Submit your confirmations below!

How Does This Process Work?

Note: Confirmations may take a few minutes as the bot processes the confirmation.

After exchanging emails or letters, confirm that the user sent them by tagging their name, and then in the format of #-#, where the first number is email count and the second the letter count, post the number of emails and letters you received.

Example:

  1. u/digitalmayhap received 2 emails and 1 snail mail letter from u/thisisverytricky

  2. u/digitalmayhap posts a comment in the confirmation thread saying u/thisisverytricky 2-1

  3. u/penpal-confirmation replies to u/digitalmayhaps's comment indicating that their counts have been updated on their flair!

FAQ

  1. The bot didn't respond to my comment. What's wrong?

Did you follow the correct pattern? Follow the pattern above!

Give it a few minutes! Sometimes the Reddit APIs can get a little overworked and start having issues. If the issue persists for more than a few hours, please message the moderators. The bot might be experiencing issues!

  1. I have multiple letters/emails I exchanged with multiple people to confirm this month; should I post them separately or in a single post?

Feel free to post them in a single comment or as multiple comments! If you post them all in a single comment, make sure to put each redditor on a separate line and to follow the proper format of u/REDDIT #-#.

  1. I forgot to confirm an exchange last month! Can I confirm the exchange this month?

Yes!

Snail Mail [22/M] Ready to write back to anyone — let’s trade long, honest handwritten letters about life, books, movies, and routine [Canada to Anywhere]

Hey everyone,

I recently rented a P.O. Box with one goal in mind: reviving the lost art of waiting for the mail and writing real, thoughtful, handwritten letters.

I'm looking for penpals from anywhere in the world, any age, any background. Whether you want to write once a month or exchange pages regularly, I will reply to every single letter that lands in my box.

A few things we can talk about (or completely ignore to talk about your own world):
• Stories & Cinema: I'm a huge movie viewer and reader, whether it's classic cinema, psychological thrillers, world cinema or diving into long books, I love dissecting what makes a story stick.
• Daily Life & Routines: Sports, work, college or just the weird little observations from an average Tuesday.
• No Small Talk Needed: Tell me about a decision you're agonizing over, your weirdest hyperfixation, the history of your hometown or the best meal you've had

Let’s make checking the mailbox exciting again!

Email [21/M] looking for someone to talk to in German

Hello,

I am from the US and am currently in my third year of University. I want to move overseas to a German speaking country after I graduate and have been learning bits of german through self-study throughout my time at University since my class schedule has consistently been too packed to have something more structured. Anyways I‘m trying to really increase my efforts and am hoping to find a new friend on here who speaks the language and can give me an outlet to practice and expand on what I‘ve been learning. Even if you don’t speak German please feel free to reach out. The whole pen pal thing always seemed really interesting to me and I want to meet new people.

I like to read, cook, bake, and talk to my girlfriend. I also like hiking but have hardly done it since coming to university since I‘ve only really had time for it during the school breaks. I also used to really like driving my motorcycle but I left it back home with family when I moved for university because the only thing worse than the roads here are the drivers.

Anyways that’s some stuff about me and what I‘m looking for from this. Feel free to reach out and we can exchange emails or something.

Reddit Messaging [31/M] US Sailor looking for connections while at sea

Trying again, because I'm lonely.

My name is Jadon, I'm from the Northeast Region of the US. I am a marine engineer on an oil tanker (yuck) in the Gulf of (Mexico). I spend 75 days out at a time, so I have plenty of time to handwrite letters, or emails. I'm also open to reddit messaging. It does tend to get lonely out here, my friends are not the texting type, so having some new people to talk to and update with the goings on out here would be nice. I also would love to learn about other peoples culture, hobbies, bitch about politics, discuss the universe, whatever.

I'm really big into all forms of mountaineering, whether that's backpacking, skiing, ski touring. Anything that gets me up in that crisp alpine air makes me happy. I also love photography and post processing, so I'd be happy to share some of the images I've taken. I get 6 months of vacation per year, so maybe some day we can adventure together!

