Mod Post r/OSU is looking for new moderators

Hey Buckeyes,

As r/OSU continues to grow, the mod team needs additional help. Over the last year, the community has grown by thousands of users, and the amount of posts and comments has gone up as well.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who:

  1. Has a history of positive and helpful interactions in r/OSU
  2. Is a current student at Ohio State
  3. Is regularly active on reddit

Bonus points if you have moderation experience, and/or if you plan on sticking around at OSU for a while (e.g. you're a student who has >1 year to go in their degree).

What do moderators do? What is it like to moderate r/OSU?

Moderators primarily approve/remove content in r/OSU, but there are opportunities to contribute in other ways (e.g. community engagement, subreddit styling, automation, etc).

This subreddit is typically pretty calm but there are occasional bursts of activity that may need more attention (e.g. on bad weather days or during a certain graduation speech). As with any online, anonymous gig there will also be occasional trolling and outright harassment from users. It can sometimes be stressful, so we wanted to provide a heads up. If you have any questions about being a moderator, please send a message to r/OSU.

How can I apply?

This year, we will be using the Reddit Moderator application. Please click this link to be taken directly there.

Please don't post applications in the comments or message us on modmail, they won't be considered.

What if I'm not interested?

If this doesn't sound interesting to you, note that individual users have a lot more power than they think! Continue to use upvotes/downvotes to determine what does/does not belong on this sub, and continue to use the report button for when rules are broken. And a sincere thanks to everyone who already does that, it makes moderating so much easier and our community that much better.

Decisions will be reached within the next two weeks, and new moderators will be reached out to directly. Applications may be closed earlier if we find what we're looking for, though. If you have any questions, please use this link to modmail the moderators. Please don't put applications in the comments, apply via modmail, or reach out to individual moderators via PM (the link provided goes to a shared inbox).

Thanks for being a great community, we appreciate you all!

Mod Post 2026 r/OSU Football Ticket Megathread

Please use this thread to buy, sell, or trade football tickets, or ask general questions about the football tickets.

Please read before participating:

  • All transactions in r/OSU are at your own risk, and moderators are not able to assist with transactions gone wrong. You can report them to the site, or contact the site admins if the other party violated the site rules. See this page from the Federal Trade Commission on what to do if scammed. You can also report scams to the Ohio Attorney General.
  • Per r/OSU Rule 3, personal info may not be posted in r/OSU, so please exchange phone numbers or emails over Reddit Chat. Please ensure that your account has chat enabled (see your messaging settings).
  • Exchanging tickets online can be risky. Ensure that the person you are interacting with is trustworthy, and consider meeting up in person at a public place to complete the transaction. You may also want to use a payment method that offers purchase protection in the event that the other person attempts to scam you.
  • If your ticket(s) sell: delete or edit your comment to indicate such. Additionally, please delete your comment after a game passes to keep the thread clean.

OSU Students can also elect to use TicketBay (iOS, Android), a free app built by OSU students/alumni for buying and selling student tickets from OSU email-verified peers.

Health / Wellness Quick mental health services?

• Upvotes

I have been having a bit of a rough time lately and I’m pretty sure I know what I have and I’m looking for help I could get as soon as possible. I tried the grad student cognitive therapy line but they said the earliest they could get me in is in 16 weeks. I’m embarrassed to tell the people around me and don’t really want to ask them or go somewhere full fledged where I’d have to tell my family and get insurance involved. Any ideas?

Academics Sp’26 Organic Chemistry Professors

• Upvotes

Hello!

I’m currently trying to schedule to take organic chemistry next semester and everything available either has Andrea Baldwin or Christopher Martin as the only options…. Will only these sections be offered? If so, who is best to choose? I tried to look up Dr. Martin on Rate My Professor but didn’t see anything about him.

I made an appointment with my advisor but it won’t be until the 21st so I wanted to make this post to ask ahead of time.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Admissions OSU Presidential Scholarship with a 1570

Post image
18 Upvotes

I'm an in-state high school senior applying to Ohio State, and I recently scored a 1570 on the SAT.

For a long time now, I've been looking into OSU's merit scholarships, specifically the full-ride opportunities, and I've seen that that the presidential scholarship has a requirement of a 1600 SAT or 36 ACT, so I dedicated all of my time to try and acquire this.

I missed the SAT requirement by 30 points, and I have no other chance before the early action deadline. I was wondering if there's any possibility anyone who doesn't fully meet the expectations receives the scholarship as well. I doubt I would be qualified for any other meaningful scholarship apart from one solely based off of test scores, as I have not been an exceptional student throughout high school and my SAT is by far the strongest part of my application.

I understand my chances are slim, but Ohio State is my dream school, and I am unable to attend without a full or substantial ride, so this scholarship is truly crucial for me.

  1. Has anyone ever received the presidential scholarship without a perfect score?

  2. Is there any possibility and exception will be made if I contact the right people?

  3. Are there alternative scholarships that could give me a substantial money off?

Question Halloween Parties?

