Megathread 2026 Ann Arbor Housing Megathread

Welcome to the r/AnnArbor Housing Megathread!

Whether you’re an incoming student, a long-time townie, or a new professional moving to the area, finding housing in Ann Arbor can be notoriously competitive.

To keep the main subreddit feed clean and make it easier for everyone to find what they need, all housing-related posts must go in this thread.

This is the place to post if you are:

  • Looking for an apartment, house, or room to rent.
  • Looking for a roommate.
  • Offering a sublet or lease transfer.
  • Asking general questions about specific property management companies, neighborhoods, or the Ann Arbor housing market.

(Note: Surrounding areas in Washtenaw Country like Ypsilanti, Dexter, Saline, and Milan are completely welcome here too!)

Useful links:

  • /r/UofM Subreddit: If you're looking for student housing, you'll have more luck with their corresponding annual housing megathread.
  • U-M Off-Campus Housing Website: Useful for students and faculty looking for verified listings and roommates.
  • Ann Arbor Tenants Union: Resources for renters' rights, lease disputes, and dealing with property management companies.
  • City of Ann Arbor Rental Resources: The official city hub outlining Ann Arbor rental laws, including the Early Leasing Ordinance (which dictates when landlords can ask you to renew) and how to file habitability complaints with the city inspector.

PSA: Ann Arbor Police have unmarked F-150 and Wagoneer

If I got pulled over with no spotlights, by this thing I'd probably pull into a gas station with my hazards on. From the front, you'd have no idea this is a cop. This particular clown drove with his lights on to the car wash on Ellsworth with as traffic parted ways, completely oblivious they were on.

I have also seen a totally unmarked white F-150 crew cab pulling someone over on State st.

Mall Skincare Scams

This video by NPR popped up on my youtube feed yesterday and when I watched it I was surprised to hear Ann Arbor mentioned at the very beginning. It was about how skincare stores at malls were charging thousands of dollars to unsuspecting customers, usually after giving a "free" sample.

According to the video, there is one big company "Mazal Group" that offers products under many different names (Voupre, Orogold, etc.) and under different store names (Beauty Essentials, Beauty Revive, etc). This made me remember the time someone had stopped my mom to offer samples at Briarwood mall. Nothing happened afterwards because my mother is cautious of offering any credit card info, but when I looked back at the photos I believe this is one of the operating stores under the scam group ("Beauty Essentials").

I'm not sure if the store is still there now, but wanted to warn anyone just in case and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience.

Looking for a coffee spot in Ann Arbor/Ypsi area that makes it’s own syrups (especially a pumpkin spice). This used to be Moonwinks but they don’t anymore. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Lost pendant (West side/ Downtown)

Post image
• Upvotes

Yesterday (Friday 10/16) I discovered that my necklace came unclasped while I was biking from my apartment on the west side to my job near State and Huron.

The silver pendant I bought in Peru fell off somewhere along the way. It's about the size of a quarter and has the In a trinity of snake, puma, and condor. Back side is white quartz.

Route was Dexter ave- Washington- 4th- Liberty- Main- Washington- State.

Here is a photo of me wearing it at Nucleate beer fest this summer for reference. 🍻

If anyone comes across it, I'd certainly do what I can to make it worth your while (At the very least I'd be more than happy to buy you a beer or fancy coffee).

How do I learn about traffic infrastructure planning?

Not sure how to phrase and not sure where to look.

I live in a neighborhood that exits onto a main road. They're putting in another neighborhood directly across from our exit. I'm wondering whether they're considering putting in a light.

Help with the name of a pizza restaurant

• Upvotes

Last weekend I visited Ann Arbor and on a whim just went into a pizza restaurant for a slice. It was honestly amazing. It was one of these places that have five or six different pizzas out and you can just pick a slice. They will heat it up for you. Although this was New York style pizza, They also had, believe it or not, pizza by the slice for Chicago style pizza as well. I cannot remember the name of this place. Can someone help me out?

Pregnant in Ann Arbor (!), OB/GYN rec?

Hi all! I just found out I’m pregnant (about 4 weeks along so VERY new) and trying to plan some things including where I’ll go for care/delivery. I moved to Ann Arbor in August and so don’t have a ton of familiarity with the medical system here. I’ve been combing the internet to find information on different OBs in Ann Arbor and coming up pretty dry, so figured I’d put it out to the Reddit community!

A couple of things:
- This is my first, so I really am prioritizing good beside manner/someone who’s willing to talk you through it a bit more
- My insurance seems to cover most of the providers in the area

TIA for any recommendations/experiences ppl want to share!

