Showcase Ryujinx Neo - A new Ryujinx fork for Android and Linux ARM64 (Armada)
!!!!! WE'VE FIXED THE BLACK SQUARES IN TOTK !!!!!
Now that I have your attention...
Hey guys!
A friend of mine and I have been working on Ryujinx Neo, a Ryujinx fork focused on ARM64 devices, performance improvements, and better game compatibility.
It started as just a personal project, but we've become so proud of what we've accomplished that we wanted to share it with the community.
The project currently has two separate builds, each maintained by a different developer:
- Android – Focused on Snapdragon devices (tested on the Odin 2 and Thor).
- Linux ARM64 (Armada OS focused) – Focused on native ARM64 execution (tested on the Odin 2 and Odin 3 running Armada OS).

PS: Use CPU Big Cores only for maximum performance.
Here's a quick overview of what we've been working on!
🚀 Performance & Graphics
- Vulkan Graphics Pipeline Library (GPL) support to help reduce shader compilation stutter.
- Frame Generation (LSFG).
- GPU performance improvements, Vulkan optimizations, and better Turnip driver compatibility.
- Improved GPU memory management and rendering efficiency.
- Built-in GPU driver manager for Android.
⚡ Native ARM64 Execution (NCE)
- NCE was pretty much broken in Ryujinx on both Android and Linux. We fixed it.
- Our Linux ARM64 NCE implementation includes dedicated memory management, improved signal handling, and additional compatibility fixes.
🎮 Game Compatibility
We've focused on improving games that have known issues on Yuzu/Eden, including:
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Those annoying black squares? Gone!
- Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Shadows were broken in docked mode. Not anymore!
- Zelda: Link's Awakening – No more depth-of-field (DOF) glitches. Everything renders correctly now.
- Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door – No more crashes in the sewers (or anywhere else, as far as we've tested)!
- Luigi's Mansion 3 – No more green lines!
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 – Graphical corruption fixed.
- Metroid Prime 4 – Improved handling of large 3D textures.
- Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope – NCE compatibility fixes.
- Doom (2016) – Improved GPU memory and texture handling.
- Link's Awakening & GRID Autosport – VP9 video playback fixes.
And many more!
📦 More Features
- Native support for compressed Switch formats (NSZ, XCZ, NCZ).
- Faster loading through improved compressed game caching.
- VP9 video decoding improvements.
- Expanded per-game settings and graphics customization.
- Improved Android interface, controller support, and game library management.
🐧 Linux ARM64 – Armada OS Focus
Alongside the Android version, we're developing a native Linux ARM64 build, primarily targeting handhelds running Armada OS.
Highlights include:
- Native Linux ARM64 NCE implementation.
- Vulkan and Qualcomm Turnip-specific optimizations.
- GPU synchronization, memory, and rendering improvements.
- Per-game graphics profiles and handheld-focused settings.
- Steam shortcuts!
- Standalone ARM64 AppImage packaging and Steam launcher integration.
Development and testing have primarily been done on the AYN Odin 2 Pro (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 / Adreno 740).
🔧 Two Builds, Two Developers
Both versions are developed independently, with different platform-specific optimizations and compatibility fixes. We have used AI extensively to impeove optimization and add QoL features.
Not every feature or game fix is available on both platforms yet. We're continuing to improve performance, stability, and compatibility on each.
Feedback, testing results, and suggestions are always welcome!
We don't have a public GitHub repo because we're afraid of ninjas. 🥷
More updates when they're ready!
EDIT: Sorry, we forgot to add English to the Android build (since it was a personal project, we used our native language). Adding it asap!
EDIT2: English language added!
