Questions/ Tips Help with a Grief Gift?
Hi All,
(I honestly don't know if I've worded the title correctly).
My lovely neighbours are from Hong Kong and one of their mothers' have just passed away. They'll be coming home soon, and I wanted to acknowledge their grief/situation subtly.
I've read up on Hongkonger traditons, and for how I know my neighbors, and for when I see them next, none seem completely appropriate.
I've Googled and AI'd, but they're so gaslighty and contradictory that I wanted the opinions of true HK people to ensure I'm not overstepping or being inappropriate.
I believe Baak Gam wouldn't be correct as I'm not going to the funeral, and that flowers would not be given as a gift to the family but sent to the funeral home instead. I've read about round seasonal fruit, and I know there's colours to avoid too. I'm considering tea perhaps, as it's a good go between HK and UK tradition, or should I leave them be altogether even?
Any suggestions, directions, or tips etc, is most welcome and appreciated. Thank you in advance :-)

Questions/ Tips Is a 9-13 hr wait time at PMH and PWH typical for a Friday night right now?
Source: (https://ae.wait.hk/)
Checked the Hospital Authority wait times on ae.wait.hk tonight around 8:30 PM and noticed Prince of Wales is showing 13 hours, Pamela Youde is at 10.5, and Princess Margaret spiked to 9.5 hours with critical/emergency flags active.
I know public A&Es get backed up on weekends once private clinics close, but are double-digit queues standard for mid-October, or is there an early flu/respiratory wave filling up medical beds right now?
Any insight from people who've had to use A&E recently would be appreciated.

Travel Share your NYE ideas!
Hello all.
My wife and older teen daughter will be in Hong Kong from 12/30 for about a week. This is all of our first time in Hong Kong.
We understand that the Kowloon hotels are the typical NYE venue for dinner/dancing/fireworks, but we are hoping to solicit broader ideas for a fun evening that draws from whatever traditions (or novations) HK has to offer.
We will be staying in Central but are comfortable with public transport.
Many thanks for the suggestions!

Discussion Pick your own funny English 1st name
I know local kids are pushed to pick their own English 1st names of their choice if they don't already have one once they attend school. Are they purposefully being funny at all? If not, can't someone at school give them some guidance?

Questions/ Tips Where to buy scalped iPhone Duos?
Where do people go to buy these in Hong Kong? Since I read it’s all taken by bots. I tried googling but it’s just more international sites like eBay. Is there some local marketplace?

Discussion Hotpot dinner at Cafe de coral
All this for $69, you get a lot for your money. The only bad thing is it takes a while, definitely not fast food (minimum 1hr +) but this is great value for money and I believe not as much MSG as other places. On top of that I've been to a few proper hotpot places recently and it's crazy what they charge - I've paid $240+ just for the soup then you add beef platters for $350, $500 for seafood platter and not a huge amount.
