Reminder on how to report misbehavior and incorrect material to moderators.

Reminder and guide on how to report suspicious material on this sub as well as other subs that you frequent. Many of you newer users know how to downvote bad things to send it down in the list but may not know that a Reporting feature exists on subreddits. See the attached screenshots for a step-by-step guide (created on Android but iPhone should be more or less similar) for when you see things that are inappropriate that should be removed.

Questions and answers:

What is Reporting?
Reporting is when you see something bad, either post or comment, and you want to bring it to the subreddit’s moderator’s attention for removal and possible ban of the user you’re reporting. The attached screenshots show how to report something using the Reddit app.

What happens when I report someone's comment or post?
It goes to the moderators and they'll review the thing and take action if needed.

What kinds of actions are taken for offending comments/posts that I report?
If it’s indeed bad then removal of the thing and either warnings, temporary bans, or permanent bans for the author of the comment/post. Or just a removal with some explanation if it was a sincere mistake by the reported user.

Why should I report bad stuff? Am I required to report bad stuff?
You don't need to but reporting bad stuff helps the mods keep the subs clean of bad things. Mods employ several tools to keep the subs clean and on point but some bad stuff still slips through. The users (you) can be an extra set of eyes. The sooner it's reported by someone the sooner it can be removed from the sub by the mods. Our goal is to keep this a place where you can come to learn and support one another and walk away feeling good.

What should I look out for in posts and comments?
Trolls, rage bait, misinformation, Islamophobia, anti-Islamic narratives disguised as questions, lengthy and targeted posts with lists of contentious topics, users excessively arguing, people asking for direct messages (DMs) in their post, people asking for each other’s age or locations, advertising/promoting a thing or services, fundraising, scammers, giving personal rulings, rudeness, racism and bigotry, linking inappropriate material, or just other stuff that rules.

Does the violation need to be only something in the rules list? What if it’s some kind of new creative violation?
Report it. It will still be examined and we will still take action if it’s bad. The rules list above is a general guide but we are not limited to removing just those offenses in the list.

Will the user that I reported know it was me that reported them? Will you mods know it was me who reported it?
No and no. That info is not given to us by the Reddit Admins. (who operate the site and are paid employees of Reddit).

Should I report Muslim users too for bad behavior?
Yes. No one here is excused for bad behavior and permanent bans are issued to all user types for severe violations including Muslim users.

Do I need to pick the exact reason for the report from the list or do I need to type out a Custom Report every time?
Custom reports help the most (where you concisely type your report reason) but if you're in a hurry just pick any reason. The important thing is to report it to get our attention.

How long does it take for you to remove what I reported?
It varies depending on when a mod sees your report. Probably a few minutes to an hour.

What if I report something that was ultimately not offensive because I misunderstood it? Will you remotely destroy my phone? Will you send me a bill?
No, we just let the thing be. We don’t know who reported it anyways.

What if trolls purposely report good stuff?
Moderators report that to Reddit's Admins. who will punish the troll in their own way(s). Only the Admins. know who reported what.

Is there a limit on how much I can report?
No.

Will I be notified of the action (if any) that was taken against the user I reported?
No, that action is just known to us and the reported user.

I need to report something super complex and this Report feature is inadequate, how do?
Contact us through Mod. Mail (find the link on the sub’s page) and give us the details/links.

Welcome to r/MuslimSupportGroup! Subreddit purpose and guidelines inside, please click.

Asalamalaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu.

Welcome to r/MuslimSupportGroup! The purpose of this subreddit is to share personal issues to get feedback/support or as well as sharing casual stories for Muslim users seeking advice from an Islamic perspective.

This was originally something that was allowed on r/Islam but since that sub is growing we created this sub over here to keep r/Islam on point for religious topics only and have this sub dedicated to just personal issues.

You can use this sub to post about these things below:

  • Personal struggles or other issues you're experiencing.