Email & Snail Mail [28/F]

Hi. I love art, DIY, and reading books, particularly romantasy and historical fiction. I'm an extreme introvert who doesn't go out much at all, except to the beach which is a 1 min walk away from my home. I also love conspiracy theories, especially ones relating to different religions around the world. I love cats and I also love to watch historical movies.

I am open to snail mail and regular mail with like-minded people around the world. Please feel free to write to me if you share any of these interests!

Email & Snail Mail [19/F] US college student looking for friends!

Hi! I am here seeking out some penpals to talk to! Especially if we have something in common! For starters, I am a second year college/university student majoring in history. I love all sorts of history, but my favorites are ancient and 20th century history! I love researching, reading, and writing. Would love to talk more about this if you're interested!

As for my personal life, I live with one of my best friends. I am also in Greek life at my college! In my spare time, I love to travel, read, watch documentaries, listen to music and occasionally make some art. Personal expression and fashion are a big part of my life. I adore spending time with people that I care about, and I would love it if I could make some new friends here! I am open to most forms of communication. I don't have a preference as to who and where, but I don't have a lot of stamps (both domestic and international) as of right now!

I would love to hear about you when you message! Thank you!

Reddit Messaging [30/M] Rabbit dad, midnight stoner looking for connections

Hi,

I haven’t done this kind of thing in quite a long time now however my life has grown quite small and quiet socially. Which is totally okay, it gets lonely sometimes, I’ve decided to try this out again though.

I live in Adelaide, South Australia, and I work as a disability support worker. I have a pet rabbit that I’m pretty sure is an escaped meat rabbit. My interests include music, collecting records, weird esoteric things, trail walking, Crazy Frog, mma, books on cool shit, psychology, politics, shit going on right now, weird memes, gorgeous cliff faces at a beach, green stuff. I’ve had a pretty crazy life so I’m pretty open and used to talking about whole range a lot of different things. Queer friendly. Disability friendly. All that jazz.

Feel free to hit me up if any of this interests you. Thanks in advance, have a good one. :)

Snail Mail [30/F]

The fact that we call it “snail mail” hurts me just a tiny bit.
I am a married mother of three, animal lover, and seemingly living a hermit life. I’m not able to get out much due to helping my FIL with dementia (and other medical issues) and I’m new to my faith. Thrifting 11/10. I love the idea of someone setting aside time in their day just for me. I want to find purpose again and get excited to send off a little bit of my personality with each letter, continuing to grow in camaraderie. I love the outdoors and starting my self- care journey and I feel having others to connect with would be incredible. I would love for my ten year old son to have a penpal as well. You can call him Puffin. That’s what my late dad called him. I love laughing too. Also getting into reading books!
Ya boi,
Sylvan Saoryx

Reddit Messaging [24/M] Looking for a best friend, things are quite lonely

Hey! I've posted here before but haven't had much luck so far. And due to lonliness, things have been kinda sucky lately. Kinda being a star-sized understatement (cuz stars are big.. hehe). Anyways, excuse my awfully unfunny pun! You *yes you my possible future friend* probably has better humor than I. Im hoping to make long term friends who also love music like I do, I want a close connection with someone that lasts a lifetime! Hoping we can geek out about our interests and feel comfortable to do so! I'm in the EST time zone and am super into music (my tastes are all over the place, my favorite is the retro era but I also like a lot of new stuff too). I really wanna find someone who loves old artists and bands and music history and aesthetics! Hope you're all having a good day!

Email & Snail Mail [34/F] in USA looking for first ever penpal - snail mail preferred 🐌

Hi, how are you? I got into a really consistent journaling practice over the last two years and I'm finally getting back into reading for fun again. I greatly enjoy getting to know myself and others through writing so, naturally, I think a penpal would be a great next step. :)

About me: I'm getting through the last year of my master's program (hence the inability to read for fun for a while), while working full time in the arts and culture sector. I just got back from my first trip to Mexico City and am going to take a crack at making my own paper mache/cartonería figure this weekend or the next. Sometimes I take hand building classes at a pottery studio near me, and native plant gardening classes with a local Indigenous teacher of traditional ecological knowledge. I am also currently building my own 90s style website dedicated to the exploration of my interior world, and have been boxing on-and-off for the last two years. I don't think it sounds like it but I'm pretty outdoorsy. My friends would say I'm granola (eek!).

