Kinda wild how the whole larp discourse spawned this insane video. If no one feels like watching it, it’s a 25 and a half minute long video full of toxic shit stirring, lies, gatekeeping, and purity testing towards multiple content creators.

He attacks toy reviewers for buying and reviewing Godzilla figures for their fans while being new to Godzilla.

He brings up the screenshots of NBYT being racist and homophobic, proceeds to bash the content creator who brought the screenshots to light, and says the screenshots seem “legit” but call it a “nothing burger”because NYBT said it all in private, belittles everyone for caring, and according to him “everyone says slurs”. Which is funny because he could’ve just said that “NYBT said they’re fake” instead of going the extra mile to justify his behavior. What Rickzilla really takes issue with is NYBT being annoying and having a preference towards SHMA. His main argument for him being a larper is because he started out making Roblox videos and then started making Godzilla content. He also claims that he’s trying to larp as an Attack on Titan fan …. because he made a post being excited for an Aot figure? I don’t even like NYBT for basically being a lolcow, but you don’t get to say whether he’s lying about being a fan of anything unless you live in his walls lmao.

He accuses other creators for being larpers while taking them out of context and misunderstanding what are supposed to be jokes.

A.M. Cinematics is another creator Rickzilla lied about, his Minus One video wasn’t his first Godzilla video. A.M. has also stated that’s he’s been a Godzilla fan since he was a kid. Unless someone has been a ghost haunting A.M. since his childhood, you can’t call him a “larper” just because he doesn’t make many Godzilla videos. You also can’t say he’s larping just because he had a critique of Godzilla Minus One.

Throughout the video it’s painfully clear that he’s done zero research nor has he reached out to anyone who he attacks in this video in order for them to correct the record.

The video overall is very vague on what counts as a larper. The standards that this video sets is that if you’re not a vocal godzilla fan from the beginning, if you’re not kissing Godzilla’s feet 24/7, and if you say something that annoys Rickzilla, or something that Rickzilla disagrees with, then you’re a larper. That’s not a very sound definition, and it’s purity testing. Not only that but it’s not good for ANY community to have people singled out for not being enough of a Godzilla fan. It’s also not great to blatantly lie about other creators. Overall the claims of larping just seem to be an excuse to attack and lie about creators he doesn’t like. Quite literally larping as someone who cares about larpers while not holding anyone to the actual standards of larping.

So what makes someone a larper? Is a sports fan larping because he isn’t decked out in his favorite sports team merch every day? No. Is a goth person larping because they don’t wear black clothes and eyeliner 24/7? No. Is a gamer larping if they’re not gaming every second of every day? No. Is a rock collector a larper if they’re not spending every day searching for neat rocks? No. Is a new Godzilla fan larping because they just got into the franchise? No. Is a Godzilla fan larping because they criticized something Godzilla related? No.

It’s a matter of how you identify yourself because it’s physically impossible to constantly represent a specific hobby or interest you have.

A larper is someone who pretends to be a fan of something they aren’t. It’s the deliberate act of deception that some people will do in order to gain validation from certain fanbases. When you know what Larping means, it’s a little hard to pin a “larper” unless there’s solid proof. That’s not to say there aren’t any Godzilla larpers, you just can’t call actual fans that just because you don’t like them.

Which is why I’m making this post, because this behavior absolutely should not catch on in the Godzilla fanbase more than it already has. You can have disagreements with other Godzilla fans without gatekeeping. It’s absolutely repulsive behavior that no one wants to be a part of.

Because if you look back, Michael Dougherty said the same too of Gigan and Biolante.And we arent anywhere close to even seeing them around,if at all.

And given Adam Wingard is out of the Monsterverse too, i think this is just a wishlist he doesnt mind sharing, because he knows it's likely not going to happen, the way he envisioned it happening for him.

I made a drawing based on the concept of a half horse half monkey monster able to running and scale, a inhabitant from the hollow earth,i think i could,ve added more long toes. Any tips fro creating more og monsters for the verse? I shall post more of them since since im no doing any commission by now.

I say this because, when I saw the movie, I noticed that they have many very obvious differences that do not go unnoticed.

1- Godzilla's roar is the same as the Japanese Godzilla, mixed with the established roar from 2014. But that same roar from the Japanese Godzilla was never used again, and in GVK: The New Empire, when Godzilla transforms into his Enveloped form, his roar seems to change a little.

2- There are the most important and well-known kaiju from Godzilla (Mothra, Rodan, and primarily, King Ghidorah). I mention this because in the Monsterverse, aside from Godzilla and Kong, there are original kaiju in this cinematic universe.

And that's without mentioning that the Monsterverse Godzilla started out fighting the MUTO

3- More elements related to the Japanese Godzilla appear, beyond the rivalry between Godzilla and King Ghidorah, but also that Godzilla transforms into Burning Godzilla (referencing the Godzilla of the same name in the Heisei era)

4- And although it might not be noticeable, or maybe it's just my imagination, "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" seems like a kind of new beginning, since it introduces a new human story. I mean, I don't know how to explain it, it's as if the events of 2014 were a kind of prototype, since they more or less ignore those events or reconstruct them with the "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" series.

It seems they wanted this movie to be the biggest American Godzilla blockbuster. And don't get me wrong, the 2014 movie is good and eye-catching (despite its dark tone) and the 2019 movie is too, and it's a gem, but I get the feeling that it seems very different or unique from what the MonsterVerse offers.
