Profile for MIF

3 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I applied to HEC Paris MIF in Round 1 and was wondering what you guys think about my chances of getting an interview.

My profile:

  • University: European target university, Econ
  • GPA: Around top 5% of my class
  • GMAT Focus: 655 (Q86, V79, DI83)
  • Experience: One research assistantship in quantitative research
  • Extracurriculars: Scholarship holder and involved in student clubs

Unfortunately, I don’t have professional experience beyond my research assistantship.

Do you think my profile is competitive enough to receive an interview invitation? I’m particularly concerned about my GMAT score and limited work experience.

Would appreciate any insights, especially from current HEC MIF students or previous applicants.

Thanks!

Do you think I will get in

5 Upvotes

Monday HEC’s gonna post the admissability results. My stats are:
335 GRE
GPA: 27.8/30
English level C2
work experience: 1 year off cycle internship in my family business working with CFO (not family member) in valuations who has given me a good referral, 2 months internship in a start up working in operations.

I’m applying for MIF, round 1. I should be studying for the interview but my brain can’t focus if it doesn’t know I’m actually given the chance to get interviewed.

What you think?

INSEAD/HEC MiM: Should I apply in Round 2 or wait for Round 3? GRE and admissions consultant dilemma

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’m planning to apply for the MiM at INSEAD and HEC Paris as my primary choices, along with a few other schools like ESSEC and ESCP.

I took the GRE on October 5 and scored 313. I’m currently working on my weaker areas and aiming for a score of around 323–325, with my retake scheduled for November 18.

At the same time, I’ve been speaking with a few admissions consultants to understand how they could help with my applications. Most of them have strongly recommended applying in Round 2 rather than Round 3, saying that Round 3 tends to be more competitive and that there may be fewer seats available by then.
However, I’m a little conflicted about this. The Round 2 deadlines for some of these schools are only around 10–15 days after my GRE retake. I’m worried that if I don’t achieve my target score, it might not make sense to proceed with these applications in Round 2, especially considering how expensive admissions consultants can be.

On the other hand, I don’t want to miss out on a potentially better admissions opportunity by waiting until Round 3. I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth committing to Round 2 applications now and preparing everything alongside my GRE prep, or whether it would be wiser to focus on improving my score and submit stronger applications in Round 3 if needed.

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has applied to these schools, gone through a similar situation, or worked with admissions consultants.

A few specific questions:
- How significant is the difference between Round 2 and Round 3 for INSEAD and HEC Paris MiM admissions?
- Would you recommend applying in Round 2 with a potentially lower-than-target GRE score, or waiting until Round 3?
- Is it possible to prepare most of the application beforehand and decide whether to submit after receiving the GRE result?
- For those who worked with admissions consultants, did you find their advice on application rounds reliable, or did they tend to push for earlier submissions?

I’d be grateful for any advice or personal experiences. Thank you!

HEC Paris MiF – Chances with a 324 GRE?

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply to HEC Paris MiF and would appreciate an honest assessment of my chances.

My Profile

Nationality: Turkish
High School: I graduated from a French-medium high school that admits students from the top 0.01% and is widely regarded as the best high school in the country.
Bachelor’s: Industrial Engineering from a highly regarded university in Turkey, with a French-medium programme
GPA: 3.37/4.00
GRE: 324 (Q168, V156) ** I know my verbal score is a deal breaker but i only had 2 weeks to prepare for it☠️
Languages: English (IELTS 8.0), French (B2)
Experience:A nine-month data analyst internship at a major Turkish private bank and a one-year sales and business development internship at the technology arm of a major Turkish conglomerate, as well as a production planning internship.
Graduation project: ESG-adjusted portfolio optimization using NLP and financial market data.

I’m aiming for a career in financial markets, potentially Sales & Trading, in Europe.

My main concerns are whether my GPA is competitive enough and whether my GRE score and quantitative background compensate for my non-finance degree.
Would you consider HEC MiF a realistic target with this profile, or more of a reach?
I’d appreciate any honest feedback, especially from current students and alumni. Thanks!

HEC MBA

3 Upvotes

I see most discussions here on MIM and MIF. Don't see much discussions around their full time MBA, despite being reputed and ranked well. Wanted to understand the general perspectives on the program.

Career outcomes at 75% job acceptances owing to consulting hiring slow down adds some concern. How worth is it given the current global hiring trends, growing nationalist sentiments and the ongoing protests in France?

HEC Paris PhD Profile

3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm interested in applying to the 5-year PhD program at HEC Paris, but I've found relatively little information about the admissions process and what successful applicants typically look like.

For those who are currently in the program, have graduated from it, or have experience applying, I'd love to hear about your experience!

A few questions I have:

  • How competitive is admission, realistically?
  • What kind of academic profile do admitted students typically have (e.g., GPA, university background, GMAT/GRE scores, master's degree)?
  • How important is prior research experience? Do most admitted students have research assistantships, publications, or substantial thesis experience?

I'd really appreciate any insights or advice. Thanks in advance!

Évaluation de Dossier AST Objectif ESCP ( Étudiant CUPGE Math )

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

NEED ADVICE

2 Upvotes

I want to attest my bachelors degree but in hec portal they are asking matric and fsc start and end date, not the year only but also the date and the month which is not mentioned on my transcript. What should I do? Don't want to have any problems or issues with dates and the attestation process because I need it to appear in my university exams.

HEC Paris MiF- Profile and GMAT score

5 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply to the HEC Paris Master in International Finance (MiF) programme and would appreciate some honest feedback on my profile, particularly regarding my GMAT score.

Profile:

* Nationality: Indian

* Undergraduate degree: B.Com (Hons.) from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi

* CGPA: 8.91/10

* Class 10: 98%

* Class 12: 98.5%

* GMAT Focus Edition: 645

* CFA: Level II cleared

* FRM: Both levels cleared on the first attempt

* Work experience: Approximately 1 year at Accuracy India, working on financial modelling, valuation and strategic analysis

* Internships: Deutsche Bank (Fixed Income & Commodities) and Invest India

I'm interested in pursuing the HEC MiF to build on my finance background and explore opportunities in investment banking and related finance roles.

My main concern is whether my GMAT score is competitive enough for the programme, considering the overall strength of my profile.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on a few questions:

* Is a 645 GMAT Focus score sufficient to have a realistic chance of admission to HEC MiF, given my academic background and finance credentials?

* Do CFA Level II and both FRM levels cleared add meaningful value to the application?

* Would you recommend retaking the GMAT to improve my chances, or is it worth applying with my current score?

* How realistic is admission with this profile, and would the GMAT be a significant weakness?

I'd particularly appreciate insights from current students, alumni or applicants who have gone through the HEC MiF admissions process.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Realized I'm in over my head with Business/Finance subjects due to my High School background. Need advice on switching paths

2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently started a private business school program, but I’m really struggling to keep up. My high school background was in Literature/Humanities, so I never built a solid foundation in Advanced Math, Accounting, or Finance.

Most of my classmates came from Science or Economics backgrounds, so they already grasp these concepts easily. On top of that, the heavy workload and lectures in a non-native language are making it extremely difficult to bridge the gap. I feel like I'm constantly falling behind despite my best efforts.

I'm considering switching to Vocational Training (OFPPT/CMC) or a track that better aligns with a background in Humanities and Languages, where I can build a strong foundation without getting overwhelmed by high-level math.

Has anyone been in a similar situation—switching from a heavily quantitative major to something more practical or language-focused? How did you handle the transition, and was it the right decision for you?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
