How do we think they are going to handle the scale when it comes to dropping in anywhere on the planet? Seems like well over half of the world in rebirth is covered in fog on the map. Do we think the entire world will be uncovered and that we will be able to land anywhere? Seems like a serious amount of open space in every region. Thoughts?

Let me say at the top that I don't really know where this is going. I have no thesis statement, just thoughts and impressions that have been stuck in my head for the last 2 years, and I want to write them down somewhere to maybe help make sense of them before Revelation comes out.
In May of 2024, I was coming toward the end of my first playthrough of Rebirth when I got very sick. Several days of nausea, nightly shaking chills, and just generally feeling like death. Because I never had the classic symptoms of right lower abdominal pain, I waited a few days to go to the doctor, by which time I was nearly septic from appendicitis. One emergency surgery later and I was stuck at home recovering for the next two weeks with not much to do but finish Rebirth.
Like a majority of 30-somethings, I'd never really had a brush with death before. Getting that sick and finding out that you were within a day of needing an extending hospital stay (or worse) is kind of a lot to process. This is why I think it was really fitting that I was in Rebirth's Endgame at the time.
I don't know what it would be like to play the end of Rebirth under normal conditions, but post-op and on pain meds, it was hallucinatory bouncing between different timelines and trying to keep track of which dog Stamp is, but it was also deeply affecting. The date Aerith and Cloud have in alt Midgar as the world is about to end feels like watching a funnel cloud move in over your neighborhood. It's dread.
Dread is the clearest word I have to describe that sequence, that whole few weeks of my life. Dread of the end, brought by Sephiroth. Dread of my end, brought by an accident of fragile human biology. Dread of Aerith's end, an inevitable fate that on some level I think we all hoped to avert, and remains unclear if we did. And in that last cutscene, dread of whatever has happened to Cloud, as he hallucinates? Aerith and hides the Black Materia from the rest of the party. The funnel cloud is upon us all now, and Cloud says "Don't look up."
Like I said, I don't necessarily have a thesis statement here, other than life is fragile, hug your loved ones. But I think I'm kind of trauma bonded to this series now, and I'm ready to see how it all ends.

Since the release date reveal trailer, I've avoided a lot of the preview content that is being released. I'm very much interested and hyped, but the game isn't too far away at this point. I saw a few content creators release big impressions of Chapter 1 and I've just not gone near it.
With Remake and Rebirth I gobbled every piece of preview content there was but felt like changing it up this time and leaving most of it as a surprise for the release.

Hi everyone,
I recently got to spend some hands-on time with the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Revelation. I am sure you have seen a few of these at this point in the past week or so but as with most of our previews this is mostly spoiler free and only goes into the combat and mechanics of the final part of this trilogy. And unlike many others there is both a written and a video version of this preview for your preference. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer any that I can, but do keep in mind there might be a few things I am not allowed to talk about still. Hope you all enjoy!
Written Preview - https://www.rpgfan.com/2026/10/14/final-fantasy-vii-revelation-hands-on-2/

