Seems like there is a very real possibility of a reunion scenario between Jim Harbaugh, JJ and Corum.
The premise is pretty simple:
- The Charger's offense is failing on all levels and a change will be required at the end of the season.
- JJ is filling a key back-up role this season while Dart recovers. I am not entirely convinced that Jim didn't push John to trade for JJ to put a hold on him, use him as a recovery QB and then trade up to the Chargers for a 2-3 round pick at the end of the season. Then Jim gets his QB1, John gets a great interim QB and gets a return on a 5th pick trade, and JJ gets a fresh start as a QB1.
- Blake is stuck being potentially the best RB2 in the country under a Rams offense that shows no desire to grow Corum into the RB1 spot. They seem to be in a similar Gibbs / Montgomery situation where they will ultimately have to move forward with one or the other, the current wind is pointing towards Williams.
- Both Blake and JJ's rookie contracts are up in 2028, putting pressure on their teams to either make a trade for some draft value today or move them into starting roles. If the Giants decide to ride with Dart and get some return on their investment on JJ and the Rams decide they want to draft a new rookie RB2 rather than have two expensive RBs on roster, both JJ and Corum will be available, starter-worthy players within the next 6-18 months.
Given the needs of the Chargers, I think there is a real chance that Harbaugh restarts with a new QB and new RB in that same 6-18 month time frame and may just want to start a little family reunion with two available guys who all know they work together well.

This is by no means to be pessimistic or overly critical, but did anyone else find the defense to be frustrating at times yesterday? They started off the game rough with that long drive Penn State had to start the game, played well until the beginning of the 4th quarter, and then allowed 2 long, sustained TD drives. I think Jay Hill is a great DC but he needs to be prepared (more so have his defense prepared) against IU, because their receives will definitely give us some problem.
I felt like Hill and Snowden, particularly Hill, had their worst games of the season yesterday, and that concerns me a little going into games against better offenses.

Do people really believe that Tommy only got lucky with the 3 short field scores?
I really doubt the Bryce helps the offense go 3/3 on TDs he he was put in the same situation. The run game wasn't working when Bryce was in because the D didn't have to worry about the pass. I also doubt the D would be put in spots to generate the 2nd and 3rd turn overs if the offense doesn't have that extra energy and gear.
Tommy didn't lead any major full field drives. However, he made some clutch plays on critical difficult situations. Something Bryce has consistently not done.

Look I don’t expect to have a star QB at Michigan ever. What we need is what JJ was. Which is the game manager quarterback.
We don’t need someone who can save us by a miracle throw. What we need someone who can reliably drive us down the field and let the run game play out with just enough of a threat from short passes.
I understand that all of Tommy’s fields were short yardage but he made good on them when Bryce could never make anything out of it.

I’ve attached the Bryce/Tommy stat lines because I don’t know who the answer is at QB but I know the problem is Jason Beck.
Tommy Carr was not as important as the explosive plays we got on the run game on non-rhino plays.
I am not a high level X’s and O’s guy. Bryce’s problems, to my eyes, are more mental. He looks like things go wrong and he starts pressing. I’m surprised that sort of thing doesn’t happen more often, tbh.
Less important than WHO is playing QB is setting them up for success. And that happens with calling good plays. Moving away from the rhino was what lead to explosive run plays which sets the QB up for success. Beck can either accept that or he can pull a Wink and double down on failure.
Edit: Jesus Christ, I am truly not interested in arguing over Bryce vs. Tommy. Quite literally the point of the post was that the playcalling (choosing to move away from the rhino package) was more important to the success of the offense than any player.

I think the best qb option is to do what Harbaugh did in 2021 and have a two qb package. Atleast for now. We can use Carr and Bryce. I’m concerned about rolling with Carr immediately but definitely surprised how well the team took to him.
Maybe we can have him start and keep underwood in wildcat/pistol packages.

