Follow-up: what we changed in our wedding seating chart tool after your feedback

Hey everyone!

A couple of weeks ago my partner and I posted about OurMoment, the seating chart tool we built after painfully doing our own wedding chart in Excel.

First off, thank you. We both have a lot of experience with software, but going to market with an app we built from the ground up is a whole new set of challenges and learning opportunities. I’m happy there are communities like these to help people grow.

Now for the feedback – several of you tried the demo, a few signed up, and some of you DMed us with areas of improvement. This was extremely valuable and we’re here to offer some updates on what we learned.

What we learned

  • Nobody wants to create an account to find out if a tool is worth it. The “funnel” was kind of annoying just to try the dang tool. That made sense, so we updated the experience which helped more people find and try the tool itself. When you go to the homepage on https://ourmoment.io or the demo page, you can start trying the editor in one click.

  • The editor didn’t feel complete. Some power users had 20+ tables and found the editing process slow at times. We took top requests and pushed out the following changes:

    • Snapping and guidelines to help you perfectly place your tables
    • Context menu so when you right click on things you can easily act
    • Venue objects are now available allowing you to add items like dance floors, trees, cakes, and bars to help visualize your night
  • Highlighting the things we do better than Excel. We got a few questions around the specific features our tool offers. We didn’t do the best job of calling them out. We redesigned our landing page to call out the important stuff:

    • Visual live editing with your partner – you can follow your partner’s mouse and see what they are changing all in real time.
    • Auto seat assignment – helps you assign guests to open spots while keeping groups and pairs together
    • Relationships – have BFFs who must sit together or a pair of friends who have to be apart? You can define those now and the auto assignment will take care of it. Plus, you’ll get visual cues if a relationship is incorrect in the editor.
    • Bulk import and export of your data – we don’t want to wall you into our tools; we want you to take your data and use it wherever you want. We also want to make it easy to bring your data from other platforms, and we have options to bulk import from Excel or CSV so you can get all your guests into your project in minutes.

What is next

It’s been awesome to see something we built being used and helping people. This first batch of feedback has really expanded the things we want to focus on, and we’re planning on expanding out the ways you can plan and design your wedding on ourmoment.io. The next big features we’re planning:

  • Guest tags to allow you to organize guests and seat them more organically
  • Design tools to help you decorate your tables

If you’re planning your wedding or just interested in trying it out, the offer from the last post still stands: DM me and I will send a code for a few free months of Premium.

Try it here, no account needed: https://ourmoment.io/seating-chart-demo/

If you planned a wedding, what were some of your pain points with seating, guests, or designing your charts?

I made a little web app for people who like spotting interesting trees

I've made a web app called Treespotter that lets you photograph trees and add them to a shared map. The idea is pretty simple: if you come across a tree you particularly like, you can put it on the map for other people to discover.

It's still in its infancy so at the moment I'm really the only user.

I've always been fascinated by trees, but they so often become part of the background to the point where we barely notice them. But once you start paying attention, you realise just how many different, weird and fascinating trees there are, and some that are pretty hard to ignore once you've noticed them.

I don't expect to make money from this, but I would be interested to see if there is an audience.

You might ask why would anyone want to use this app? In fact, family and friends have already asked, and I have asked myself, and well, I actually don't know. I have been using it and I've enjoyed it to some degree and I just thought I want to see some trees appear that aren't ones I've spotted myself.

I do have some ideas for other features and there are probably better ways of mapping trees, as more than one person could spot the same tree but there's not yet a good way to manage that.

I built NutriyaAI, a nutrition tracking app powered by AI

I wanted to build something that could make everyday nutrition tracking simpler, so I created NutriyaAI.

It's a mobile app focused on helping people track their calories, understand their eating habits, and work toward their health and fitness goals.

I built it with Flutter and integrated AI capabilities into the experience. Getting from an idea to a working app has taught me a lot about mobile development, integrating services, and bringing a product to market as an independent builder.

Now I'm working on getting it into people's hands and learning what I should improve next.

I'm sharing it here because I'm proud to have brought the project this far, and I'd love to hear constructive feedback from other people who build things.

If you were trying a new nutrition app, what would make you keep using it?

I'd especially appreciate feedback on the user experience and what would make food tracking easier.

