[Discussion] Some nice stranger went out of their way to booost newbies through w4 raid. I lost my raid virginity and my fear

i never attempted gw2 raids before cause i was thinking there re dedicated gw2 university programs for it so it must be really really difficult. maybe sole wipe mechs where i could ruin the whole raid. also because of a kid i cant join a raid for hours and hours to prog. so all i did was the raid matchmaking.

today i heard in mapchat some random stranger seeking actively for newbies to join a w4 raid. he explicitly said he is looking for newbs that dont need to know anything, the whole thing is gonna take 3 min only etc..

we got in he wrote 4 easy to understand short sentences.

  1. stack on green. 2. red circle move to highlighted areas. 3. use special key to move faster.

then we started. it looked chaotic as the raid had like 4-5 newbs like me with 0 clue. newbs didnt move their red circle to dedicated areas but stacked it sometimes onto use. But healer stillt kept everbody at full health.

boss died after couple of min. top 4 dps all did 20-30k i did only 10k. haha. But damn that was actuallly not so scary after all and really simple.

i ve always wanted to do w1-wx to unlock my legendary armor crafting route but never attempted out of fear. now i dont know if all early raids are like this and granted not all raids have a setup to carry newbs, but maybe i could apply for some w1-w4 raids if they re that short?

[Discussion] Please Revitalize Core Tyria Dungeons

Please Revitalize Core Tyria Dungeons

Dungeons need to be revisited to not feel like abandoned content.

  • Make the Entrance NPC's also dungeon vendors so that new players can see exactly what their incentives are for doing those dungeons.
  • Add revitalized dungeons as party of the daily achievement rewards.

Story Mode that is re-scaled to be Solo Friendly and have Party Mode to be for up to 5 players still at minimum story level. Remove the cut scenes for in world dialogue, just reuse the same audio and use speech bubbles.

  • Solo Mode
    • Just for getting the story done without requiring other players, with buffs to accompanying story NPC's. Like raising fallen players out of combat.
  • Party Mode as an encouraged repeatable leveling option for lower level players.
    • Bump up the XP rewards for lower levels.
    • At level rare drops for gear of that dungeon level to make Story mode more rewarding as a leveling option. Make the gear skins match from those of that dungeon.
    • Include Rare Trinkets and Back pieces as new rewards

Explorable Mode being re-scaled for level 80 Content with better reward rate. 26 Explorable Dungeon Options

  • The Armor and weapons are already level 80 already anyway. Make gear stat-selectable (to core Tyria stat sets) exotics. Dungeon tokens are already universal, there is no longer a reason to restrict dungeon gear to specific stat types. Explorable Dungeons should be a proper avenue for getting level 80 soul-bound Exotic Gear for Tyria PvE.
  • The content difficulty is severely outdated and power creep-ed. Re-increase the difficulty and introduce more mechanics. Make the Dungeon paths select-able before entering the dungeon instead of voting in dungeon to help make it feel more fluid.
  • Dungeon relevant armor/weapon chest drop and daily reward chests for completion.
  • Include core Tyria Stat-Selectable Exotic Trinkets and Back pieces as new rewards
  • Bring back Twilight Arbor (explorable)/Fyonna's Path/Fyonna%27s_Path)
  • Edit: Quickplay Explorable Dungeons
  • Weekly 10 Mystic Coins for Currency + Tokens of Dungeon Delving

I love that we have a reason to get people to visit our homesteads beyond just daily gathering. This daily haunted bell achievement really inspired me to decorate for the holiday. Please give me seasonal reasons to redecorate, Anet.

(Come visit my homestead when you see me in lfg festivals 👻)

Happy spooky season!

Edit: Mind the dragons, they're off their cycle

[Fluff] Anyone else feel like Vloxx needs a hug? Spoiler

Just finished Visions of Eternity and I can't help but feel bad for Vloxx. So many good intentions and generally a good guy who got a touch overambitious. You can see how pained he was dealing with the situations that caused him to do what the did. I think he need a hug and to become the commander's friend.

[Build] How does GW2 work as a solo Thief?

I play Deadeye, and am currently playing through the PoF story. And I notice, I’m dying constantly. I have full exotic gear, the right one for my build, sigils, etc. I have my fair share of time in the game, just put off the PoF story for a while. I’m at a level 80 proper build, going after a Deadeye guide. Now playing the story however, for once I get absolutely smashed. Many attacks take a massive chunk of HP immediately. Right now in Chapter 11, the big war, my HP drops by at least a quarter very regularly. With the amount of enemies for example, sure I have my evades, and some dashes, but once that’s used, then what? And then, there’s not even much to heal up as Thief, no? So how exactly does this class play? Survive? Also, these issues also translate into general open world, however not as dramatic. Still to a degree though.

[Question] What's the best use of no longer needed ascended gear?

I've looked across reddit and online and there's been different answers over the years. What's the most current best use of each ascended gear type (Weapon, armor, ring, amulet, etc.)? I've seen research vs. sell vs. salvage. There's also back and forth about what to do with rings to make it the best use. Thank you!