This season has sucked. Almost no words for what we’ve seen other than a total let down. But is it crazy to say that we weren’t far off from potentially being a playoff caliber team?
For some context here’s the defensive national rankings
256 total yards per game (5th)
16.2 points per game (21st)
4.1 yards per play (2nd)
This defense has been about as elite as anyone. Mind you they average 31.44 minutes per game compared to the offenses 28.16, The most points given up in a game is 20.
Meaning that if we had an offense that only averaged 21 ppg we’d likely be sitting at 6-0..
So let’s say Carr is the real deal or even serviceable at the least. Let’s say the rushing attack we saw in the 2nd half wasn’t a fluke. With how good this defense is what would you all think is a fair record to finish out the year? I know we have a gauntlet ahead of us but I still like the offensive weapons we have and if we now have a QB that can utilize them and Beck starts to run between the tackles with less east/west motion how competitive do you think this team will look going forward?

The world loves to see ND lose, so there’s no outrage for a second clearly being on the clock and them getting to run another play. World loves to see Michigan lose, second gets put back on- outrage because Western let a Hail Mary go through (lol). Had Michigan lost, no one would have cared about the time dispute. ND lost- no one cares because it fits their narrative and they get to make fun of ND. Durrr BYU cheated their win doesn’t count in my eyes durrrr

Edit: I don’t pretend to say we should run the Rhino more just that it was interesting to see our Rhino lineman as the highest graded.
At the end of the day our primary success was right up the middle - 14 attempts, 169 yards, 2 TDs (12.1 yards per carry).
So more just giving credit to a guy rather than picking a fight about schemes etc.

Maybe he’s done at U of M, maybe he starts for us next week. Regardless of how it shakes out, I just want to throw some praise that young man’s way. Went through last year in a crazy situation, stuck around despite the new coach and system, has an absolute dog shit OC this year and yet he hung in there and gave it his best. I’m sure no one is more upset that it hasn’t worked out than him and he has handled himself way way better than I would have at 19 years old.
Prepared for all the downvotes and Reddit haters. If that’s you, go touch grass, smoke a joint, or get some ass.

I was curious about Michigan's play calling against Penn State, so I went through the play-by-play to see what happened immediately after a successful run up the middle.
Michigan had 11 middle runs that gained at least 4 yards or picked up a first down. Of those 11, only 4 were followed by another run up the middle. Twice they went right, and both times gained 3 yards or fewer. They never went left.
Now, I realize the play-by-play doesn't necessarily tell us the exact play design, so this isn't a perfect breakdown of inside vs. outside runs.
But it does make me wonder why we seem so quick to get away from something that's working. I'm not saying you run up the middle every single play, but when you're consistently finding success there, why not keep making the defense stop it?
Curious if anyone else noticed the same thing or has a different take.

Did anyone else notice during the broadcast yesterday they kept calling out Beck as the QB coach for the team? And that Whittingham also described him as such during the post game presser in regards to the QB swap?
Didn’t they make a huge deal this year that Detmer is Bryce’s dedicated QB coach?

Seems like this is getting overlooked but OSU put in a 3* true freshman (Luke Fahey) over their 5 QB from 2025 (Tavien St. Clair). Fahey went 0/2 in the game and bounced a pass off his lineman’s helmet. Maybe this week is a good lesson that even your consensus 5 QB is far from a guarantee.

This is totally random but I personally don’t ever remember seeing them showing the suites in a Michigan game before this season. But we’ve seen the Carr family twice this year and it got me wondering.
Do you think the Carrs pay for a suite or does Lloyd get a free one, cuz he’s literally a Michigan legend. Or do you think it’s a university suite available to former players and coaches?

Dont let Tommy Carr making miracle plays distract from the fact that Jason Becks play calling was still horrible. A bunch of negative yardage plays and then one miracle Tommy Carr scramble doesn’t make up for the fact that Beck still sucks.

This came after rushing for only 37 yards in the first half so you can’t just say PSU is bad.
I don’t think it’s a fluke the team can suddenly run again.
