Iam working on an annual project and I want to focus it around fusion, are there any mini prototypes or experiments I could do that wouldn't be too difficult or expensive?

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has granted permission to Holtec International, owner of the Palisades nuclear reactor, to retrieve a recently tipped fuel assembly, although the plant received a warning about its work environment.

On August 30, as new fuel was being lowered into the reactor, one of the fuel assemblies tipped, causing the plant's planned restart to be placed on hold.

I'm looking for advice so I can have a decent plan in place and be as prepared as possible if the nuclear plant 20 miles from me gets hit with a nuclear bomb.

I live 20 miles from a closed nuclear power plant on the seacoast. I live in an old brick mill building on the top floor but there's an attic above me. The basement occasionally floods and I don't own, I rent. I assume traffic trying to get out of dodge would clog the roads. What are my best survival options? I want to be prepared. Any advice?
