Game Dev I'm a solo developer, and I just released my offline 2D platformer 'Naru: Seed of Light' on Google Play! 🪨✨

Hey everyone! 👋

As a solo developer, I’ve been working hard on this atmospheric 2D platformer set in hand-drawn worlds where the Great Sapling has withered and turned into Corruption.

Instead of combat, your main goal is to cleanse the corrupted beings using your light and platforming skills.

A few features:

  • 🌿 10 Chapters, 40 handcrafted levels with unique traps and puzzle boss battles.
  • 📴 100% Offline playable (no internet needed).
  • 🚫 No Ads, No In-App Purchases.

(I am not posting any download links here to respect the community rules, but if you'd like to check it out, you can find the link in my Reddit profile/bio!)

I built this entirely on my own and would love to hear your honest feedback or answer any questions about the development process! 👇

Discussion Rimworld on mobile 💪💪

• Upvotes

Whoever ported Rimworld and keeps updating it with QOL is a legend. I have been wanting to play forever since I have no more a pc.

I'm just missing Factorio and Zomboid (better version than the one we have) to be the happiest gamer ever.

I also love games compatible with Gamepad but I feel like I am always looking for THE ONE. Still have the itch to scratch

Discussion Story Matching Games

• Upvotes

I'm looking for advice on what is the best matching story game that's available. Currently playing Matching Story (by Vertex Games Pte. Ltd.). I've been reading some of the comments by players and they've got a lot to say about how crappy it can be. Is there another similar game out there that's better to play? I know it's a simple thing but it keeps me from thinking about this world right now. Thank you.

Game Dev D Day Frontline Commando, first 32 bit game running on the Arm64 android 16 by me.

I am really excited to tell you people that, i finally succeeded in playing a 32 bit only game, On arm64 latest mobile versions. Without VMOS.

It actually works on a translation layer, which translates the 32 bit codes to 64 bit codes.

The game runs on a launcher (inspired by Zettabridge) specially made for this game.

This is Frontline Commando: D Day. The game is playable on low fps, as you can see just need to do some optimizations and finishing.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The AI is used for crash log details, and suggesting fixes for various errors. Its all about saving time. And upon that all the things are done on this very phone. (I've got no PC rn)

All the testing, debugging and compiling. On a single device.

The games is in testing and Optimizing phase.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION

will be updating you soon.

P.S. Also can someone give me a good advice on how can I improve the performance, and if anyone have experience in these things. Any help is appreciated.

New Release Kora Heads ⚽ pixel art mobile game

• Upvotes

Game Title: Kora Heads ⚽

Playable Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hakim_ma.kora

Platform: Android (Mobile)

Description:

Kora Heads is my take on arcade-style football games, inspired by Head Ball — but hopefully way better, hehe! 😎⚽

The idea is simple: fast-paced football fun with a head-to-head feel, designed for mobile players who want something entertaining and easy to jump into. I wanted to create my own spin on the genre and bring a fresh experience to football fans.

I'm sharing it here to get more people to try it out, discover what they think, and help me improve the game. Whether you're a fan of arcade football or just looking for a new mobile game to try, I'd love to hear your honest feedback!

Check out the website for more information: https://kora-heads.hakim.ma/

Give it a try and let me know if you think it beats Head Ball! 👀

Free to Play Status:

  • ✅ Free to play
  • ❌ Demo/Key available
  • ❌ Paid

Involvement: I'm the solo developer behind Kora Heads. I built the game myself and am sharing it with the community to get feedback and keep improving it.

Game Dev I'm making a pixel-art strategy game where you run a real honey bee colony, and every fact in it has a source. Would love your feedback

Hi everyone! I've been working on Pixel Hive, a small pixel-art strategy game where you run a wild honey bee colony, and I'd love some honest opinions before I release it.

What you do

Build comb cell by cell: brood, honey, pollen, royal jelly and queen cells

Split your workers into foragers, honey makers, wax makers, nurses and guards

Get through the seasons: winter means no foraging, so your stores have to last

Raise a new queen and swarm to new sites on the map to build a small bee empire

Defend against wasps, hornets, spiders, robber bees, wax moths and Varroa mites. Enemies appear step by step as your colony grows

it's based on real bee biology

Development times, swarming, hygienic behaviour, the winter cluster and more follow how real colonies work

60+ short field notes unlock as you play, each with a source (university extension services, research papers)

Climate change is on by default and follows an IPCC scenario as a time-lapse: heat waves get more frequent, flowers bloom earlier

7 regions with 12 bee types (e.g. Carniolan bee, Asian honey bee, giant honey bee), each with its own nest type and traits

Where the game simplifies, it says so

I'd really like to know:

Does this look like something you'd play? What would make you stop?

Is the screen too busy/too much info at once?

Is the real-science angle interesting or does it sound too much like homework?

Anything that looks off to beekeepers or biologists here?

Thanks a lot!

News Journalism Request: Have you seen an ad for a scam?

Have you ever noticed a weird ad while playing a mobile game? Did you think it might be a scam?

I'm a freelance journalist investigating how scam ads are appearing across mobile games, how large the scope of the problem is, and whether these advertisers and game publishers can do anything about it.

To strengthen the story's findings, I need data from players since game companies and advertisers are reluctant to share any information or numbers on their end.

If you're interested in contributing information, please fill out this survey.

Game Dev Travel Town pissed me off enough that I started building my own merge game

I’m a software engineer and I’ve been playing Travel Town for a while. I love the merging part, but eventually I got frustrated enough that I just couldn’t keep playing it.

A normal person would uninstall it and move on. Apparently I needed a side project.

So I started building Galaxy Adventure, a merge game Travel Town style set on alien planets. Merge stuff, meet weird aliens, merge weird stuff, discover different planets.

It’s nearly ready now. Next up is internal testing, then closed testing.

After that, I want to gather player feedback, fix what’s broken, improve what isn’t fun, and get it published. I’m sure there’ll be plenty I’ve missed after staring at the same board for far too long.

Not dropping a download link yet, just wanted to share what happens when someone with coding experience takes a mobile game personally.

If you play merge games, what’s the one thing that makes you close the app? And what keeps you coming back anyway?

Questions I am looking for non p2w game, are there any games that even worth it nowadays?

Every mobile game nowadays that looks somewhat fun leans on extremely heavy p2w progress, I am looking for a fun, cool, with nice style mobile game that does not require payments (if even exists) and does not have ads.. such thing exists? For example I played survivor.io (which does not look like the ads at all) and is p2w, I saw few games from the same publishers that are indeed extreme p2w, anime games lean HEAVY on p2w, I can’t find something to enjoy playing on my phone when I am at work or something..
could be a game for fighting and stuff I enjoy them
