Question Allergies!!

Has anybody been experiencing seasonal allergies just the last couple of days? I don’t know what I’m allergic to but I’m sneezing like crazy. The weather network is reporting low or no pollen and allergens, but there must be something out there that’s getting me. Not usually allergic to anything.

Recommendations Needed Favourite library branch?

I like reading and doing work for hours at the library, so anywhere with a good variety of titles and lots of space to sit is ideal. I live closest to Barton branch and dislike how small it is - plus the parking is a nightmare.

Please no comments about drug addicts on steps or in chairs inside. That could be any one of us and the library is there to help everyone. I just want to know what your favourite branch is and why :)

Question Community safety zone speed limits

I noticed that along King St E from Gage Park almost to Wear's Florist, the city removed the 40 km/hr school zone speed limit signs and replaced them with community safety zone signs. There are no 40 km/hr signs there anymore. This is shocking especially since there's a bunch of schools in the area, people speed along that stretch and there's been so many pedestrians hit lately. I don't understand the goal of removing the 40 km/hr signs while not increasing speed limits along the Red Hill.

But anyway, what is the speed limit there in the community safety zone? I've googled it and have read conflicting info whether the speed limit is 30, 40 or 50.

Question Does anyone in the city dumpster dive?

I'm not asking you to reveal your secrets, I just read the dumpster diving subreddit sometimes and wonder if it happens here much. I do see homeless/addicted people looking sometimes if I walk by, but does anyone else do it recreationally, do you do well?

Question Base camp for movie or TV shoot at Mohawk across from St Joe’s?

Driving past the entrance to Mohawk parking lot on Fennell, I noticed a sign for a base camp. Of course now I can’t remember what the (fake) name of the production was. Anyone know?

Food What happened to Santa Birria???

19 Hess St used to be my fave Mexican restaurant. It was never really busy unfortunately but their food was SO GOOD! And their birria was the best my partner and I have ever had. We noticed a couple months ago they were doing renovations and constructions, but now it looks like it’s a Turkish place!! Does anyone know if the owners just moved to a smaller spot?? Please I need their birria

Municipal Election 2026 Andrea's desparate anti-Loomis Youtube ad

Has anyone caught this? I happened to be walking by the kiddo watching a Youtube video this morning and an ad break came up with some anti-Loomis ad about "which Loomis are we getting" or something to that effect. I have adblockers for my PC and don't watch Youtube on my phone so I haven't been able to go and re-watch it, but the only branding that it's for Andrea is the fine print "authorized" phrase in the bottom left corner. There was no purple/yellow colouring, just the Loomis nitro yellow-green backing on the text. No comment on who to vote for, just who not to vote for.

It looks like she's pretty desperate to be throwing up attack ads with only a couple of days left in the campaign. I have to wonder, why now? Why did she abandon her "nowhere man" tag for him? Why no comment about Cooper (I assume she sees only Loomis as the threat, or the ad was created a few weeks ago)?

Are there any other ads like this that she's running?

Rant Weekly /r/Hamilton Rant Thread

A midweek post to rant and complain about things in the city.

Top level comments must be IN ALL CAPS.

This is not to be targeted towards other users or any identifiable individuals - with the exception of public figures who may be mentioned as long as the comment does not cross a line. The rant post is designed to be a lighthearted place to complain about things happening in the city, not a place to harass people.

We will have to cancel the post if harassment of individuals continues as we are seeing a lot of posts reported with report reasons that copy to admin.

Please be mindful of our subs rules when posting to this thread, and note that the mods will be watching very closely.

Question Mood Disorder Clinic

I was a patient in the Mood Disorder Clinic at St Joes, up the mountain, between 1999-2003. I am looking for medical records and they are asking if I remember any names of psychiatrists or counsellors.

Does anyone recall any names they may have worked with? I feel like maybe a psychiatrist was named Irene. I know I would recognize it if I read it.