  • Feelings of depression, suicide, anxiety, and health issues. Note that Reddit is not a place to find permanent treatment and you need to speak to a doctor or other health professional to get cured. Also consider an Imam. If no Imam is nearby, then look up mosques in other cities/states and call them and leave voice messages asking for a call back. This sub and ones similar to it are just to get some temporary support and you should not rely on it for a permanent fix because it will not help your core issues.

  • Ranting/venting.

  • Marriage problems, although more complex topics like divorce and its related topics will not be allowed as that requires the consultation of your family and probably an Imam. Do not ask anyone on Reddit if you should get a divorce.

  • Struggling to get married.

  • Family, friend, workplace issues.

  • Sharing motivational material, Qur'an and Hadith. Un-sourced quotes/text won't be allowed. Cite the text please.

  • Sharing pet pictures/videos.

Please offer support and feedback to users with kindness and empathy.

What this subreddit --should not-- be used for:

  • General questions about Islam, issues related to Muslims at large, politics, news, or seeking fatwas (Islamic legal rulings).

  • If you need help fighting masturbation and pornography addiction then please submit a post to r/MuslimNoFap and also see this link from r/Islam's FAQ page.

Rules list is below but is not limited to just these things. If users are found being disruptive in other ways outside of this list then they will also be banned. Learn how to report other users for bad behavior using this guide.

Rules:

  1. Conduct yourself in a civil manner. Bad behavior will lead to bans.

  2. When submitting a post, create a descriptive title at least one sentence long that briefly describes your topic, and use the body of the post to give further details. No all caps, vague titles, or clickbait.

  3. No advertising, fundraising, surveys, polls, questionnaires, or data collection on users of any kind. No need to ask the moderators as there are no exceptions.

  4. Do not derail posts in order to start side-discussions unrelated to the OP's question/issue.

  5. No brigading or vote manipulation (when you organize users from here to go and attack or mass-report other subs, sites, or social media accounts).

  6. NSFW/NSFL posts are restricted and must be approved by a moderator.

  7. Do not give or imply any fatwas (Islamic legal rulings). You can only refer to and cite other rulings given by scholars via a link to a credentialed mainstream site/scholar or by referencing a book and page number with the ruling.

  8. No sectarianism, proselytizing out of Islam, or takfir'ing (declaring a Muslim as a non-Muslim).

  9. No requests for Direct Messages (DMs) such as submitting a vague post and asking readers to DM you. Clearly explain your issue in the post's body and talk to the users in the public comments section.

  10. Do not reveal your age, picture, video, voice, or specific location.

  11. Use proper formatting, do not submit walls of text. Very few people will read walls of text. Use paragraphs.

  12. AI is not allowed in any form even for formatting even if the content was yours.

How do I seek help from Allah SWT regarding career advice

I gotta decide on what to study , but I have no idea what I wanna pursue . I have some majors in mind but , what do I reslly like ? what would give me a safe and secure career ? what would give me good pay ? I’m just so confused. How do I ask Allah SWT for help in this decision and guidance with whatever happens later. I haven’t been religious most of my life so I sincerely apologize if some of the things I say are absurd. I don't have many elders around to guide me .

Another thing I've heard is that you need to have one decision in mind and then go on with Istikhara Prayer , however that's not the case for me , here I need help choosing amongst options , all of which I'm almost equally attracted to.

A little reminder for this Friday 🤍

Sometimes, life gets so busy that we forget to slow down, take a deep breath, and appreciate what we already have.

Tomorrow is Friday, a beautiful reminder to r,econnect with Allah, make dua for the people we love, and pray for those who are silently fighting battles we know nothing about.

May Allah bring peace to every restless heart, ease every hardship, and give everyone a reason to smile again. Ameen. 🤲🏻

Jumma Mubarak to everyone. ❤️

# What is one thing you're praying for this Friday?

Our younger brother is struggling with addiction, how can we help him?

I genuinely need some advice because my family and I are feeling lost right now, sorry for the long post.

My younger brother unemployed, and recently came clean to our mother about his drinking and smoking habits. We come from a very religious Muslim family, so this has been a huge shock, especially for our mom.

