I am going to need a new one sooner or later so any recommendations are appreciated (very budget ones, like less than $50)

Discussion Anyone have the AOC U27G4XM? How is the SDR local dimming during desktop use? Is the white text on a black background very dim?

• Upvotes

I bought the TCL C2A Pro and KTC monitor that both had over 2300 dimming zones but they sucked in SDR during desktop use as they dimmed the white text on a black background so much that they were so hard to use or see those text. Does anyone have experience with the AOC monitor with this exact scenario? I don’t want to get OLED as I’ve tried it before and I am sensitive to text fringing so will not get another oled for now. And overall let me know your experience with this monitor and whether you like it or not and the good and bad of it. Thanks, I appreciate it.

• Upvotes

Right now I'm running a 2016 Dell ultrasharp up3216q as my main and a random $100 dell monitor from amazon. I want to upgrade, but being in high school, most of my money is going towards my car. Any suggestions on a monitor that I can buy two of? I want to mount them to a dual monitor arm.

Hey guys, I bought a new monitor, and it works fine with my friend's PC. But when I connect it to my Dell Latitude 5430 (Intel Iris Xe), I get weird colors and green spots in dark areas.

I tested another monitor and got the same issue. The HDMI cable and ports work fine with other devices.

I also updated my drivers using Driver Booster 14, but nothing changed

Where can I get the correct graphics driver for my laptop, and how can I fix this?

Thanks!

Discussion Looking for a monitor recommendation

Hi!

My current monitor (ASUS VP279q) is going out unfortunately, and I'd love to get something similar.

My computer is mostly for casual videogames & general internet usage, no work or school.

I've looked around some and I have been a bit attracted towards the Dell SE2726H, but I wanted to ask on here to see if anyone else had any recommendations as well that I could take a look at.

Preferably 144hz and 27-inch and 1920x1080, thanks.

I feel it's worth mentioning my GPU is a Radeon RX 570 Series, I'm not very well educated on things like this but I'm sure it's considered outdated now, but it works fine for what I do. Might try to get it upgraded soon though

What's the best monitor under $100( at least around ₱6000) That's my max budget tbh. Preferably with at least 180hz(if there's lower but more reliable brand then I'll go with that), 1080p, IPS, and 24"

Discussion Is the Asus VG249QM5A for me?

I'm soon going to be buying the ASUS TUF VG249QM5A monitor for myself as I've started university and I feel like I'm going to need a bigger screen later down the road (majoring in Software Engineering), I do game but I wouldn't say I play a specific type, I play all types of games (Roblox, Fallout, Geometry Dash, GTA and so many more).

I wanna know if this is the right monitor for me, as far as my research goes, the only downside I can see is that I have to buy a USB-C to DisplayPort cable and the PPI that the monitor has compared to my current laptop (Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3, 60Hz 1920x1080, i3-n305, 8gb ram)

Discussion [Canada] One of my ASUS VH236s from 2012(!!) finally bit the dust. Looking to buy two new gaming monitors for under $400CAD total. Suggestions appreciated

Title. Yep, I've been using the same monitors since 2012, and somehow both have lasted fine until now. I'd been putting off replacing them for years but now it's finally time.

I run an RTX 3060 and mostly play World of Warcraft, so I don't need anything outrageously fancy like 4k, but I do want to pick something that's worth the cost and will last... probably not almost 15 years, but a decent chunk, hopefully. I'd like to upgrade to 1440p. I do not need or want built-in speakers. Height adjustable would be nice as I don't use monitor arms, but it's not a deal breaker.

What would you recommend? Should I wait for Black Friday or buy now? It's not ideal but I can manage a single monitor for a while.

Discussion Portable UPERFECT 120hz monitors for my laptop (780m iGPU), 1080p or 1440p at 16-18 inches?

I have two minds about this: One is that even at only 16-18 inches -1080p on a native 1080p display will probably still look slightly better than 1080p on a 1440p display of the same size.

On the other hand a 1440p display at 16-18 inches is such a high PPI that any potential dead/stuck pixels would be much harder to notice, also all the 1440p UPERFECT portable monitors have +100 nits higher than the older 1080p ones.

The difference in price is negligible at a ~$20 difference.

Discussion Please help deciding between Dell/msi OLED monitors!

Hi all,

Upgrading from some generic 2K 120hz portable monitor deal to a 4K OLED setup. This will be only for my PS5.

Currently my top two options are:
1. Dell - 4K, 32”, QD-OLED (S3225QC), ~575$
2. msi - 4K, 27”, QD-OLED (pro max 271UPX12G), ~580$

Leaning towards Dell for the bigger screen and immersion factor. However, if quality of visuals or build on the msi is better, I could be tempted that way.