Drag Night at Necto lacking ADA accomodations

Has anyone attended a Drag Night at Necto featuring a queen from RuPaul's Drag Race before?

I bought a ticket to see Alyssa Edwards at Necto, but after doing so, I found out that Necto is not ADA compliant. They said they're not able to grant me any access to seating, which is going to be difficult due to my disability, which will cause me significant pain after some time.

I absolutely love Alyssa and would love to see her for such an affordable price, but once I arrive, I'll only be able to stay for about an hour and a half max without proper accommodations.

I've been to dozens of shows and have never run into a situation like this, so I'm pretty disappointed. It seems like it would be simple to have a small section with some high-top stools for designated ADA seating.

I know Alyssa and other Ru girls have been to Necto before, so if you've ever attended a show like this at Necto, I would love some more info on if these are typically quality performances, how long they normally are, and if it's worth the struggle.

Washtenaw Probate Judge dual endorsements

For contested judicial races, voters must navigate their options without party labels or much of a policy platform. That pretty much leaves the candidates' experience, endorsements, and name identification as the major differentiators. In perusing the websites of Probate Judge hopefuls Alethia Battles and Jennifer Lawrence, I noticed that five public officials appeared on the endorsements page of both candidates.

Finding that a bit peculiar, I emailed all five to ask if that was their intention and whom they actually plan to vote for.

  • Ypsilanti Mayor Nicole Brown promptly replied to explain that she endorsed Lawrence before Battles entered the race, but after due diligence on both candidates, she will be voting for Battles.
  • Ann Arbor council member Lisa Disch wrote that she agreed to a double endorsement but plans to vote for Battles.
  • Saline Mayor Brian Marl also found it "strange" to be listed on both candidates' sites and could not provide insight as to why. Facing a contested race for his own reelection, he today remains undecided in the Probate Judge race.
  • No responses were received from Ann Arbor council member Ayesha Ghazi Edwin or Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Kristina Robinson Garrett. (I'll update this if I hear back from either.)

I'm sharing this research to help inform voters and to gather any useful perspectives on the practice of dual endorsement. I am not affiliated with either candidate or campaign, but based on the superior relevance of her background and other endorsements, as well as my personal experience with both candidates, I will be voting for Battles.

Anyone want to split an Uber/Lyft to DTW early Saturday (Oct 17)?

Hey everyone! I have a 7 AM flight tomorrow and unfortunately the Michigan Flyer is completely sold out.

I'm looking for 1–3 people heading to DTW early tomorrow morning to split an Uber/Lyft or taxi. Ideally leaving Ann Arbor around 4:00 AM, but I'm flexible!

I'm on North Campus but happy to coordinate a convenient pickup location. If anyone's interested, feel free to DM me! :)

If you *must* cut in a line of cars waiting to turn, at least pretend to be apologetic

I've seen the worst of Ann Arbor while waiting in line on the left lane of N main street waiting to turn onto Depot st. Between 7:30 to 8:30 that line is long. And almost every day some..nice person..decides they're above waiting in line and go on the right lane till the very end and then completely disrupt traffic trying to merge in at the very end of the left lane. I always always give the benefit of the doubt "they're a tourist. Visiting ann arbor. At 8am on a Tuesday. they didn't know you couldn't turn left from the right lane."

But guys, if you *must* do it, I ask 2 things:

  1. At least pretend to be apologetic. It costs you 0.
  2. Do it safely. If the cars in line can't see you coming, and you *shove* yourself in a tiny space, that's unsafe.

This is dedicated to the lovely person in the red fiat that had me slamming on my brakes so hard this morning my neck hurts.

Sigh. Lord grant me the serenity to accept things I can't change.

ETA: You cannot claim to be zipper merging after the lane line turns solid. That's not a thing.

Game is at 3:30. So, do we go to the park at 3:30??

Thank you.

Experiences in Dexter/Chelsea?

Hello! I’ve been doing some reading and trying to talk with folks about their experience - specifically with raising children - in Dexter or Chelsea. This was incredibly helpful but alas 5 years old.

Background: we currently live in the Northeast most corner of Washtenaw county (think equidistant from Brighton, Novi, AA and Canton) and have been starting to think about making a move to somewhere with a more “small town”, community feel. The nearby rec area in Pinckney is also appealing, and my family is all near Jackson so being close to them is also a perk.

We’d like an acre or two so aren’t looking at city limits, but hoping some people here live or lived in Dexter or Chelsea and wouldn’t mind sharing their experiences. Thanks in advance!