I'm the developer behind NutriyaAI, so I'm naturally biased—but I'm interested in honest feedback!

VibeScout - Ultimate music discovery app on the Google Play Store

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share an app I've been working on called VibeScout!

It's a music discovery app I built in my spare time that helps you find new artists and bands based on music you already like. You can dig into lesser-known artists, explore similar bands, save favorites, and open anything you find in your favorite streaming app.

I'm just a guy who works at a power plant and decided to give app development a shot lol. It's been a hell of a learning experience!

It's free on Google Play, and I'd love some honest feedback!

I made Podcast Filter: review a podcast, choose cuts, approve it for a child

• Upvotes

I built an iPhone app that helps parents review podcast episodes before children listen. It flags spoken passages and shows the surrounding transcript and original-audio previews. A parent chooses cuts and approves the resulting version for a named child; kids get only their approved library, with offline downloads.

Automated analysis can miss things, so parent review is still essential. Free download, with credits for episode analysis and no subscription. The app includes a sample report to explore the workflow.

I’d love feedback on how clearly the review screen explains what is being kept and removed.

I built a 3D app that tears apart an AI data center to show where the money goes. It just hit the Top 100 in Finance on the App Store

• Upvotes

Hey all! I've been following the AI capex boom and kept seeing headlines about companies spending billions on data centers, but couldn't find anything that showed where that money actually ends up. So I built it.

What it is: CapExplorer is a 3D model of an AI data center you can take apart piece by piece. Tap "See where $1,000 goes" and a server rack pulls apart into its parts, each labeled with its share of the spend and the public companies that supply it. You can open up the GPUs, memory, and the chip fab tools, or zoom out to the cooling, power systems, and the building itself.

A few things I cared about:

Every figure is sourced from public filings and teardowns, with estimates clearly marked
Fully offline, no account, no ads, no tracking
Built for iPad and iPhone in landscape

Where it's at: Launched as a $1.99 paid app and it just broke into the Top 100 in Finance this week, which was a nice surprise for a solo project.
I'd love feedback, especially on what else you'd want to see taken apart, and anything that feels confusing in the 3D navigation.

Recorder Voice app for Content Creators

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

I built an Android voice recorder for short-video creators (TikTok, Reels, Shorts), and I'm looking for testers for the closed test on Google Play.

🎙️What it does

• Records in takes: messed up a line? Re-record just that part, not the whole thing

• Arrange and trim the takes on a timeline

• Cleans up your voice locally, on your phone

• Exports to MP3 or WAV

• No account, no ads, nothing leaves your device

What I needGoogle requires 12 testers for 14 days before I can launch, so I'm looking for 15–20 people.

How to join (2 quick steps):

  1. Join the group (use the Gmail you use on Google Play): https://groups.google.com/g/voice-recorder-testers
  2. Accept the test: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/io.github.diegodias93.gravadordevoz
  3. The Play Store will show a price, but you won't be charged: at checkout, make sure it says "Test card, always approves" and confirm.

Install it from the Play page and open it once or twice during the 14 days. Feedback is always welcome, even a one-liner.

💙 Thank you

I made two virtual instruments... here's me actually making music with them.

SONATOMIC is doing the drone underneath, and I'm playing two parts with Element Player over it. The beats were premade.

I've spent SO much time working on these... it's pretty wild to actually be making music with them now haha. Still figuring out all the things I can do with them 🙃

Brainstorming as a growing bubble map: click an idea, it branches

https://stormap.ai/ideas/ (no signup)

How it works:

- React + d3-force layout, new bubbles spring out of their parent

- Ideas stream over SSE: partial JSON is parsed as it arrives, so the first bubble appears in about 1.5s

- Each idea comes back pre-scored on 3 criteria in the same call

- Share links hold the whole map (deflated JSON in the URL hash), no database

- About $0.0005 per click, which is why there's a free tier at all

Would love feedback on big maps (100+ bubbles) and mobile. Roast away.

I made Obscure: a Chrome extension that remembers different appearance settings for each website

I'm Juan, the developer behind Flyka. This 15-second before-and-after shows Obscure, an extension I've built for desktop Chrome. The demo captions are in Spanish.