So I just finished Remake as my first-ever FF game. I tried OG FF7 a couple of times when I was younger but never made it past the opening, mainly because I didn't like the combat. I know some people enjoy reading newcomers' impressions, so I thought I'd share a few thoughts.
Overall, I liked the game more than I expected, mainly because I got invested in the characters. I knew most of them from Kingdom Hearts, but the KH versions are basically alternate characters, so it was nice to see them in their native environment.
One of my biggest takeaways is that this game is kind of nuts. It throws so much completely unpredictable, off the wall stuff at you. I also found the tone pretty bizarre, frequently jumping between serious, mature storytelling and zany, self-aware silliness. Sometimes the tonal shifts were so jarring that they left me confused. Is this common for FF?
The Wall Market dance sequence was probably the biggest example of this. It felt so out of nowhere that it was actually distracting, especially given how it felt like a total contrast with how Cloud had been characterized up to that point. (I actually think Cloud might be canonically gay, lol, but I'll save that rabbit hole for another time.) My favorite story beats were the slower, quieter moments that allowed for character development, like walking through the flower gardens with Aerith.
The combat was okay, but I never felt like I fully understood it. For the first half, most fights just felt like doing hit-and-run chip damage over and over. Things clicked more once I understood the importance of exploiting weaknesses and using party members' abilities. Still, I found the boss fights frustratingly gimmicky, especially when so many bosses have seemingly unavoidable ultimate attacks that completely delete your HP. I switched to Easy for the final stretch because it's ridiculous how dying to Whisper Bahamut requires restarting the entire endgame sequence from the beginning. Unfortunately, that made the Sephiroth fight piss easy, which was kind of a bummer.
I was really interested to see how the story played out, both because I've never experienced the OG story and also because I'd heard so much about how the Remake trilogy isn't actually a straightforward retelling of the OG, but is more like a reboot or even a meta sequel (?) that diverges from the original. I thought the story was generally fine, though it sometimes took very roundabout routes to get from point A to point B (I figured this is the padding that OG fans criticize the Remake for). Toward the end however, things really started to lose me. It felt like the game was expecting players to have knowledge of the OG's events, particularly regarding Sephiroth, whose identity and history with Cloud are never really explained (I also have no idea who Zack is or how he's connected to Cloud). That's a shame, because I really wanted to experience this legendary story through a modernized remake, but it seems that isn't quite what this trilogy is offering.
Anyway, I'll definitely play Intermission and probably continue with Rebirth and eventually Revelation, mainly just because I care about the characters now.
I'm a pretty casual, patient gamer who almost never plays new games. I think this is actually the first game released in the 2020s I've finished, so it was nice to get invested in a "new" game for once.

I finished Remake today and have not played the original game. I plan to play Rebirth really soon. But i have few questions about the story, where i maybe missed the answer in the game.
1) Sephiroth death - at the beggining of the story Cloud thinks he killed him, but not one flashback shows that ( they kind of show the opposite) and he doesnt question at all how is he still alive later in the game. Did i miss something or is it explained in Rebirth?
2) Cloud visions/headaches - Why does he have them? And what is the deal with that one flashback with Tifa that shows up like 3 times, i dont understand its importance.
3) Aerith powers - what does she do to Marlene and Red XIII exactly? Show them the future she somehow knows?
4) Avalanche attack - a nitpick, but Avalanche attack Shinra HQ at the end and after their chopper gets shot down they dissapear, so their whole attack was useless? Kind of a plot hole imo

The first time hearing Aerith perform "No Promises to Keep" as someone who knew her fate was a gut punch in the best and worst way imaginable. To this day, it still hits just as hard as that first watch. Even when I forget her destiny just for a moment, and I just watch Aerith sing her heart out as if I were an audience member, I just can't help but shed a tear, especially when I choose to have Cloud pursue her. The way she sneaks glances off to the side when delivering lines like "Until I met you", and other small moments and details just makes it all the more special. This is one of those iconic cutscenes in gaming where if you weren't holding a controller in your hand, you might just forget you were playing a video game and not watching a movie. This is as cinematic as cinematic gets. I will never get over just how special a character Remake and Rebirth allowed Aerith to be. Even with her already having the weight and emotion in the original FFVII, seeing and hearing her as opposed to the text dialogue from the OGs, how soft her voice was before converting to those powerful vocals? Few things are crafted so masterfully.

This is more of a shower thought, and not to discredit the OG voice cast of the film at all, but it would be cool (as a post-remake bonus) to see the Remake cast redub the film as their respected characters. What do you think?

The fact that we now have confirmation of items being accessible + hard mode right out of the gate for first playthroughs makes me wonder how the team are gonna approach the difficulty throughout, any ideas?
r/FFVIIRemake • u/Asto_Vidatu • 1d ago
Still in progress, the meteor and blood splatter need filled in and some more detail, and eventually my idea is to incorporate my favorite slasher villains like Ghostface, Michael Myers, Jason, Freddy's severed arm with the claw, Art the Clown, the Lament Configuration box from hellraiser broken, etc. because the king of all slashers the Tonberry killed them all...gonna be a whole leg sleeve eventually!
It took me so long to find an artist that could bring my vision to life and finally found him...his shading technique is amazing...7 hours of pain totally worth it!
Anyone else have any Final Fantasy tats to share?

There'll still be a Hard Mode thank god but my question is if you can turn up the difficulty to Hard and Enemy Strength to Dynamic, is it still going to be hard?

