Meet Archer
Archer is my baby boy! He's 5 years old and started life a little rough.
He was found on the side of the road by a man who took him into his home and left him alone with two other dogs who attacked him to defend their home. Unfortunately, Archer killed the dogs while trying to protect himself and ended up pretty banged up, with stitches on his chest and front paws, and scarring on his back and tail.
The man came home and called the shelter, requesting that Archer be euthanized. According to the shelter, they didn't euthanize him because he had been put in a bad situation. They didn't see an aggressive dog. They saw a dog who was scared for his life at just 1 year old. They believe that before this happened, he may have been trained as a fighting dog on a local Native American reservation.
Archer was only at the shelter for one month before we adopted him. We were told he could never be around other animals or children. He just needed a loving home to show his true colors.
My husband and I introduced him to two kittens in a controlled, safe environment, and he was the happiest he could be. Those kittens are his whole world. He "raised" them from just 8 weeks old, and nothing could get between them. When our girl cat got spayed, he slept outside her crate for a week while she recovered. If the cats run outside, Archer will herd them back inside. He sleeps with the cats everyday and tries to play with them but his toys are the size of the cats.
We adopted a third car not too long after the first two and Mochi(Grey Tux) is his favorite! Mochi was raised by a cattle dog so he knows how to throw down. Archer and Mochi will "wrestle" which just means Archer rolling the cat around until the cat does little kicks on his face lol.
He's sassy as all get out. The sassiest dog around! He's also incredibly intelligent, which is sometimes a bad thing. But we wouldn't trade him for anything.
He's 100 lbs. of pure muscle but squishy like a bulldog. He's noisy like a husky, and he has the heaviest blockhead around.

Rescue Bath time
He normally hates water, but if I get him in the bathroom, he will climb in the tub on his own. I just put a towel over the edge. Show me your pitties?

Rainbow Bridge 16 years wasn’t long enough 💔
Gosh, I don’t know what to say. I’ve just lost my childhood dog last Friday. It’s so weird because the house was quiet when she was here but now it’s even quieter- besides my french bulldog that is snoring SO loud right now.
The night of, I went to the bathroom and left the lights off, I swear I saw her. It felt so real… I wish it was.
She was the best dog. I can’t believe she’s not here, it’s so unreal.
EDIT: Thank you everyone for the kind words, I really do appreciate those who took the time to comment. I know she’s up there thriving and I know i’ll see her again. <3

Cuddle Pup My dog loves my boyfriend
I’d been telling him all day that Matt was coming over so when the doorbell rang he got super excited. So I took him out into the hallway to wait for him. I know he jumps up a bit too much but that only happens when he’s super excited.

Rainbow Bridge Honeys lump is coming back already… how do you know when it’s time? 😔 we can’t afford another surgery nor do we think it’s fair to put her through that again.
I feel like she still has so much life to live but her body is betraying her.. everytime we have another lump removed, it comes back 10x worse.

Adventures Ladies and gents, Fern was finally cleared to walk today after over 2 months!! 🌿🎉
Seroma on her chest is barely even registering on the ultrasound. 😀 Her vulva rash is gone. She said her histiocytoma was healing up nicely. Fern has had a bad ear wax problem in her left ear that I’ve started doing maintenance cleaning for the past 3 weeks. Vet wants me to try transitioning her to a different protein dog food to see if that helps.
As far as walks go, she wants us to go on short walks for the next 2 weeks and slowly increase our time. If her seroma doesn’t return then we can do 3 miles again after 2 weeks. Our first walk was just 5 minutes and it was right as we walked out of the vet’s office. She was so excited. 🥰
She is 46.4 pounds when they weighed her today, that’s a 2.4 pound increase in exactly 2 weeks.

We’re trying her out
Testing Polly with our current dog (pit, Shepard and a lot of other mix). Less than a day in but going well.
We don’t know her story. Looks like a dog bit her muzzle and eye. We think German shepherd because we were told she’s not a fan.