It lets you adjust supported websites and save preferences for each site. Dark mode, brightness and contrast are free; custom colors, reading customization and element fixes are optional Premium features (US$6 once, with a 14-day no-card trial).

Does the demonstration make the idea clear? What would you want to see before trying it?

Product page and Chrome Web Store link: https://flyka.ar/projects/obscure/

Compatibility varies; some sites still need adjustments. Honest feedback is welcome.

I built Reperquadia, to help learn new pieces on the piano

I wanted to build something that could make learning piano repertoire less overwhelming, so I created Reperquadia.

It's a web app focused on helping pianists chain pieces bar by bar, climb a metronome ladder from half tempo to performance speed, and stick with focused practice blocks.

I built it with React Router, Cloudflare Workers, D1, Drizzle and Better Auth, and built most of it with AI coding help. Getting from an idea to a working app has taught me a lot about web development, integrating services, and bringing a product to market as an independent builder.

Now I'm working on getting it into people's hands and learning what I should improve next.

I'm sharing it here because I'm proud to have brought the project this far, and I'd love to hear constructive feedback from other people who build things. It's free to try here: https://reperquadia.synov8studio.com/

If you were trying a new piano practice app, what would make you keep using it?

I'd especially appreciate feedback on the user experience and what would make drilling a piece easier at the piano.

I'm the developer behind Reperquadia, so I'm naturally biased — but I'm interested in honest feedback!

I made Playground Arcade - a place to discover 350+ AI-built games

I kept seeing interesting games people had built with AI and wanted somewhere to collect them.

This became Playground Arcade. You can browse by genre, find games for your device, leave a rating, or ask it to suggest three random games.

The video shows a few of the worlds people have made. I built the directory; the games are by independent creators, who are credited on their listings.

It’s free to browse - I think of it like Newgrounds, when I was a kid!

playgroundarcade.com

I wanted to bring back a little of that old browser-game discovery feeling. Let me know what you end up playing - or submit something you’ve made.

I built a website because I wanted to surprise my dad with concert tickets

Last Christmas, I wanted to buy my dad concert tickets as a gift. The problem was that I needed to find out whether he was free that night without making it obvious that I was planning something.

That gave me the idea for Are You Free

You enter someone’s email and a date or time you’re considering, with an optional message. They receive a simple request asking whether they’re available and can answer yes, no, or not sure. You can then check their answer without revealing what you’re planning.

I originally made it for surprise concert tickets, but it could be useful for surprise parties, reservations, or any situation where asking about a specific date would ruin the surprise.

I built a working version here:

https://areyoufree.co

There are a few free requests, with the option to purchase additional credits for people who need more. I also added limits on how often someone can be contacted and a permanent opt-out to reduce spam and misuse.

I’d appreciate any honest feedback - I want to make this as useful as possible!

I built a free, lightning-fast text editor with AI tools, file converters, and clean utilities (No ads/signup)

Hey everyone!

I got tired of jumping between 5 different websites just to clean up text, strip spaces, convert Word/Markdown files, format JSON, or use AI to fix grammar and summarize content. So, I built TextFix Pro ([https://textfix-pro.vercel.app](https://textfix-pro.vercel.app)).

It's a completely free, web-based intelligent text assistant designed to make text processing instant and hassle-free.

What it can do:

  • AI Tools: Instantly summarize, fix grammar, expand, or simplify any text using Gemini AI.
  • File Support: Upload and extract text directly from .txt, .md, .json, and .docx files, and export back to Word or text.
  • Smart Cleaning & Formatting: Remove extra spaces, duplicate/empty lines, strip HTML, sort lines alphabetically, and generate URL slugs.
  • Transliteration & Translation: Easily switch between Cyrillic and Latin alphabets, or translate text across multiple engines (Google, MyMemory, Lingva).
  • Voice & Audio: Built-in speech-to-text dictation and text-to-speech reading.
  • Pro Utilities: Base64 encoding/decoding and JSON formatting.

No forced registrations, no clutter—just open it and fix your text. It also includes multi-language support (English, Bulgarian, French, German).

I would love for you to test it out, try the tools, and let me know what you think or if you have suggestions for new features!

👉 Try it here:https://textfix-pro.vercel.app