Some of my all-time favorite books are Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy, All About Love by bell hooks, and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley - in no particular order. I am drawn to stories that are deeply rooted in place or bring to light the complex relationships that constitute our realities. I just finished reading Men Who Hate Women by Laura Bates, and am currently reading You Dreamed of Empires by Álvaro Enrigue (I started this at the airport on the way to Mexico City but didn't touch it once during the trip haha. It was a great trip!). If Slingshot's 2002 article "Kill the Corporation in Your Pocket" resonates with you, we will probably get along great.

I'm looking for friends of all walks of life who also think deeply about who they are, where they are, why they are the way that they are, and cultivate a strong ethic around those questions. I would love to hear how you do that. How do you make ceremony of your life? How is that informed by your place in the world? Literally where you are, as well as your social and cultural context?

I hope my post doesn't sound so serious. Despite all the dark and contemplative literature I consume, I promise I don't need every letter to be a dissertation! Tell me whatever you're inspired to share about your corner of the world. I'd love to learn more.

Snail Mail [28/F] European looking for penpals!

EDIT: Hi nice people! A lot more people than I expected responded me and I'm struggling to keep up. I'll get to everyone eventually but my response time could be slow. Just a reminder, I'm available mostly for a letter exchange and dms are ok but I'm not available on the regular!

----

I love writing on paper and I am looking for someone for exchanging letters and chatting mainly.

I would like to penpal with someone very different from me, but here's something about me:

I live in the Alps and I really love the mountains, I'm big on climbing and hiking. I love nature in general and I'm a bit of flora&fauna nerd. That said, you don't have to live by the mountains, but I'd like someone that love the outdoors as I do, to share different experiences, photos, maps!

I'm also introspective to a fault and I always have some ongoing theme I'm pondering about. It would be nice to have someone matching my energy on that, even on different themes.

I love talking about books and writing (I'm in my romance and erotica hyperfixation timeline, but I read also other stuff, mainly fiction tho), but I like most kind of media, such as movies, videogames...

Also: love cooking. Recipes, photos and drawing of your meals, desperate letters full of longing for your favorite food you can't eat rn... Always welcome.

Feel free to DM me if you want to exchange letters!

The postal service in my country is really slow, so my only prerequisite is that you're patient! I would like a penpal my age or older if possible.

Snail Mail & Postcard [43/F] Am I expecting too much from penpals, or am I just having bad luck..?

UPDATE : So many of you replied, and I will try to answer to a majority of you. But give me some time :) It took me nearly four hours to reply to not even half of you.

Dear all...I think I need to get this off my chest and read your opinions about this issue .

I have recently fallen in love with the idea of snail mail. Not just writing letters or postcards, but the whole experience: choosing beautiful paper, decorating envelopes, adding little something, finding stickers and putting a little piece of myself into something I send across the world (preferably in Europe). I have bought so many lovely stationery supplies (the Pepin Press) and honestly -if you could see them all, you would probably understand why I'm so excited about this hobby..<3

There's just one problem - > I was hoping to find people who were(at least a bit)excited about exchanging letters as I am.....

I have contacted people who seemed genuinely interested. Some sounded enthusiastic at first, some said they would love to be penpals, and some promised to write. But then the conversations faded, replies became very short, or I found myself asking all the questions while the other person showed little curiosity about me. Sometimes people simply disappear.

I am not naive - I know nobody OWES me a letter, and I don't expect instant replies or a rigid schedule. People have jobs, families, busy lives <<-- trust me I KNOW!..and different ways of communicating (Perhaps my fault on my end not asking what’s going on, but I don't want to come accross as needy and annoying). I'm not looking for constant attention or a perfect penpal who writes beautifully crafted letters every week.