Spoilers for OG game and for the beginning of Rebirth ahead.
So I'm playing the OG for the 5th time, and just thought I'd share something small I noticed during the flashback sequence in Kalm and how it relates to complaints about the Remake series.
I have seen a few posts here and in the other FF subs that the Remake trilogy "cleaned up" Midgar too much, that there is no punk underground aesthetic anymore, that the places look clean and people look well-dressed.
Well, in Zach's letter to Tifa in the OG Kalm flashback, Zach is talking about his arrival to Midgar and he mentions how surprised he was that even people of the slums had sparkling clean rooms.
That's all, just wanted to share this tiny detail.

I've been thinking about Rufus, his possible identity as Sarruf, and how the Wutai storyline might play out in Revelation. And somehow, that led me to a theory that could connect several events from the OG with what we've seen in Rebirth.
This might be a bit of a stretch, but I'd love to hear what others think!
First, let's talk about Rufus and Sephiroth.
By the end of Rebirth, Rufus realizes that Sephiroth has been manipulating him through Glenn, using the conflict with Wutai to distract him from Sephiroth's actual plans.
But there's a problem. Rufus might have figured out what's happening, but that doesn't mean he can simply stop the conflict. He's the president of Shinra, and tensions between Shinra and Wutai have already escalated. Wutai has its own reasons to hate Shinra, and Rufus can't just announce that everything was a misunderstanding and expect everyone to calm down.
However, what if Rufus has another way to influence the situation?
Sarruf.
If the theory that Rufus is Sarruf turns out to be true, he might be in a unique position. As Shinra's president, he could try to prevent further military escalation on Shinra's side. And as Sarruf, he could attempt to calm things down within Wutai and the SRC.
Of course, this would be incredibly risky, especially if his true identity were exposed.
And that's where the Turks come in. Remember how Reno, Rude, and Elena were supposedly on vacation in Wutai in the OG?
What if Square Enix brings that back in Revelation, but gives their vacation an entirely different meaning? What if Rufus decides to travel to Wutai himself, disguised as Sarruf, to try to stabilize the situation before an actual war breaks out? And what if he brings the Turks along?
Officially, Reno, Rude, and Elena are simply enjoying their vacation in Wutai.
Unofficially, they're accompanying Rufus on a secret mission, protecting him and making sure they can get him out if something goes wrong.
I could even imagine Rufus finally revealing his identity as Sarruf to the Turks before they leave. After all, if he really intends to appear in person, he'd need people he can trust. And while Tseng probably wouldn't accompany them because of his injuries, I could see Rufus telling him the truth as well, assuming he's conscious and able to communicate.
There's also something interesting about the people who originally knew Rufus was Sarruf. As far as I remember from The First Soldier, Glenn, Matt, and Lucia were the ones who knew about his identity. Glenn is dead, while Matt's and Lucia's current fates are uncertain.
So Rufus might not have anyone left who can help him maintain that identity. Which would make involving the Turks even more plausible.
But here's where Sephiroth could turn the entire situation against Rufus. What if Sephiroth already expects Rufus to try something like this? He knows Rufus has figured out that he's being manipulated. And if Sephiroth knows Rufus is Sarruf, he could potentially use that information to destroy Rufus's attempts to prevent the war.
Imagine Rufus actually manages to calm things down in Wutai. Maybe negotiations are going surprisingly well.
And then Glenn appears. Or rather, Sephiroth, using Glenn's appearance.
Glenn is a highly respected figure within the SRC and Wutai, so his words would carry considerable weight. And he reveals that Sarruf is actually Rufus Shinra.
The president of the very company Wutai considers its enemy. Rufus would be in an almost impossible position.
If he denies it, why would Wutai believe him over Glenn? If he admits it, he confirms that Shinra's president has secretly been influencing the SRC. And even if Rufus had genuinely been trying to prevent a war, his actions could suddenly look like another Shinra manipulation. Instead of calming the situation, his intervention could make everything worse.
Which might be exactly what Sephiroth wants.
And now comes the part involving the Weapons and the Sister Ray.
