I always look at these of these Japanese fighters dominating other European or American fighters and wondered what is it that actually makes them special

Training Some kickboxing advice for low level practitioners

• Upvotes

1: if you miss a kick (lets say they pull/step out of range of your round kick or whatever) spin instantly. drop your foot down and throw a round kick when they come in. ive seen so many "elite" kickboxers get KOd because they threw one round kick with no set up at mid range, literally the easiest move to counter in the sport. stop just throwing round kicks without a follow up.

2: dont drop your foot back after you land, it sounds obvious but again how many times have you seen someone land a kick-drop their foot back and the other person can hit them as their foot drops back? making it a 1-1 exchange? if you land a low kick lets say, rechamber and kick again with that foot or the other one like a double roundhouse motion. double up your kicks its like a jab yeah sure you can spam a jab but the jab is meant to be followed up with.

3: dont try imitating any thai/japanese/dutch style fighters. these guys are braindead by the time theyre in their late 20s, i appreciate how guys like mayweather in boxing emphasize defense. pre emptive defense should be valued over all, not attrition. obviously the trolls will say "oh but look at rodtang! look at takeru!" yeah those guys's brains are mush, can rodtang even spell his own name? i would genuinely be surprised if he could. people like him or superbon or superlek or all the rest of them are essentially retired prostitutes at this point. beating up on brain dead people is abuse. its not impressive, dont learn from these guys. its barbaric and primitive. longevity is above everything

Hope you learned something! :3

Beginner with goal to fight (30M)

I’m 30 years old and just about to start kickboxing with the goal to eventually have at least 1 fight, just for the experience of it. I’m not delusional enough to think I’m going to be a professional fighter or have any sort of success with honours, or really even be that good. I just want that one experience and continue to train to learn how to defend myself too.

Has anyone else found themselves in a similar position? How many times a week were you training and how long did it take until you had your first fight?

Got nasty low kicks yesterday. Should I take a day of rest or go easy on tonight’s training?

Yesterday at the end of training, coach had an idea, asked everyone to only wear the right shin guard and get in a cercle.

We proceeded to give each other low kicks, I was one of the second last standing, I quit because coach did the kicking on me, first one I leaned in and took it without any high pain, the second one I fucked up and got hit real bad, I felt my knee joint swivel and a sudden rush of pain in my quad.

He felt bad and apologised even though it was my fault.

I know this is muscle pain, I have some heating cream for muscle soreness, I already used yesterday after training. This morning was a nightmare to get up and drive to work, I won’t be talking about work because that’s just suffering.

Today it’s my favourite, bag training and conditioning, i would love to go and maybe the muscle soreness and pain would go away and get better by getting it in action again. Tho doing anything at the moment is just pain at every movement.

Training Advice from pierced strikers

I've been training kickboxing for about a year and half now, and have been contemplating getting my ears pierced and maybe an eyebrow piercing, and I was wondering if there have been issues with them pushed in further or injury even after time took off for healing?

Unconfirmed Non spinning hook kick is extremely op

• Upvotes

If you chamber your knee for example with a roundhouse, then turn it into a hook theres 0 telegraph its impossible to react to. the hook kick can also be comboed off and used as a feint/set up but i dont want to put people on game. at least not yet.

but yes the non spinning hook kick is extremely powerful, the only reason you dont see it is because people dont know how to set it up or use it to build off of other moves so they see it as a weak slap that puts you off balance. you see it quite a bit in point fighting or wako but id argue its actually underrated even in those types or organizations or sports.

tell me what you think. comment down below or even DM me if youre interested because i actually know what im talking about im not some nerd grifter on youtube trying to sell you a course or something so just ask if youre interested
