My Collection autumnal listening
Iām set for the next 2.5 hours or so.
Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse - I feel like this one goes unnoticed comparatively. It does feel like a less polished in a way transition into Still Life. But this one is just so heavy.
Sacramentum - Far Away From The Sun. A stunning hypnotic melodic black metal classic. Not as immediately catchy as Dissection but just washes over you. Kind of similar to Dawn - Slaughtersun.
Ulver - Bergtatt
Simply one of the most beautiful metal albums ever released. I envy anyone who hasnāt listened to this yet because youāre in for a treat. Go on a walk with the leaves swirling and a chill in the air and youāll be happy (but also melancholic) to be alive at the same time as this album.

Discussion Topic What are your favorite albums/songs from Slayer?
Huntington Park, CA šŗšø
Genre: Thrash Metal
Iām mixed on Slayer. I think generally an overall great band, but they do feel overhyped to a degree. Kind of having that āthey can do no wrong statusā and I canāt entirely agree. Reign in Blood is the first and last track with filler in the middle. Heavy filler, but not their best work to me. Now Seasons in the Abyss is The Slayer album in my eyes. Itās heavy, itās fast, but itās also very melodic - and I think that melody adds a lot. South of Heaven is the other album I think is flawless. It is a slower album, but it isnāt less heavy and still has some fast moments. I followed that up with Show No Mercy. Now thatās a banger of a debut. There isnāt another Slayer album like it because itās when they were close to establishing their sound, but hadnāt just yet. I also have love for God Hates Us All - great later in career release.
Recommended Tracks:
āAntichristā
āRaining Bloodā
āSouth of Heavenā
āDead Skin Maskā
āSeasons in the Abyssā

Discussion Topic I am new and I just discovered this band and I actually really like them
The band is called Grima, their an atmospheric black metal band from Russia. I found them on Spotify and it's probably my first real exposure to the genre. Anyways? What are some of your opinions on this band if you have heard their music and what hands are similar that I could try out to enjoy.
Much appreciated.

I am fifteen and have gotten tickets to peelingflesh in the UK next year but it is my first concert I've ever gone to. Should I be afraid? Any tips?

Discussion Topic Just started taking voice lessons. Need some baritone singers to listen to so I can have songs to practice.
Just started voice lessons. The teacher wants me to bring in songs that I enjoy, preferably within my range, and we use those as a launching pad to address technique and such...So I started with House of Sleep by Amorphis. But thinking on it, I don't know like a whole lot of baritone singers.
Peter Steel (Type O)
David Gold(Woods of ypres)
Tommy Johanson (Majestica)
Toumi Joutsen (amorphis)
Matt Barlow
Roy Khan (maybe? in his later years?)
so yeah...I could use some recs of low register metal singers.

My Collection My metal journey 1993 to now
Been thinking recently about how I got into metal, how much I still enjoy it, and where it's taken me.
As you can see, I have divided my tastes in metal into four topsters, essentially one per decade up to today. I've limited the results to what I believe to be the top 15 bands I would have been listening to over those years (including repeat favourites). There have been more bands of course, but these are the ones I feel were the most significant.
In the first one, I have listed the first 5 metal CDs I bought along the top line. I also got into some hardcore around the same time too. I feel like those first few years shaped the kind of things I still enjoy in metal to this day.
Anyway, just thought I would share.

Discussion Topic Discovering Amorphis
Big Insomnium fan here. I want so bad to see them live but they're always with Amorphis, so I was like "let's listen to those guys". Overall I like them, they're quite interesting. But am I alone having this feeling that they sound a bit like "melodeath dream theater"? And I don't mean it in a bad way. Don't know what you guys think about it.

Discussion Topic It's been awhile, your most non-metal favorites.
I'm a huge They Might Be Giants fan since their songs were on the Tiny Toons. I'm 49 if my username didn't make that clear.
Skinny Puppy's The Process and a few other tracks. Also, Demanufactured by Fear Factory.
Oldies in general, but special favorites are Kisses Sweeter Than Wine (Jimmy Rodgers) and Sloop John B. by the Beach Boys.
Florence + the Machine because I'm also an alcoholic and the music speaks to my soul.

My Collection Ensiferum - Self-Titled T-shirt
Ensiferum hold a very special place in my heart as a metal fan and their self-titled album holds a great deal of sentimental value to me. Iāve been listening to this masterwork of a record for almost 20 years so I couldnāt have been more stoked to score a sick T-shirt of it š¤

Song/Album Here's my latest original thrash metal song (an instrumental for now)
I wrote this song using Cubase and a free to download drum track that I found online. All the guitars and bass work is yours truly and I even added a bitchin solo at around the 4 minute mark. I wanted to combine the melody of 80's Metallica with the speed and aggression of 80's Slayer, hope ya'll enjoy!

Discussion Topic Riffs Like the One Found in Dispossessed - Examinate?
Iām after crazy heavy riffs like Crowbar, Electric Wizard, and the song I referenced in the title. Iām not a huge fan of the death vocals, and like more standard vocals like those found in Crowbarās work. Any recommendations?

Hey All,
Looking for some recommendations as Iām relatively new to metal.
Some albums I really like are:
The New Chaos - Locked Shut (would really like to hear more specifically like this)
The last thing you forget - Title Fight
Were not here to be loved - Fleshwater
Adrenaline - Deftones
Around the Fur - Deftones
Phylledusa
I let it in and took everything - Loathe
Iām sure Iām super green and spare me the criticism haha. Still learning how to navigate all of the niche sub genres. Just getting hip to this! Thanks šš¼