For some background, he initially admitted to us siblings at the beginning of this year that he was drinking and smoking. We tried talking to him and even sent him for Umrah, hoping that being in a different environment and reconnecting with his faith would help him reflect and change his habits.
Unfortunately, when he returned, nothing really changed.
Over time, my mom started noticing changes in his behavior. He would sometimes come home drunk, and she began suspecting something was wrong. Eventually, he admitted everything to her.

A little more background about our family: we don’t have a father or male figure in the household. My brother is also the youngest and has always been extremely pampered. He’s never really had to struggle or take much responsibility for himself. Everyone else in the family is busy with their careers and lives, and I think somewhere along the way we overlooked him and assumed he’d eventually figure things out.

I’m not saying this to blame him entirely. I think we failed him in some ways too.
Now he’s actually asking about rehab and admitting that he finds it very difficult to quit drinking and smoking. This is what worries me the most because it seems like it’s no longer just something he does socially, but something he genuinely struggles to stop.

We’re considering rehab, but my concern is what happens afterward. He’ll return to the exact same environment, with the same friends, temptations, lack of structure, and no job. The job market where we live is also terrible right now, so finding work isn’t easy.

One idea I’ve been considering is sending him back to our home country, where life would be very different. He wouldn’t have the same luxuries and comforts he’s used to here. He would have to work, earn his own money, develop some discipline, and hopefully gain a sense of responsibility and purpose.
Our uncle lives there, so he wouldn’t be completely alone and would have someone to guide him and keep an eye on him.

I emmigrated from my country to europe and i'm regretting it

Since I was little, I've dreamed of living outside the country, recently my dream came true and I managed to migrate through studying. But the reality was different from what I expected. I missed my family and that religious warmth and the social and brotherly relationships we have. Everything is too expensive here, the cost of living is super high, and you struggle just to find a place to rent.

I realized that nothing compares to my country.

I want to go back but my parents are refusing, probably they're afraid of what people will say, idk

I really don't know what should i do, i became more attached to islam whan i came here but in the same time i want to go back to my motherland.

Make Dua for Me

So a month ago i had the worst ever breakup of my life. Things got really bad because there was also sihr done to me. Right now she doesn't want to understand that, nor does she wants to believe me, everyone around me has stopped giving me hope and told me how she wont ever come back because shes a really stubborn person and once someone is gone from her life they dont really come back. There are many things that happened and everything points towards she wont come back, someone even proposed to her recently. Even though it feels irreversible, impossible, miraculous. I have put all my faith in allah, he can do anything. I ask you, my brothers to make dua for me that she comes back, she gets written in my naseeb again, and allah writes my nikah with her, everything that has been hurt between us, and the trust broken gets fixed. We become each others bestfriend and love again and ofc in future spouses. Allah can do the impossible, he is al-wadud and al-muqallib al-qulub. Please make dua for me that she comes back with me in the relationship better than ever and it happens really soon.every dua means alot to me and i will make dua for you too. May allah also forgive me for all the wrong i have done and all the sins. Ask him to forgive me and accept all my Duas. Thank you everyone. Just need her to come back now and everything will fix one by one.

Need a Scholar’s opinion

I live in Philadelphia and I want to talk to a scholar about my situation.

I pray 5 times a day, pray tahajjud, read Quran.

My Situation:
I have been trying to make things work for myself. I am a male in my late 20s and I am nowhere near successful. I have been trying to run a couple of businesses and they never worked out. I have lost 4 jobs in the last 4 months. I tried running a business again and it almost worked and a few people were interested in the services but then right when I was gonna cross the line and make a sale, everything rewinded back to point zero.

I am not married and even if I want to get married, I have to be financially stable for it. No girl would marry a financially unstable guy and even I wouldn’t want my wife to crave for little things that I can’t provide.

Theres a lot more I can say. But the bottomline is that I have to be successful. A lot depends on it.