Seems I missed out on the Costco deal for the dell a few months back, sadly. So if there is a better value for a 4K OLED, please point me in the right direction! I have a larger tv so I’m sticking with 27-32 for the desk screen size.

The other Samsung, acer, LG, etc ones are all 650$+ so I narrowed it down to these two options.

Thanks!

Discussion Portable Gaming Monitors

Hey all, hope you’re well.

I work out at sea and I’m planning on bringing a Switch 2 with me, alongside a portable gaming monitor that can also act as a second screen for my MacBook.

I’m looking for a 16-18 inch, 1080p monitor, with some form of HDMI port and 120Hz, that’s fairly tough.

I’m UK based and I’ve had a look for some of the more traditional brands (ASUS, ViewSonic) but all of them seem to be out of stock everywhere.

I’m not familiar with the brands I’m seeing on Amazon (Uperfect and similar) so I hoped you all could help.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Asus VG34V TUF Curved Monitor No signal only on weekends, I swear

Hey gang, After power cycling, changing monitors, changing cables. It really boils down to, I receive no signal display issue from this monitor only on weekends. Saturday/Sunday, I can hear windows, and even log into windows. Use the Alienware Aurora R16 Monday through Friday for heavy gaming. Shut down normal procedure Friday night. Bam, Saturday/Sunday No signal. Back from work today. Power on and no problems. I haven't reseated the graphics card or RAM. Just opened up last weekend to inspect. Everything seems to be secure. Can a GeForce4090 card just be temperamental and still need to be reseated, with the weekend issues being a coincidence? Temperature of the house is the same as it's been all weekend. Cool in house because oil is expensive lol. Power settings seem to be correct. Windows 11 and Nvidia drivers, ASUS drivers all up to date. Any help is much appreciated!

Discussion Looking for a reliable 27” 1440p gaming monitor around £200 after a bad experience

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations for a new gaming monitor in the UK, with a budget of around £180–£200.

I recently bought an MSI MAG 275QF (27”, 1440p, 180Hz Rapid IPS) from Amazon for around £149, and initially I was pretty happy with it. Unfortunately, after only around 9 days of use, a thin horizontal line of dead pixels appeared across the screen. It was visible even over the monitor's own on-screen display, so I ruled out it being a cable or PC issue.

The replacement process with Amazon was a complete headache. After multiple chats, escalation tickets and promises that a replacement was on the way, they eventually cancelled both replacement orders and issued a refund instead. Thankfully, they've confirmed I don't need to return the faulty monitor, but obviously I now need to buy a new main monitor.

I've been looking at options such as the AOC Q27G4XF and ASUS TUF VG27AQL5A, but after reading reviews for both, I've come across quite a few reports of dead pixels, brightness bands, marks appearing after months of use and monitors arriving damaged. I know you're always going to find negative reviews for pretty much any monitor, but after my experience I'm a bit wary of spending another £150–£200 on something that could develop the same issues shortly after buying it.

Ideally, I'm looking for:

  • 27-inch, 1440p
  • 165Hz minimum, preferably 180Hz or higher
  • IPS panel, as I mainly use it for gaming and general PC use
  • Around £150–£200, with a little flexibility if there's a genuinely worthwhile upgrade
  • Good overall reliability and warranty support

I understand no monitor is completely immune to dead pixels or panel defects, and I'm not expecting perfection. I just want to avoid buying something with a known pattern of panel issues, if possible.

For anyone who's owned these monitors for several months or longer, how have they held up? Are there any models you'd recommend in this price range, or any you'd specifically avoid?

I'd really appreciate recommendations based on actual ownership and long-term use, rather than just the advertised specs. Cheers!

Discussion ACM vs sRGB vs ICC. How do I calibrate my monitor correctly?

I have an IPS Lenovo Legion r27qe. Lenovo provides a factory .icc profile for this monitor. I'm trying to calibrate it for SDR. How should I go about it?

Should I install the icc profile?

Should I enable or disable Automatic color management in Windows?

And lastly, should I use the monitor's sRGB mode? Or should i set it to Warm? Or Neutral?

I fear that enabling both sRGB and ACM would cause double clamping of the color space. But which one of the two is more accurate?

And what does the icc profile do exactly? Does it affect games?

Discussion Help me choose between these 2 pls

Post image

I want 23-24" full HD with pivot, because I want to use it as my secondary monitor vertically. But I will also take this monitor to lan parties so high refresh rate is good and "disc" style leg is also good because "V" legs take too much of playable space. These are my 2 chosen ones, but which one is better?