I just want the interest to go both ways. I would love to feel that the person on the other end is curious about me too and that we are both looking forward to getting to know each other gradually.

But after several disappointing attempts I am starting to wonder whether expecting too much.., choosing the wrong people, or taking things too personally.I wasn't born yesterday - I am aware that I don’t know these people and I probably shouldn't invest so much hope. Easier said than done, though, when you're genuinely excited about the possibility of making a new friend.

So fellow penpals : Is this just part of finding the right people (honestly harder than finding a new partner, although I heard dating these days is a tragedy impersonatd) ? Have you also experienced all the initial enthusiasm followed by silence? How do you stop taking it personally and how do you know when to keep trying and when to walk away?

I don't really want to give up on snail mail.. I still hold onto their promise they will write...and I still enjoy everything about penpaling. I'm just tired of feeling like I am the only one trying to make something happen...

I would really appreciate hearing your honest experiences. ♤♡◇♧

Edit : so many typos, my apologies :)

Email [25/F] Looking for penpals to share books, stories, and everyday life 💌

Hii, it's me again! :) 💌

I'm a (25/F)from India. I posted here a few months ago and got to meet some really wonderful people, so I thought, why not give it another try? Maybe I'll meet a few more people I can genuinely connect with. You never know who you'll meet or what kind of conversations might come out of a simple letter.

A little about me, I'm a huge book lover, especially when it comes to mystery, thriller, and horror. I love stories that keep me guessing until the very end, and I'm always trying to figure out the plot before the characters do. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm completely wrong, but that's part of the fun. 😂

I'm also a big fan of movies and series, particularly crime, mystery, and psychological thrillers. Sherlock Holmes and The Mentalist are among my favorites. There's just something about watching someone solve a case by noticing the tiniest details that everyone else misses. I love a good plot twist, and I'm always happy to talk about books, shows, theories, or anything interesting I've watched or read recently.

Apart from that, I'm just a regular person trying to figure out life, one day at a time. I work full-time, so I might not be able to reply every day. Sometimes life gets busy, and by the time I get home, all I want to do is relax and do absolutely nothing. So, I'm hoping to find people who understand that and don't mind a slower pace of communication.

I'd prefer exchanging proper letters maybe two or three times a month rather than having to reply to messages every single day. I like the idea of actually sitting down, writing about what's been happening in my life, and taking the time to read about someone else's. There's something nice about receiving a letter from someone who lives miles away and getting a little glimpse into their world.

I'd love to meet people from all around the world, from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. Tell me what life is like where you live, what you do on an ordinary Tuesday, what makes you happy, or what you've been struggling with lately. I'm genuinely curious about people and the little things that make everyone's lives different.

I'm looking for people over 18 who enjoy meaningful conversations but can also be silly and talk about absolutely random things. We can discuss life, books, movies, dreams, fears, or the meaning of existence one day, and complain about work, share embarrassing stories, or talk about what we ate for dinner the next. I'm not expecting every conversation to be deep and philosophical. Sometimes, the most ordinary conversations turn out to be the best ones.

I'm not looking for perfect people or extraordinary stories. I'd just like to meet genuine people who are willing to share a little of themselves and are interested in getting to know someone, too. Someone I can talk to about the good days, the bad days, and all the ordinary days in between.

And if you'd rather just have a casual chat before exchanging letters, that's completely fine, too! My DMs are always open if you want to talk to me. Just be a little patient if I don't reply right away, as I do have a full-time job and other things going on in life. And please be respectful. I believe a good conversation starts with mutual respect, and that's something I really value.

If any of this sounds like your kind of thing, tell me a little about yourself! Maybe share your favorite book, a series you could watch a hundred times, where you're from, or something random about your life.

Who knows? Maybe a little letter from a stranger could turn into a lovely friendship. 🌻✨

Email & Snail Mail [39/m] When I ask, "how are you?" I really want to know.

Emotions come and go as do the days that fall away behind us like shed skin.

