Differences between the PS2 and Remaster versions at Baaj Temple
EDIT: The video quality was reduced by Reddit so the difference in sharpness cannot really be seen. This video is only useful for seeing the difference in lighting. Obviously the Remaster is HD and the PS2 version is not, even using an emulator. Playing with a 60fps mod also massively improves the Remaster, but that is not shown here.
---
I'm brand new to video editing and wanted a practice project to get started and decided it would be on the differences between the PS2 version of Final Fantasy X and the PC Remaster version. I've only worked with the very beginning of the game, and that has taken me all day to learn the editing software, but I decided to share what I have so far in case anyone finds any of it interesting.
Obviously the Remaster version has a PS2-like Tidus mod installed, and I'm also playing and recording that version of the game in 60fps, but I'm guessing Reddit will change everything to 30fps. The PS2 version is played on PCSX2 emulator with models rendered at 1440p resolution (4x native).
All the audio is from the Remaster version.
I was shocked at how different the lighting was for Baaj Temple. I don't think the whole game is like that, but I look forward to finding out.
Does anyone know if a lighting mod would even be a possibility?
Again, I'm brand new at video editing and did this just for practice, so forgive how amatuer it looks.

Want to enjoy FFX for the first time? Here’s a quick guide to mindful gaming with zero useless grinding
Honestly, if I were jumping into this game for the very first time today, this is exactly the kind of guide I wish I had in my hands.
I’ve noticed a lot of people hesitating to start FFX because they’re afraid of the grind or missing stuff, so I wanted to throw together a quick, totally spoiler-free survival guide for first-timers.
Here is how to keep your playthrough smooth, fun, and grind-free:
Play on PC if you can. The PC version has built-in speed boosters and quality-of-life features bound to the F1–F5 keys. Seriously, they save a ton of time during routine exploration.
Stick to the Standard Sphere Grid. Right at the start, the game will ask you which grid layout you want. Just pick the Standard one and don't overthink it. Just naturally fill in every cell along your path as you play through the story.
Don't run from fights, and swap your characters. Try not to flee from random battles. Also, a huge pro-tip: make sure every single character does at least one action in battle (even just a basic attack or defending). That way, the whole team gets XP and no one falls behind.
Pay attention to enemy types. The game literally teaches you which character counters which enemy .
Stuck on a boss? Look up tactics, NOT grind spots. If a boss kicks your butt, do not listen to people who tell you to go grind for 10 hours. You absolutely do not need to do that on a casual run. Just look up a quick tactical guide to figure out the boss's weaknesses. It’s all about strategy, not raw stats.
It’s totally fine to miss things. Don't stress about doing a 100% perfect run. If you try to glue your eyes to a walkthrough for every single millimeter of the game, it’ll completely kill the fun. Just enjoy the ride.
Bother the NPCs. Talk to every NPC you run into 2 or 3 times, even if they repeat themselves at first, you will find something interesting.
Check your minimap for hidden paths. Keep a close eye on the map. Sometimes there are faintly marked side paths or dead ends. Follow them to the very end—who knows maybe something awaits you there?
Just focus on the story. FFX is huge and definitely has replay value. If you stumble upon some side activities or minigames you absolutely hate , just walk away and keep moving with the story. You can't permanently screw up your main game anyway.
Hope this helps you fully enjoy your first time with this absolute masterpiece!

I'm confused about how Khimari is considered useless
I did a quick loop around his sphere grid then went onto wakkas and he has been going strong. The utility of wakka (blind, silence etc) with piercing weapons has been great. I also used the only skill sphere I picked up to grab steal so I have a thief for the ronso brothers. I could have also sent him down aurons path but as I wanted to send rikku down there with the sphere I won in blitzball I didn't want 3 people on that path. Hes played mostly like a faster auron for the majority of the game, now I'm about 2/3 through wakkas grid he's becoming accurate enough to hit the doggy's.
I am also playing a challenge of only use 3 characters per battle, can swap at start to reconfigure but that's it. Maybe the versatility helps. Even so if I had sent him down aurons he woulda been a much quicker auron from the getgo. His starting atrength wasn't much short of aurons either.

Finally done it!
I was 14 when I first started playing this game, but I never actually beat it or got to see the ending. Now, 20 years later, I’ve finally done it!
I got goosebumps all over my body watching the ending. What a masterpiece!

Only took about a dozen tries 😭🙏
Shout out to KingpinGames YouTube guide. I've beaten it twice in the past, but this time was the smoothest by far thanks to that simple vid.
Just finished Zanmato-ing D Bahamut so now I can finally use Caladbolg.

Is there a solution to this? Is this a known issue?
I've been playing through Final Fantasy X on Steam and occasionally I get an error message like this, after which the game freezes. It wasn't really an issue before, happening every few hours at most, nothing too major.
But now it happens in almost every battle, so I'm basically stuck.
I am currently at Mt. Gagazet, right before the battle against S Flux. If that matters.
A rough translation of the error message:
"FFX.exe - Invalid image
D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY
FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster\magicFiles\FFX\magic_0162.dll is
either not designed to run on Windows
or contains an error, Install the
program with the original installation media, or
contact the system administrator or
software suppliers to get support.
Error status 0xc0e90002."
I've already re-installed the game twice, ran it as an administrator and verified file integrity.

PS2 Version of FFX Port to PC
Hey Guys, I'm working on reverse engineering FFX for the PS2 using REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) and I managed to completely do the VU1 interpreter so far. It can now go in-game and render most of the 3D with minor glitches and missing elements. At the pace I'm going, I should have a full port of the game done by the end of this week along with an installer/executable.
Here is a screenshot of Tidus on the initial scene from the beginning.
Let me know if any of you would play this!
Personally, I could never get over how the faces and more looked on the remaster versions. Maybe after I'm done with the port I can work on making HD textures, UI and more.

Got to Meet Tidus' VA!!
As the title implies, I was able to meet James Arnold Taylor at Fan Fest since it was close to where I live and had him autograph my PS2 copy of FFX (excuse the black splotch over his name since I don't want my name being shown lol). Super chill dude so it was definitely worth it

Revisiting Final Fantasy X
It's been a very long time since I last played FFX, and as I got a PS2 in August, I thought it made for a perfect excuse to revisit it. Here's what I thought!
TLDR: a very good game; not my favourite Final Fantasy but still a compelling one when it comes to a lot of the writing, let down by how slow and grindy it can be. Overall, pleased with this replay!

Did you know the Buster Sword is actually hidden inside Final Fantasy X?
While digging through the original FFX game files, I found something I really wasn't expecting to see: Tidus with Cloud's Buster Sword.
The model is actually included in the game data as an unused weapon for Tidus. Apparently it was used as a placeholder during the development of FFX and was simply left in the final game files.
Which means that yes, technically the Buster Sword has been sitting inside Final Fantasy X this whole time.
I love finding stuff like this in old games, unused models, strange leftovers, development assets and little details that were never meant to be seen normally.
I've recently added FFX PS2 support to the viewer I've been working on, alongside FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX on PS1, so you can inspect this and a lot of other original game assets directly in the browser.
If you're into this kind of thing, you can explore it here:

Oh come on nintendo! 😑
Got all the mainline final fantasy on the switch and for final fantasy X/X-2 remaster , X is on the cartridge but X-2 is downloadable....except it say "currently not distributing" but crazy enough the full digital version of both games is there for switch/ switch 2 so if i want to play X-2 I have to pay full price for a game I already have.
Honestly I complaining too much since I still have the og X-2 on ps2 and this remaster on the ps3 but i just slightly venting here 😅
At least i can play X on here since it physical One of my top 3 favourite final fantasy 😊
