[Discussion] Trick-or-Treat Bags in 2026

Some may ask themselves, if it's better to sell or to open these bags. The answer is sort of subjective, but I'll try to state my thoughts and would like to invite others to add their opinions about it here.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trick-or-Treat_Bag

The prices after this first week are continuing to drop and I'd say you have to ask yourself what you want out of it.

It's a great source of gold, if you need it, since they can be farmed easily with any profession all day long and sell like hot cakes on the tp.

Opening them floods your inventory with plastic fangs, chattering skulls, nougat centers, candy corns, various halloween tonics some finishers, rotten eggs and toilet paper.

As of writing this post, a stack of 250 bags sells for roughly 7g 80s on the tp.

If you are after Candy Corn Cobs, my advise would be to sell the bags and buy the cobs directly. Opening a whole stack of bags, leaves you with give or take 1000 candy corns, which can be traded into one Cob, however on the TP a cob goes for 4g 30~90s currently. Thus you can get almost 2 cobs for a single stack of bags.

They also have a rare chance to drop items like Vassago, Onus etc as well as T6 materials. Also, they can drop Courtly Weapon chests, which are account bound and contain a choice of one of 12 weapons with a unique skin you can get only from this chest or from guaranteed unlock tickets.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Courtly_Weapon_Chest

Lastly there is a super rare chance to get infusions, some selling for a pretty penny, but usually you'll need to open tens of thousand of bags just to get one.

tl;dr: don't care about the weapon skins and super rare chance for infusions? sell the bags!

need candy corn COBS? sell the bags and buy them directly.

[Question] Is it worth starting GW2 for me?

Hi,

I've recently got that strong MMORPG itch and have returned to SWTOR, which was always my go to game. I love all the class stories and how everything is voiced and well made. However, I've been on and off in it for like 1000+ hours and it no longer really clicks for me, I don't know. So I want to try something new and people recommend GW2.

Now, I'm in my late 30s and I don't have that much time to min max. So overall here are few questions I have about it:

1: How casual friendly is this game? I mean, must you try to min max to get into group content or are people more forgiving? Kinda don't want a second full time job if you know what I mean

2: What is the leveling experience? Is it story based? Is the story super generic or is it worth getting into? Is there any lore?

3: How newbie friendly is it ? Like is it difficult to figure out all the systems? Do you have to read them out or does the game reveals itself as you go along?

4: Is there enough population on EU side?

5: Should you recommend playing it, which is the more novice friendly class to begin with? I'm more of a PVE guy than PVP.

Thank you for your time :)

EDIT: I did not expect so many responses and I cannot thank you enough for taking time to answer everything so thoroughly. What a fantastic community. I got what I needed and have already downloaded the game. See you on the other side! :)

P.S. sorry I couldn't answer to all your posts individually, but I've read all of them and appreciate every input!

[Question] What was this effect?

Post image
34 Upvotes

So, I was harvesting flax in Verdant Brink when suddenly I started spewing black clouds and feathers all over. I didn't have any infusions, I don't own Nevermore, and the effect stayed going until I changed maps. But it was very cool, and I'm curious what set it off and/or how I can get it permanently. Anyone know what it is?

[Discussion] Is PvP in a decent state?

Played casually a few years ago and clocked around 150h. Didn’t do much PvP but I’m starting to get the itch to now. I kinda want a single game to stick to and GW2 appeals to me due to its horizontal progress and friendly community, but I really can’t remember what the experience was like in PvP lol.

[Discussion] Level 36 thief, new to MMOs — what should I learn first?

• Upvotes

I'm pretty new to MMOs and playing thief, currently lvl 36. I like the combat but half the time idk if I'm playing it properly or just pressing buttons.

I've done my first dungeon and tried PvP once. Got destroyed in PvP but obviously I've only tried it once so I'm not expecting to be good.

What should I focus on learning first? Any weapons you'd recommend while levelling? And for PvP, what am I actually supposed to do as a thief?

People have told me it's a hard class to learn. Was thinking about trying warrior but I do enjoy thief so I'd rather understand it a bit more before switching.

Any advice or guides that explain the basics and why you're doing things? Don't really want to just copy a build and still have no clue what I'm doing.

I also LOVE the action cam!

[Question] Server Selection

Hey guys I’m from NA but I’ve been playing in EU all this time for over 500 hours. I have joined multiple guilds and have many friends. Do you think it’s worth it to switch to NA. My daily reset happens at 8pm and sometimes I miss some content during the weekends as EU trains start early in my time. I don’t want to make the switch and then regret not finding anyone in the LFG. I primarily use LFG for any kind of activity. Also suggest me some discords where I can ask LFG for any instanced content that fills up soon.
Thanks in advance

[Discussion] An observation on the current state of fractals

Background: I played a lot on and off from release until about 2018. I was in multiple raiding guilds and would clear wings 1-4 every week. I would also do t4 fractals every day. I have recently come back and am really enjoying playing through the expansions and new content but when I go back to play t4 fractals it's a lot different.

The average damage people are doing is much higher so a lot of boss encounters are cleared very quickly. This seems to be exacerbated by groups looking for specific team compositions: aheal, qdps, etc. (In 2018 it was usually just all dps and vibes, maybe a healer for CM) The unique mechanics of some fights can now just be ignored completely or sometimes they don't even have time to impact the fight in a meaningful way. This is cool I guess, but sometimes disappointing too.

Recently, when solitary throne was a daily, I was able to find a PUG that was very reluctant to run it but ended up going in. Two other people in the group, as well as myself had never done it. I had watched a couple of videos and read the wiki as I've heard it was tough and wanted to familiarize myself with the mechanics. We got to the boss pretty easily but after getting the boss under 30% and then wiping two times, 3 people left the party and we were unable to fill.

I think the hate for this fractal is undeserved. There is a lot to keep track of and ignoring the mechanics comes with harsh punishment. It mostly just seems the fractal is designed to be a direct answer to the current meta of fractals of stacking in one spot and face rolling the keyboard until the boss dies.

I feel the state of the game and the meta of fractals have made the barrier of entry to t4 much lower. That to me is amazing, but it also seems players may not be getting the chance to learn to play around mechanics in end game content and this fractal is basically a skill check.

I also think the other complaint of the fractal takes too long to fit into the daily grind of doing 12 fractals says a lot more about the state of fractals as a whole and the concept of daily challenges in videogames than it says about the fractal itself.

Idk maybe I should just go to bed and thank you coming to my ted talk