Sometimes, times life can feel aimless like a scroll of clouds passing ambiguously overhead that we then try to scrutinize hoping to discern shapes in their form

I find myself hoping for human connection and so as when I ask people “how do you feel” I genuinely want to know.

Sometimes our feelings seem large, impossible and unique, such that hosting them in our souls makes us feel set apart from others.

But when we share ourself and commune with others, we find weren’t not alone as we thought.

Other people have similar feelings.

We're all human.

I'm a curious, creative-type, open minded and accepting. I choose kindness daily for myself and others and believe all humans are born with original goodness. I'm interested in art, social sciences, literature and current events. I like to write and do so daily.

I'm a passionate person and feel things deeply.

Let me know if you'd like to correspond.

Snail Mail [27/M] USA Gamer artist wants to send out game art to fellow game nerds.

Hello! As the title says, I'd like to send some gamer art to some fellow gamer nerds like me. (I sound like an alien making first contact) I'm into really intense RPG's and fantasy titles, and I usually make art of my avatars or items to help get into character or further develop a planned playthrough. Sometimes I even make maps and lists of useful nerd knowledge that will help make my gaming experience much more interesting!

Now most of this has been digital, but I need to get back into physical art. I'm most comfortable with pencils, colored or otherwise, though I've gotten better at pastels and watercolors. It'd be really nice to feel my work in my hands, and for someone to read and look at them!

I don't really play any modern stuff. I do have experience with Team Fortress 2 (a lot of it), Guild Wars 2, and MechWarrior Online, and I can tell you stories about those games for days and days. I might illustrate them too! I love any Elder Scrolls game, any Dark Souls game, Dead Space 1 and 2 (3 was a colossal disappointment), Fallout games, Terraria, Baldur's Gate 3, both Dishonored's. There's a much larger list, but then we'd be here all day.

For more recent nerddom, I want to get into Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Icewind Dale! I'm also excited for the new updates for Barony, and for WOW: Forever coming out soon! It's a great time to be a fantasy pointdexter.

Here's some planned and recent playthroughs I've been working on, if you want a taste of what you'd receive in my envelopes.

[Fallout 4]

I want to go on a Bobblehead hunt! Vanilla+ with a few mods, and try to collect them all! I have to play Survival Mode now, I can't imagine the game without it! Nerd tip: never, never drink Nuka Cola Quantum. Pretty to look at, very dangerous to sip. I'm already planning my route and perks. Now, I just need to finalize my modlist and character look and I'm set to go!

[Darkest Dungeon]

Just recently, in a current modded Darkest Dungeon playthrough, my newest recruit suffered a heart attack! The fish swordsman of the Cove got too intense for my rookie Shieldbreaker, named Vera, and she spiraled into hopeless darkness over the course of a few turns. She lived, but she'll not be adventuring anytime soon. I plan to illustrate her, with broken equipment, and her imagining those demonic scalethings and their salty cutlasses.

[Baldur's Gate 3]

Here's another one. I plan to finally beat Baldur's Gate 3. I've nearly beaten it many times, but never have gotten around to completing a full playthrough. My character will be a Archfey warlock, who's a half-orc named Gaul. I want to draw the drunk pixie that gave him is powers, and what his equipment would look like in my mind! I'm also eager to try this Barrelmancy I've heard so much about.

That's just a taste of all the nerddom I might send your way. You don't have to send any art (though an exchange of nerdy material is always welcome) I just want to know my stuff is looked at and held by hands that appreciate that kind of thing. Feel free to write your favorite gaming memories or recent playthroughs, I'd love to hear from ya! I might draw them too, within reason of course. Please no emails, I stare at a scream long enough throughout the day already. See ya soon!

Snail Mail [19/F] Pretending to be a journalist

Hello everybody!

Just recently, I've been wanting to get back into journalism. I'm planning on my career being a journalist in the city that I'll move to (still deciding between a few but they all have good newspapers.) I'm working my way up the ladder but I thought of an idea and I was wondering if anybody wanted to try it. I know it sounds awkward, but I don't have any other place to post this.