[Fluff] Non-spoopy Halloween fashion

I've been seeing lots of people change up their fashion to look spoopy for Halloween (the true endgame) and most of the stuff I've seen are amazing, but the ones I love best are the non-spoopy ones. I love seeing toons that look a bit "grounded". Here's a few of mine.

Happy Halloween!!

[Discussion] Friend rant

Hello everyone.

Today I just felt "betrayed" and honestly couldn't understand why there's a (I don't know if this is the accurate word to describe it) resentment towards the game from people I know.

Context, I live in Mexico and the default MMORPG is WoW or FF because it's what it was taught via the internet, memes and translations, etc. And maybe not only Mexico, I know see a huge part of Central and South America (Maybe excluding Brazil bc they are built different lol).

Having said that, I have friends that pay WoW and don't play it, have friends that hop from mmo to mmo always skipping GW2, they have basically told me, "You play my mmo, I'll play your mmo" that second part haven't happened yet and the excuses seem... weird... every single time. Deep down I think that is fear of jumping into a game this old and feeling "noob" because one of the excuses are (before GW3 was announced) "The graphics are outdated", "they need a gameplay update (coming from someone that has literally 0mins at the game)", When there's a GW3 maybe I'll play it with you".

I've sank hours playing Aion1 and 2, Black Desert, WoW (free version), FF, albion.... even Destiny and Warframe. I'm not saying those are bad games, what is weird to me and frustrating is their refusal to try the game.

I accepted this but today a friend said something that sort of pissed me off. I was talking about my experience on Aion2 (the boob simulator) and I told him that I'll keep on trying to play the game and try to find something, because the actual fact that you auto path everything and can-do macros turned me off bad, is basically a glorified mobile game (sorry if you liked the game, not my cup of tea). He understood that and told me (this is what triggered me)

"Trust me, endgame PvE is very good. Took me like 40h~ to get to that point but it's worth it only if you are into PvE, because PvP is a pay to win unless you want to accept Aion2 as a job"

(I literally created a F2P account just to see what was actually locked behind a paywall and hit 80 in 15h and 20m, 23%WorldCompl full exotic armor and weaps, If their issue is the time sink to get into lategame... well no excuse. If the issue is sive, well, there are many many sales on steam and official page. If the issue is time, well create a character and return in 15y so you can get amazing rewards, do a wb and return after15 years to still be "optimized")

We were on a Discord call with other friends that also play MMOs and one of them said "ok but is technically possible not to pay and be good?" -yes but unreal
Other said, "well a monthly sub/battle pass isn't that expensive" -not at all
I was in the back just listening and remembered the same 3 friends telling me the following.
Friend 1: "I hated that the mounts are behind a paywall so after the tutorial I quit" (the friend that said that the monthly sub or pass is not an issue)
Friend 2: "Wow, so much content locked behind expansions" (Plays Final Fantasy Online, has all expansions and plays a gatcha since forever) (I was opening Black Lion Chests bc they gifted 2 keys and my friend wanted to see the cosmetics, after that I showed him the map and that's what turned him off, maps behind expansion wall)
Friend 3: (I've played Aion, Black Desert and NewWorld with him just to be told "maybe when gw3 launches) "Expansions are way too expensive and I don't have the same free time as before" Brother... you main Dota2 and sank 40h on Aion2 that will die very soon at least in the west bc of the monetization system.

I really do hope GW3 is a masterpiece and GOTY so if my friends tell me "Oh god hidden gems! let's play together to get the Hall of Monuments rewards" I'll send them far. Because I told them about the system, they think that just subscribing to an email list, they will have the beta for GW3. I'm 51% certain that there will be prios for GW2 players especially for a certain lvl of HoM progress.

If they just actually try the game and give it an opportunity, I'll shut my mouth... I swear.

Sadly, I deep down think that they actually don't want to play with me... only GW2, because any other game they drag me into, yes.
Sorry I just wanted to vent. I know there's amazing ppl in-game but playing with irl friends always hits different.

Wish everyone a great MadKing Event and see you around! Hall of Monuments grind soon!👀

[Fluff] My first big achievement :)

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

I'm still a huge noob, but this was my first big goal in Guild Wars 2, and I finally did it! Thanks to this amazing community, I've learned so much about this beautiful game while slowly ticking off all those little dots on the map.

Along the way, I completed my personal story, collected enough mastery points to unlock autoloot (seriously, what an incredible QoL upgrade!), stumbled into my first world boss, fought an enormous fire elemental, completed a few fractals, joined a huge group taking down rift bosses, and even dipped my toes into WvW. I'm still pretty confused by WvW, but I'm already much less intimidated by the PvP side of the game!

I know core map completion might be a small achievement for a lot of you veterans, but it feels really good to finally see that number hit 100% for a noob like myself. I'm excited to keep learning, spend more time in WvW, run more fractals, and eventually explore all the dungeons at least once. There's still so much of this game left for me to discover, and I can't wait! I really enjoyed the personal story, and am super excited to see how the expansions play out. I currently have the living worlds, heart of thorns, and path of fire.

Honestly, I'm a little sad I didn't give this game more of a chance when I bought it at launch. But I'm so happy to be experiencing it now, and the welcoming community has made coming back all the better. Thank you all for being such a breath of fresh air in the gaming world. 🖤