In need of a dua

I’ve never considered myself a perfect Muslim, and maybe I’m not even a good person, but in my own way, I try my best to be good. I’m going through an extremely difficult time right now—I feel so dark and lonely, and I’m facing unjust treatment and hardship at my workplace. I do want to get married and become a mother.

Has Allah abandoned me? I don't know... but maybe there are servants beloved by Allah among you—could you please make dua for me?

Has anyone felt this way and later found happiness, peace of mind, and had their prayers answered? I really need some support.

How to stop thinking about someone you haven’t got to know/ get over a missed opportunity.

This guy at work showed interest in an appropriate non vulgar way and I just replied bluntly because I was shy and insecure at the time so went to my office. He was a freelancer and I won’t see him again. I didn’t know that day my mum had prayed I would meet a guy to settle down with. He fits all the criteria but I panicked out of anxiety. Later in the day he did hover near my office but then went back. I feel really guilty I made dua for him multiple times that he finds someone that is beyond his expectations for a wife and has a blessed like full of so much happiness a man could wish for.
I also prayed multiple times to forget him but it’s difficult to as he has a lot of attractive qualities.
Everytime I think of him I pray the best of the best for him possible Ameen and a good wife in every way better than what I can offer but it really affects me and I feel like I’ll regret this for a long time. I’m worried it’s becoming more psychological… he’s a freelancer so he did one shift and now he’s most likely working in his home town which is a few miles away. No one I know personally knows of him.

Any help please? جزاك اللهُ خيرًا in advance

4yrs… (in need of dua)

Its been 4 years that im trying to get my life back on track and i fail every time. I had to drop out of college and i tried working but it turned out to be incredibly toxic as well and now its another year down the drain. I had so much potential and it all amounted to nothing.
I ve been struggling with depression for as long as I can remember but since i started uni it became much worse to the point it paralyzes me, and each year I work on myself to come back stronger and better only to be met with failure.
I truly feel like im more and more lost and I genuinely have no idea what to do. And each time I get another setback I really get paralyzed even more.
Im getting really discouraged and I honestly lost all hope. Im extremely worried that this is the life meant for me from now on, and idk if i can keep living with all this failure. Pls any advice? If not pls make dua for me Im in desperate need.

Make dua for me 🥹

Assalamu Alaikum, my dear brothers and sisters in Islam. 🤍
I have important exams, and I would sincerely appreciate it if you could remember me in your duʿāʾ.
Please make duʿāʾ that Allah grants me success in my exams, strengthens my memory, gives me clarity of mind, eases my anxiety, allows me to remember everything I have studied, and grants me the ability to answer the questions correctly.
Please make duʿāʾ that Allah blesses my efforts, makes the difficult things easy for me, and grants me a successful outcome that brings goodness into my life.
May Allah accept your duʿās, reward you for your kindness, and grant you success in this dunya and the akhirah.
Jazakum Allahu khayran. May Allah accept our duʿās. Ameen. 🤲

Losing Faith, Seeking Answers

I don’t usually come on this subreddit to ask for signs or answers, because honestly, even though I believe signs from Allah exist, I struggle to believe they could be meant for me. When I see others experience them, I’m genuinely happy for them, but when it comes to myself, it all feels unrealistic.

I’ve been struggling with A-levels for years because I have big dreams. I want to study engineering and use my education to help people, and that’s why I push myself so hard. But every time I sit an exam, my mind goes completely blank, and everything I’ve studied for countless nights feels like it disappears.

I’ve taken a gap year, and I was supposed to be applying to university by now. Instead, I’m still here, turning 20 next year, feeling left behind and watching my parents lower their expectations from me achieving good grades to simply passing. But I don’t want to just pass. I know I have potential, and I want to do something meaningful with my life.

Every exam, I pray to Allah SWT for good grades and ask Him for a miracle. My mum reminds me that Allah never lets our efforts go to waste, and that I should do my part and leave the rest to Him. But after every paper, I come home feeling like I’ve failed again. After so many disappointments, I’ve started losing hope. I’ve even begun delaying my prayers, which hurts because I never wanted to feel this disconnected from Allah.