I'm really interested in what's happening around the world, and I'd love to hear all the top news in YOUR city, and in response I'd write about what's going on in Cincinnati/Ohio/northern Kentucky. Usually I am looking to connect with the individual people, and I know that's the main point of penpaling, but for this specific thing I will say I would not talk in a personal manner. I would write like a news reporter would, so I don't think you'd learn much about *me* specifically. AKA don't force yourself to love this idea, and don't comment if you really don't want to. I really only want to do this with somebody if they like the idea, too. I'm okay with getting no replies.

Don't be afraid to DM me or comment if you like the idea! My apologies that it is pretty untraditional.

Reddit Messaging [41/M] History Teacher in the USA seeking genuine connection with a daily or weekly penpal

Hi, there! I hope your day is going well! I’m a 41 year old History teacher located in the USA looking for a genuine connection with a penpal on a daily or weekly basis.

I consider myself a life-long learner, so to speak, and enjoy absorbing information about the world, other cultures, historical topics, geopolitics, geography, etc., often through YouTube and documentaries. I like to think I'm a reader, but the reality is I surround myself with more books than I'll ever actually read and mainly read during the school year when prepping for teaching. lol

I have a sports background, a passion for fitness, and would enjoy if fitness/healthy lifestyle topics were an element to our dialoguing. I'm not a personal trainer, but I'm happy to provide motivation, encouragement, and structure in that area if that is something you're interested in.

There are stretches in my day when I'm not available, and some weeks are busier than others, but I'd like someone who I can touch base with often, sharing moments from our day/weeks.

Bonus points if you are a bit silly, have a strong meme/gif game, and want to share music/movie recommendations .

I look forward to striking up an interesting back-and-forth!

Snail Mail & Postcard [26/F] Looking for some PenPals

Last week, I discovered a box of my late grandfather's belongings.

He used to travel abroad for work back in the 1970s and 1980s.

During his travels, he made some pen pals, even from places that don't technically exist anymore (e.g., Yugoslavia and East Berlin).

The box I found was full of letters he had received from those friends. I'm not sure how he knew them or whether they were his coworkers.

I travel a lot too, but I rarely get to make meaningful connections with people.

And even when I do, we never stay in touch once the trip is over. I was so moved by the letters my grandfather received that it made me wish I had something like that too.

I would love to exchange letters, share stories, and learn about each other's cultures. I'm from South Asia, I might even send some chai samples through the mail !

Reddit Messaging [29/M] Looking to meet some new people!

Hey! I’m mainly here to meet some new people, have some good conversations, and hopefully make a few genuine, long term friends along the way. I’m happy to talk to anyone, so gender really doesn’t matter to me!

There’s absolutely no pressure to come into my DMs with your entire life story either haha. A simple “hey” or “hi” is perfectly fine! I think it’s much nicer getting to know someone naturally as you talk rather than knowing every little thing about each other before you’ve even said hello.

I’m pretty chill, easy going, and an open book, so there’s really no need to overthink what to say. Ask me something, tell me something completely random, or literally just say hey and we’ll go from there!

If that sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to send me a DM. It’d be nice to hear from you! :)

Snail Mail [25/F] Artsy girl from the south of France who loves philosophy and art !

Hello,

I’m 25 and I’m from France.
My interests are:

- Nature, hikes, architecture, gardens, travels
- Fashion, makeup, house decor, flowers, trinkets
- Painting (my favorite painters are Odilon Redon and Egon Schiele), sculpting, music (my favorite artist is Nick Drake), books (especially XIXth century literature) acting, cinema
- Philosophy
- Politics/economics and reading/writing essays

Personality-wise, I have been described as “secretive” and “passionate”, I like discovering new things, I’m curious and routine is my biggest fear.
It’s difficult for me to get bored. I’m an introvert but I’m not really shy, i like solitude. I’ve also been described as “ambitious” and I would love to make a living with my art one day.

I have left beliefs and I prefer not to engage with anyone maga or far right, please respect it.

I would prefer a penpal from the US/UK or from Australia/Canada to practise my english but you can be from anywhere in the world, don’t hesitate to message me :)