Hi, I live off campus and was wondering what parties are happening on Halloween weekend? I’m hoping for 18+ events since I’m under 21. I’ve heard people say walking around is how you find them but is that really the best way? I was just hoping to go out and celebrate this Halloween and was wondering the best way. Thanks!

Academics What am I getting into (engineering)

Hi folks

Again, I’m shocked and blessed to get into OSU but I have to ask. What am I really getting into going into the EE program because based on what I see and what my intuition tells me. Engineering is hell at OSU, and the standards are high.

Further more, you do have support and resources for clubs, but that’s it. I’m going into electrical, but if there is something I’m missing, please tell me. I’ll be honest and say that 2 years ago, I was considering Michigan or Texas for their EE program, but did not bother as that opportunity close, until. This one opened, and I took it fast, not knowing what I got my self into besides. tOSU is a good school with hard academics, and a very prestigious football team. So tell me, what am I getting into.

P.s. it was literally made in a week I decided to go to OSU because the stars in the nova aligned for me to make one more exit opportunity with assurance (in the STEP program). It was literally in less then 2 months I did some small research, zoom meet the advisors, applied, and got in. Until I get the EE degree, nothing is for sure.

Social OSU Spring 2027 transfer

I am a freshman at Purdue studying Finance and Accounting, but I am thinking about transferring to OSU for the spring semester. The social environment here has felt disappointing, particularly under the dry campus rule, and I am hoping for a better experience.

I know the Fisher School of Business has a strong reputation and ranks highly nationwide. How are the business classes and professors at OSU? I am also curious about the party scene and Greek life, since I plan to rush a fraternity in the spring. Is fall rush more popular than spring?

Would transferring halfway through the year make it hard to meet people, or is the transition fairly smooth? Thoughts and opinions please.

Columbus Thanksgiving in Columbus - where to buy premade Thanksgiving meals

Hello, our daughter is an OSU student and my family will be coming from out of state to spend Thanksgiving weekend in Columbus so we can attend the big game. We will be eating Thanksgiving dinner at the house we rented for the weekend and need to find some local options where we can purchase a fully-cooked turkey and side dishes.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Go Bucks!

Help Showers at rpac, arc, and north rec

I’ve never used any of the gym showers and l’m kind of nervous. How clean are they? How private are they? How do you use them? What is the setup of the shower? Do you get dressed/undressed inside the stall or in the locker room? Where do you put your stuff while you shower? I’m a girl if that matters and I go to the rpac the most. Also sorry if this is too many questions I’d just like to know what to expect

Help For any pre-med or pre-PA students, does anyone know how to get CNA certification over winter break or before next semester?

I currently work as a student assistant at the Student Health Center and could become a Patient Care Associate if I obtain my EMT or CNA certification.

I'm currently exploring either the pre-med or pre-PA track, but I used to be pre-physical therapy, so I hadn't really considered getting my CNA or another certification over the summer. Now, I'd rather not wait until next summer to get certified, but I'm not sure if completing a program during the academic semester is possible with all my science classes.

I'm having trouble finding a program that fits winter break (December 18–January 12). I live in Zanesville, Ohio, about an hour east of Columbus, and I can also easily commute to Newark. I found a program through Alia Healthcare in Columbus that fits within winter break, but I don't have anywhere to stay in Columbus, so I'd have to drive about an hour each way every time.

Does anyone know of any CNA programs in my area that could work with this timeframe? Has anybody completed their CNA over the academic semester? What are my options here? Should I just do the Columbus commute?

Health / Wellness Affordable Dental Care at OSU – Accepting New Patients 2026!

Hi everyone! I’m a third-year dental student at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in Columbus. I’m currently accepting new patients and can begin scheduling appointments as early as November 2026.

Our student clinics offer affordable dental care, with fees generally 40–50% lower than the Columbus-area average. All treatment is provided by dental students under the supervision of experienced faculty dentists.

Services and approximate fees for patients without insurance include:

  • Initial exam (including x-rays): $180
  • Cleanings: $66
  • Teeth whitening: $159
  • Fillings: $79–$177
  • Tooth extractions: $114
  • Crowns: $571–$621
  • Root canals: $474–$725
  • Complete dentures (per arch): $765
  • Partial dentures (per arch): $1,033

We also offer other treatments, including bridges and additional restorative procedures. These prices are approximate and may vary depending on your treatment needs. We accept various insurance plans, including Medicaid and several Medicaid managed-care plans, so your out-of-pocket costs may be different depending on your coverage.

What to expect: All new patients begin with an initial examination and any necessary X-rays before a treatment plan is established. Since this is a teaching clinic, appointments typically take longer than at a private practice, and treatment may require multiple visits.

If you've been putting off dental care because of cost, need a new dental home, or want to get your oral health back on track, feel free to dm me! I'm happy to answer questions about the process, costs, and scheduling.

More information about our clinics: https://dentalcenter.osu.edu/clinics/student-clinics

Feel free to share this with anyone in the Columbus area who might benefit from affordable dental care. Thank you!
