With Chase Elliott removing himself from the Most Popular Driver ballot, this will be the first time since 1990 where an Elliott or an Earnhardt hasn't won the award.
The last driver to win MPD that wasn't an Elliott or an Earnhardt was Darrell Waltrip in 1990 (he also won it in 1989)
Since 1990 it has gone
1991-2000: Bill Elliott
2001: Dale Earnhardt
2002: Bill Elliott (Bill Removed himself from future ballots after this year)
2003-2017: Dale Earnhardt Jr.
2018-2025: Chase Elliott

What race made you go from happy to disappointed/mad the fastest?
As a Dale Earnhardt Jr/Ryan Newman fan turned Ross Chastain fan (I know how to pick 'em) there's just so many.
For Dale and Ryan, it's between the 2011 Coca Cola 600, 2013 Fall Richmond, 2015 Fall Talladega and 2020 Daytona 500. For Ross it hasn't been just one race...it's been whole seasons now since 2022 that I've been disappointed.
Was just wondering what was on your list?

SVG and Zilisch swapping spotters https://x.com/bobpockrass/status/2113406241380663658
I don't like this. Feels like SVG got along great with his spotter. Why try and bail Zilly out at this point?

October 22, 2009: A Creek Native American medicine man performed a ceremony at Talladega to restore balance to the land and lift the "curse". I don't think it worked
x.comIs anyone else happy the Kyle Busch tributes have just kept dropping all year? Keep ‘em coming.
Gonna be honest I haven’t been paying attention much to this season after his last truck race but every time I see a tribute it just really makes me feel good.
NASCAR just dropped a video of him yesterday, the cars still seem to be repping him every race unless I’m just behind.
Wouldn’t be upset to see a little 8 on the cars forever, I got got back into nascar the past 2 years, hadn’t watched a race since the 2001 Daytona 500, Dale was way harder to move past for me as an 11 year old kid.
But Kyle and Hocevar were really starting to get me excited again. Every weekend I would turn on the tv and my eyes would dart around the screen. 8? 77? Where are they!? I didn’t even give a shit about anyone else, even though KB was struggling in cup the whole time I was a fan.
Really sucks to think just as I started to appreciate the man, he was gone. His 1st place finish being pushed by Hocevar in trucks is the most excited I have ever felt during a race, and that double burnout to cap it off. Wow! Hard not to cry like a little bitch when thinking back on how perfect that whole thing was. 69, nice.
Drunk ramble over. Hope someone out there can understand where I am coming from.
Anyone got any KFB tributes on their personal cars? On god I considered putting Rowdy above both my windows lmao. I think a blacked out 8 decal is probably the best way to go.

Have you gotten any friends/family invested in NASCAR?
I was the first person in my family to really get into NASCAR. My family was more familiar with F1 and street racing, but my dad showed me my first NASCAR race on TV (I believe it was the Capital City 400 at Richmond), and Denny Hamlin won. From there, I started following the 11
One thing I’ll always have a lot of respect for my dad for is that, as a Hispanic dad, he would always let me watch NASCAR even if there was a soccer game on. He knew how much I loved it and never tried to make me watch something else just because soccer was the more familiar sport in our family
I went through a few periods of taking breaks from NASCAR, but when I really got back into it around 2023, I became pretty obsessed with it. Eventually, I got a lot of my friends familiar with NASCAR too. They used to think it was just a boring sport where cars go in circles, but now most of them enjoy watching when they do and would actually be willing to go to a NASCAR race
So, do you guys have any stories about getting your friends or family into NASCAR, or at least getting them to understand and appreciate what it is?

Super Sub: Who are the greatest substitute drivers of all time?
In 1979 NASCAR legend David Pearson stepped into the #2 of Osterlund Racing, substituting for up and coming driver Dale Earnhardt who was out with injury. Pearson went on to win the Southern 500 in this role with Osterlund, cementing one of the greatest substitute performances of all time.
What other examples do you have of legendary drivers stepping into substitute roles? Or relative unknowns putting up legendary performances while in a substitute role?
