I'm looking for people to try hrtz, a free, open-source app I wrote to replace Zaopin's Mouse Drive, and tell me what works.
It's tested on the Z1 PRO MAX with the 8K receiver. The Z1 PRO, Z2, Z2 mini, Z2 MAX and Z2 mini MAX speak the same protocol and should work, but I don't own them, so those are the testers I need most. Install it, try things, and click Send a report in Settings: it opens a short form with your mouse and version already filled in. hrtz backs your mouse up before it changes anything.
What it does:
Settings
- DPI stages you can type or drag, each with its own colour, polling up to 8,000 Hz, lift-off distance, sensor mode, motion sync, angle snapping, ripple control, click debounce
- every button: clicks, DPI, scroll, media keys, key combos, rapid fire, hold-for-DPI (macros aren't editable yet)
- the four onboard profiles, named, and switched by themselves when a game comes into focus
- the sleep timer Mouse Drive doesn't offer, 10 s to 2 min (Z1 PRO MAX)
Battery
- level history over a day, week or month, time left at your polling rate, battery health and charge cycles
- a battery saver that lowers the polling rate when you're low, and a low-battery alert
- the level in the tray icon
In game
- a HUD with battery, polling rate, DPI and profile at the edge of the screen, in its own window (nothing injected into the game)
- a pop-up when you change DPI or profile
Lab
- a connection check that finds the polling rate your PC actually keeps up with
- tracking, lift-off and DPI accuracy checks on your own pad (with a one-click DPI correction)
- double clicks counted in the background, to catch a switch going bad, and a scroll wheel check
- a map of where your mouse travels on the pad in each game, and a check of Windows' pointer settings
Everything else
- backups of the mouse's settings, saved automatically before a restore or factory reset, with undo
- pairing a mouse to its receiver
- updates in the background, from GitHub
Free and AGPL, no account, no telemetry. Windows will warn about the installer because it isn't code-signed yet. Quit Zaopin's app before you start.
