with them…I didn’t know how to??? My friend Patrick and I briefly tried to, but we would just guess what they said. But I knew how to count to 150, so I put them in order.

- I have never bought a Pokémon card
- I have never sold a Pokémon card
- I have invested $0 into my collection
- I will be buried with my Pokémon cards. 
- I will not grade my cards

I stopped collecting shortly after moving back to the States, went into middle school, thought it wasn’t cool anymore. Got into music, guitars, drums, girls, that funky plant…you know the rest. When I think about it, I’m one of the oldest Pokémon collectors in the world. There’s only a handful of Elementary schools in Japan, maybe only a handful of kids collected when they first came out. And how many of them still have their cards after 29-30 years? That’s why I won’t grade them or sell them or anything, because that experience and memory isn’t something you can put a price tag on. I keep my cards in a waterproof binder inside of a fireproof safe. 

So, who wants to help me raise $2 Million so I can get the last remaining booster packs and booster boxes on eBay to finish my collection before some streamer buys them to open in front of a camera so they can make a quick buck? Stop ruining my childhood, please. The love of money destroys everything.

Just moved into my new house and found my old cards while unpacking. This is probably my favorite card I’ve ever had

I went to the mall yesterday and went in to hot topic to look around( our mall is being torn down), and I bought a shirt for my niece. I go to to pay for my stuff and thought that I’d ask if they had some Pokemon cards, and they had a couple of the 30th anniversary Knock Out Collection so I bought a box as well. Well opened the box today after work and to my surprise pulled the gorgeous mew out, I’m freaking out cause I have very bad luck with getting decent card. I can’t be any happier right now!!!

I’m going for a Cynthia complete collection and found this funny. These both came at the same time from 2 different vendors.

I was obsessed with Japanese 151 in 2023 I couldn’t stop ordering booster boxes. Was very lucky with my hits usually this was my first godpack ever.

eally love the artwork on this card. Groudon looks absolutely insane, and I thought it deserved a slab of its own!

Just to clarify, this is a fanmade/custom slab, not an official PSA-graded card. I just wanted to give it that graded-card display look. 😁

finally found some 30th anniversary and pulled the charizard!! haven't really been actively collecting since it's been so hard to even find packs. but im kinda proud of my little zard collection :)

Here’s mine…

My cousin worked at a movie theater, when the first movie dropped…. She got me TONS of packs… well, this is before we all figured out they’d be worth a lot of money in the future…. I threw out 50+ ancient mews, along with the other cards that I had so many extra of… and only kept one. ONE.

Bonus story: I used to put stickers on my cards too, so quite a few holos had a sticker on them that matched the pokemon (idk why I did it, stupid kid stuff)
