How do I make my master bedroom more cozy

Post image
0 Upvotes

My room has been a white box for a few years now and I can’t stand it any longer. I’m trying to warm it up and make it more cozy. My thoughts are to get a king bed with an upholstered bed frame/headboard, duvet cover in a warmer color, new rug, etc. Not sure what exactly to do or how to start.

Does OEKO-TEX actually matter when buying curtains?

Post image

I never really knew what OEKO-TEX was until I was browsing NeutralCurtains and saw they had the certificate on their product page. I've noticed some other curtain brands mention similar stuff like "azo dye free" or safe materials in their descriptions too. Just curious, is this something you guys actually pay attention to when buying curtains?

Middle aged single male. Have this bare wall at new place. Furniture is black and teal. I like the travel peg board, but not sure if it fits the somewhat sophisticated and stylish vibe I'd like to achieve.

PLEASE HELP.

The walls cannot be fixed was painted twice and it didn’t help now i want to cover it with something don’t want any fixing suggestions

Since my room was built, one of the walls has had persistent paint flakes and peeling issues, and after trying multiple fixes without success, I’ve decided the best option left is to cover it up while giving the space a cool, aesthetic upgrade. The damaged section measures 68×72 inches, so I’m looking for creative ideas or suggestions from you guys on what to put over it—whether that's tapestries, slat wood wall paneling, a large gallery wall, peel-and-stick wallpaper, or any other stylish setup that would look great and completely mask the problem area.

Opinions Needed: Bookshelves and Mirror

I just put these bookshelves together. I do like them, but wish they were a little taller. Is the mirror too tall now? Something feels off but I'm not sure what to do.

Thank you in advance!

Does my open plan kitchen and living area feel cohesive? Looking for honest opinions!

Hi everyone! I'd love some honest opinions on how my open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area is coming together, particularly whether my dining table works with the rest of the space (this is a new build and is far from being complete).

I've included photos of the different elements so you can get a feel for the overall look.

A bit of context:

  1. Kitchen dining table: A round marble table with cream and warm terracotta veining and a dark pedestal base.

  2. Living area: A cognac leather sofa with a beige textured rug.

  3. Kitchen island: Olive green bar stools.

  4. Dining chairs: I've ordered the Dutchbone Sara chairs, which have a striped fabric in olive green, sage, mustard, cream, and beige, with walnut coloured wooden frames. These haven't been delivered yet, so the photo is from the website.

  5. Pendant light: I'm considering a sculptural terracotta clay bell pendant above the dining table.

The kitchen cabinetry is Halifax Oak by Egger, and the flooring throughout is polished concrete.

I'm aiming for a warm, natural, earthy look with a mix of timber, stone, leather, and muted greens.

I'd really appreciate some honest opinions. Does the marble dining table work with the rest of the room, or does it feel out of place? Do the striped dining chairs tie everything together, or are they too much? What do you think of the terracotta pendant light above the table? Would it complement the marble veining and warm timber, or would you go for something different?

Most importantly, does the overall space feel cohesive, or are there too many different colours, patterns, and materials competing with each other?

I'm happy to hear constructive criticism as I'm still putting the room together and would love some outside perspectives. Thanks!

Elevating Indian Interiors: Why Roman blinds are the next big trend (and we’ve been perfecting them for 10+ years).

Hi everyone,

I’m posting on behalf of a family-run manufacturing studio based in Anand, Gujarat. For over 10 years, we have been crafting bespoke Roman blinds.

We’ve noticed that while heavy drapery has always been popular in India, the trend is slowly shifting toward cleaner, more architectural window treatments—and Roman blinds are leading that charge. They offer that perfect balance of luxury and minimalism.

To help expand this trend across India, we are looking to partner with interior designers, architects, and high-end design studios.

What we bring to the table:

  • A Decade of Mastery: 10+ years of experience means we know how to guarantee perfect, crisp folds, flawless tension, and exact measurements every single time.
  • Premium Craftsmanship: From modern geometrics to intricate traditional Indian motifs (like Pichwai art), every blind is custom-made.
  • Pan-India Shipping: We deliver safely straight to your project sites anywhere in the country.
  • Trade Support: We offer exclusive trade pricing and can ship physical fabric swatch boxes directly to your studio.

We believe Indian interiors deserve world-class window treatments. If you're a designer or architect looking for a reliable manufacturing partner to bring this trend to your clients, let’s connect.

Drop a comment or DM me for our catalogue and trade details!

NEED help with entryway

I have a very small entryway but am so tired of our shoes being spread out, no place to hang keys.

I thought about a large rack with shoe storage and hangers but can’t stand the idea of looking at it while on the couch. Big cleaning day but usually looks messy anyway.

Small drawing of living room for reference.

How can I make the view of my new apartment balcony as pretty/green as possible?

Thumbnail

I just moved into a new apartment and I'm so bad at home decorating. I get massive indecision paralysis. I've never had an apartment balcony before and my new one is pretty big, about 11 feet by 7 feet.

You see the balcony through floor-to-ceiling glass windows both from my bedroom (the view with the brick wall) and from the living room.

Since the balcony is the prominent feature through all the windows, I want to make it as pretty as possible. Ideally I'd like plants, with lots of greenery (plants that hopefully aren't too hard to keep alive. I'm in Washington, DC, for reference), along with some kind of table/seating arrangement, and something aesthetically pleasing to cover most of the concrete balcony floor.

Literally any and all suggestions welcome (any items/decorations I may not be thinking of, etc.), and I'll answer any questions if anyone has any. Thank you!

Furniture liquidation sale finds... what works? Anything?

Thumbnail

A big furniture store near me went out of business a few months ago and during the final days of the liquidation day they started blowing things out at 90% off. They we're coming out of the back room with furniture on carts and I was tagging things as sold right on the cart since I am just restoring my house after a fire.

For example this this heavy solid wood slice black coffee table I believe was about $2000 and I got it for $180. I would've never purchased it otherwise because I didn't like the shape but thought if it didn't work, I could sell it and maybe even make a little bit of money. Everything in the room is from the liquidation sale including the lights. The tchotchke's are from HomeGoods with tags still on. Just trying to pull it together the eclectic furniture. Any tips are appreciated

This is an area in my home that used to be an unused small dining room. During the pandemic, a new type of room for socializing in the UK sprang up called a Snug. Its literally jamming furniture in a room that's too small to create a kind of intimate setting. I liked that concept. I my case I would bring my guests in here for drinks and appetizers... kind of a snug / moody VIP lounge that can be a bit over the top so it surprises a little when you see it when you round the corner. The rug is from my mom but it can be used elsewhere.

BTW, those doors go to an unused walkway with a giant wall just 42" away from my house running the length. No problem blocking them entirely as there is another way in if necessary. What works, anything? What should I swap out, or just sell?

My husband says our living room looks like we need to have a serious conversation. Thoughts?

Post image

We're decorating our new home, and I bought two matching Hulala sofas because I liked the idea of a living room where people could sit and talk.

My husband saw them facing each other and said, "This looks less like ‘come over for a chat' and more like 'sit down, we need to talk.'" Now I can't unsee it lol. I sat down and felt like I owed him an explanation.

I still like the sofas individually. I just cannot explain why I decided we needed two identical ones staring each other down. It made sense in my head.

I'm leaning toward keeping just one, but there's nowhere else in the house for the other. what should I do?
