Ive been wanting to upgrade my dsi to the xl for the past year and I was finally able to snag one in great condition for a good price. Its been my daily driver for the past few weeks I absolutely adore it. Its surprisingly lighter weight than I was anticipating so playing on it doesnt feel to heavy I was initially worried because the 3ds xl always bugged me with its weight so this was a shocked on how comfortable it is. DS games look fantastic on it this feels like the way to play for sure!

found this pokemon dsi at a local game store. i guess someone just recently traded it in. its got a few dings and scratches on it but it found a new home.

Nostalgic for my late '90s Atomic Purple Game Boy Color, I kitbashed two eXtremeRate shell's, specifically the Chameleon Green Purple and the Gradient Translucent Bluebell, to give this DS Lite a dual personality. When closed, it looks like a sleek, modern handheld with an automotive-grade, color-shifting paint job. Opening it completely breaks that illusion, turning it into an exposed, retro hardware schematic, I really love to see the insides of retro hardware. To bridge the Chameleon Green Purple exterior shift with the clear interior, I used the metallic exterior D-pad and face buttons while keeping the transparent Start and Select buttons, I think this ties both worlds together without cluttering the look. Was it a pain to do this? Yes. Did I break my digitizer cable and had to buy a new one? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely in my opinion.

Easter Egg: I gave the GBA dust cover the exact same dual-tone treatment. The outer face matches the chameleon shell, but pulling it out reveals a Clear Atomic Purple back with a view into the original dummy GBA PCB. Just like the console itself: metallic on the outside, Atomic Purple on the inside!

Recently bought a DSlite which came with its own (unbranded) R4 card. I’ve replaced the games that were already in it with my own because half of them were in Japanese for some reason.
The card worked perfectly fine for about a week, but somehow in the time it took me to go from the waiting room I was sitting in to coming home, the card has stopped being recognised.
Not sure what happened but I have tried everything I can think of:
- pushing cardboard behind card to force contact
- cleaned pins
- tried different SD card
- time is already set to 2009

I have now just bit the bullet and bought a new R4 card but I had been putting that off because installing the kernel seems scary.
This post is basically a last ditch effort to see if there is something else I can try?

Google said it’s supposed to have a little wobble, this seems like too much. I recently purchased this one from eBay and the description didn’t have this or the crack. Ive got two other DS that don’t have this issue at all, but they aren’t this model. Any suggestion on how to handle the situation with the eBay would be greatly appreciated as well.

I took out my DS Lite from storage to play some games I missed out on, but I noticed the corner has yellowed and there’s a crack…..I’ve heard about DS Lite hinges cracking and destroying the whole console, do I need to reshell it?

I recently opened a brand new, sealed Nintendo DS Lite (Nintendogs Best Friend Edition) that had been sitting untouched for nearly 19 years!
To my surprise, the original battery still charges (it takes about 3 hours to reach a full charge). However, given that it's been idle for almost two decades:

- Is it safe to keep using this original battery?
- Should I be worried about rapid power drain, false battery indicators, or sudden swelling that could damage the system?
- Would you recommend immediately swapping it out for a new aftermarket battery and keeping the original strictly as a collectible?

When u want the real DSi menu and all its functions, and not an emulated menu?

Greetings! I wanted to ask if someone had the same problem as me. I'm reshelling an old DS of mine and while doing so I noticed a problem with the screen. It flashed in random colors. After reinserting the ribbon cable nothing changed, so I ordered a new one. After installing the same problem came up. I'm dreading the answer could be a crack in the ribbon cable, but I hope somebody has another idea.

Hey, I love my Gameboy Advance pearl blue shell. Ive had it since I was little. Ive always wanted a pearl blue nintedo ds to match. Mine growing up was a white ds lite. I photoshopped what I'm envisioning it would look like. Does anybody know if there is an aftermarket shell or custom designers who could help me achieve this look for real?

I love RPGs that are straight to the point. Of course I like a good story, but sometimes I just wanna see some numbers getting bigger.

So... any recomendations of RPGs that are this way? Games that you can just sit back and enjoy the dopamine of seeing your gear deal +1% ATK after a few minutes of farm or smt like that?

I managed to find a 3DS XL for £220 with one or two tiny cosmetic marks & DSi XL which looks like it was never used for £50 and i’m having a lot of fun replaying old games i used to enjoy in my youth.

It’s amazing how far these consoles have changed but there’s still nothing like going back and playing an old pokemon game.

I’m currently waiting for my preorder of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Console and controller with removable battery so i’m playing Majoras mask again on the 3DS!

Got this a couple weeks ago and didn't notice anything at first, however it's developing a flicker that seems to be getting worse. It's nearly mint otherwise and even had a screen protector installed. I tried adjusting the pots and noticed a contrast improvement but no reduction in flickering.
Do you think it could be a loose cable or possibly a faulty screen?

Edit: Seems video compression may have made it less noticeable, but a lot of the image shifts up/down as it's flickering.

Ever since I got this Pokémon SS cartridge(legit) it keeps on freezing. It used to happen less but now it happens whenever I go through a gatehouse or use the Pokémon center or anything so I'm stuck in Goldenrod. All my other games work.

hello! i found an old dsi a few weeks ago, and i've decided to slowly build back the game collection i had as a kid – while also trying out new games i may not have known existed at the time! :) i really love visual novels, games with drama, mystery, and interesting characters. i've seen a bunch of people recommend the games dementium (which is impossible to get for a decent price on the secondhand market), and trace memory etc. i'm already planning on buying some of the layton's games because they were my favorites as a kid.

i was wondering if any of you, who may be familiar with the life is strange franchise, or not, recommend me DS games?

I bought a ds lite and now on its way R4 card but I didn't understand so well the homebrew, is like an launcher? I need to install an other launcher or??

When I plug my dsi in I get no orange saying that it’s charging. The cable definitely works as I tested it on another console. When I swap out the battery it powers on, and will charge in other consoles, so it must be the charging port. Im wondering what the next step I need to take to fix this would be? thanks for all the help. Wigging does not give any light flashes and I cleaned the port.

I have a DSI I’m trying to mod with the memory pit exploit, I have all the files but it keeps going back to the nand dump tool and nothing happens after that, I tried to delete anything considered “unnecessary” and all it did was green screen the DSI

I’m getting a ds lite, I am new to the library of games. To start I just want to play some shmups / beat em ups, but would be open to other genres. I would like some recommendations for ds games aswell as gba games to try, without breaking the bank. Thanks !

I bought this from a local store

I’ve been using twilight menu on my DSi XL for over a year now, and when I first set it up it had a lot of trouble, but I basically got it working and had no issues after that. I took the SD card out, downloaded some more games, and now if I’m playing a game for more than 10-15 minutes at a time it crashes and kicks me back to the Twilight boot screen, but won’t read any games on the sd card. Any ideas?

The hinge plastic is broken, which leads the top screen to pop off.
If it is relatively easy, I would be glad for recommendations to videos on how to fix and links for new shells if possible! Thanks in advance!

So i tried switching the hull of my childhood ds lite and while trying to disconnect the orange cable that connected the top screen to the motherboard it ripped. Can I replace/ fix it in any way?
I’d really appreciate some help I don’t want to buy an new one.
