Platform:Β Android / (Steam future release)
Description:
I am a big fan of 90s and early 2000s arena shooters, so I decided to build something nostalgic in that space. I donβt have much time for extensive gaming sessions these days, so I wanted something fast-paced and fun that doesn't demand hours. My goal was to take the core elements of the arena shooters I loved and strip them down to the essentials, focusing on solid performance and fluid touch controls on mobile (though it also supports gamepads, keyboard/mouse, and working on an eventual desktop release).
The wireframe look partly came from not wanting to make textures... But it is also because back when I used to play somewhat competitively, everyone ran stripped-down configs with neon player models just for visibility. The game is really more about the flow, movement, and weapons. As a bonus, using the TrenchBroom format means anyone familiar with building maps in that format can easily load up their own DM maps including simple graybox maps. Dropping textures, heavy shadows, and lighting also gives it a massive performance advantage on mobile.
I only have a couple of devices and controllers on hand to test with, so I would love to see how it runs across different low, medium, and high-spec android phones and gamepads. Any feedback on the mechanics, overall feel and game in general is also welcome. Note that the goal is to have it locked to vsync for most android devices (60 or 120fps).
The game features peer-to-peer multiplayer, and I have added bot logic for solo play. It is free to play, and while there are ads, I tried to keep them out of the way and capped. You can also watch a single ad to disable them for 2 hours.
Built in Godot.