But now, everywhere I look, I keep seeing reminders to trust Allah, to be patient, and that hardship comes with ease. I open my feed, read an ayah, or watch something, and somehow the same message finds me again. The strange thing is that I feel like I attempted my papers terribly this time, so I’m scared to let these reminders give me hope, only to receive disappointing results again and feel even more distant from my faith.

People keep telling me to be patient and trust Allah, but how long am I supposed to wait? My life feels like it’s standing still while time keeps moving forward.

I genuinely don’t know what to make of these reminders. Are they signs, or am I just desperately looking for hope because I’m scared of being disappointed again? I want to trust Allah, but I’m tired, scared, and struggling to hold on to that trust. I really need some guidance.

Help getting over someone

Assalam alaikum,

I’ve been thinking about someone for 5 months everyday. He was my friend from school so we saw each other often. I ended up having feelings for this person but I did not want to admit it as I am not yet finished with my academic years to consider marriage for now and I did not think that it was reciprocated. When the school year ended, I removed all social media to focus on my deen, my work and to just have a great time during my long break, but even without the distractions, i thought about him every single day. Since then we talked about a handful of times just to catch up, but we are not close anymore. Even so, almost 5 months later I am still here thinking about them everyday even without seeing or talking to them. I can not bear this anymore. Is there any way to help forget this person? I truly wish them the best but my heart is aching and I want to get closer to Allah. I feel like having someone in my head that isn’t even part of my life anymore distracts me from the important things that I should focus on. It also pains me as i’m very sentimental and take things at heart. Any help or advice will be appreciated and welcomed.

Make Dua for Victims of Sexual Slavery and Human Trafficking

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, dear brothers and sisters.

Please make sincere dua for every victim of sexual slavery, human trafficking, sex dungeons, and sexual exploitation. May Allah grant them freedom, protection, healing, and justice, guide those responsible towards sincere repentance, and bring an end to every system that profits from human suffering.

May Allah fill our hearts with His love and mercy, protect the oppressed, and liberate every enslaved soul.

Ameen ya Rabbal Alameen.

Having doubts.

I am not looking for an Islamic answer. Any answer will help. I just kind of needed to vent too so there's a tldr at the end.

I'm a Muslim. I don't know if this is just the effect of social media or if it's because my self esteem issues make my thoughts get easily by other's strong opinions (I'm working on this) but any post from a non Muslim just makes me start questioning my faith.

I know logically that we do need a creator. And One creator makes the most sense. And I've read posts about the quadrilemma of the prophet being an actual prophet and I have come to the conclusion that he was a prophet. But these doubts keep nagging me.

Like my brain logically knows but my heart doesn't feel it? And it's hard for me to start from a clear slate and learn Islam from a clear perspective and rid myself of information bias etc bcs I am a born Muslim and that part has just been conditioned into my mind. But recently it's really starting to bother me. I really need to go on one side and figure this out once and for all.

I feel like I have some obsessive and compulsive tendencies because my brain treats every problem like this. I'll know the answer but I'll have to keep repeating the logic in my mind bcs it just doesn't feel right or settled and it gets really frustrating. Bcs I know the thing but it feels like I know it superficially and not in my bones. Idk how to explain it. Something that helps is having a physical reminder but faith is not physical so I don't know what to use to remind me other than the logic that there should be a creator. But the thought loops keep repeating.

TLDR: I have doubts about Islam after watching non Muslim videos but I logically knows islam makes sense but my heart still doesn't feel convinced? Reading Islamic stuff and getting more knowledge makes me feel like I'm just trying to hear what I want to hear and validating my own beliefs instead of looking at stuff from a neutral unbiased perspective.

Mental health support groups for Muslims - Faith based (online support)

Salaams everyone, I wanted to know are there any mental health support groups online that are more orientated towards Islam and faith based?
I'm looking for something more faith based and Islamically oriented. Inshallah