I have to admit something here: I vaguely remember hearing or reading something about Sephiroth being able to control or influence the Weapons in Part 3. But I genuinely don't remember whether that was ever confirmed, whether it was just a theory, or whether my brain somehow combined two completely different pieces of information and decided, "Yep, Sephiroth can partially control the Weapons." 😂
So please correct me if I'm mixing things up!
But let's assume, purely for the sake of this theory, that Sephiroth can somehow influence at least one of the Weapons. What if the attack on Midgar isn't just an attack on Shinra, but a deliberate attempt to eliminate two threats at once?
In the OG, Rufus orders the Sister Ray to be moved from Junon to Midgar. And we've already seen the cannon in Midgar in footage for Part 3.
We also know how important the Sister Ray becomes in the OG. It fires at Diamond Weapon and ultimately destroys Sephiroth's barrier at the Northern Crater.
So if Sephiroth knows what the cannon is capable of, he might have a very good reason to want it destroyed or disabled. And Rufus himself could become another problem. He has already figured out that Sephiroth was manipulating him. He's trying to prevent the war with Wutai, and he might be taking further steps to interfere with Sephiroth's plans.
So what if Sephiroth decides to get rid of both threats? The Sister Ray and Rufus Shinra. He could influence a Weapon to attack Midgar, specifically targeting the cannon and Shinra Headquarters.
And that would bring us back to another major event from the OG. Diamond Weapon's attack on Midgar and Rufus's apparent death.
In the original game, Diamond Weapon attacks Midgar, and Rufus is seemingly killed when Shinra Headquarters is hit.
What if Revelation keeps that event but adds another layer to it? What if Sephiroth deliberately orchestrates the attack because Rufus has become a threat to his plans?
It could even be a combination of motives: preventing the Sister Ray from being used against him, eliminating Rufus, and keeping Shinra occupied. And perhaps the attack doesn't go entirely according to Sephiroth's plan. After all, if the story follows the OG, the Sister Ray still needs to fire and destroy the barrier at the Northern Crater.
What I find especially interesting about this possibility is the irony.
Rufus realizes Sephiroth has been manipulating him. He tries to counter that manipulation by using his secret identity as Sarruf to prevent a war.
But Sephiroth might have anticipated exactly that reaction. He exposes Rufus's identity, potentially causing the conflict to escalate even further.
And when Rufus continues interfering with his plans, Sephiroth uses a Weapon to attack Midgar, targeting both the Sister Ray and Rufus himself.
In other words, Rufus wouldn't necessarily fall into Sephiroth's trap because he failed to recognize the manipulation.
He might fall into it precisely because he recognized it and tried to do something about it. And honestly, I think that would be a pretty interesting continuation of their conflict in Rebirth.
Of course, this entire theory depends on several things that haven't been confirmed, especially Rufus actually being Sarruf, him personally traveling to Wutai, and Sephiroth being able to influence the Weapons.
But I find it interesting how these different storylines could potentially connect.
What do you think? Could the Turks' vacation in Wutai become a secret mission involving Rufus and Sarruf? And could Sephiroth's manipulation of Rufus eventually tie into Diamond Weapon's attack on Midgar?
I'd love to hear other theories or possible holes in this one!

You are on an 8 hour flight and you've been given the option of any free seat. Where will you sit?
1 - Barret
2 - Aerith
3 - Johnny
4 - Wedge
5 - Madame M
6 - Between Cloud and Sephiroth
7 - Jessie and Rude
8 - Biggs and President Shinra
9 - Between Tifa and Reno
10 - Scarlet and Heidegger
I'd choose either 2 or 1.

Ever since I reached Nibelheim, Zack has been following me around. He's not part of my party because he's not attacking anything, but he just follows me around.
I can't find anything about this online but it's driving me crazy because it's ruining my immersion.
For reference, I did have FFVIIHook and Dresscode installed, but I have since removed them. I also had Shader Injector installed and removed that at the same time.
Has anyone else gotten this before? Is there a way I can delete Zack from my game? I've verified all my files on Steam and Zack still comes back every time I boot the game up
UPDATE: I loaded an older save and Zack doesn't follow me in that save. He still shows up in the most recent save, so Dresscode must have messed with a game flag. I'll redo everything up to the Cait Sith section using my old save. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
