Discussion How good was Phil Neville?

I was just thinking back to the time I was chosen to follow Everton back in around 2009, and the great team we had and went on to have in the later period of Moyes' 1st term, and the early Martinez years. I don't remember much of Phil Neville and his performances. I was 8-12 years old at this time before he left in 2013 so I guess I was more attracted by the flashier players - Baines, Pienaar, Saha etc. The only game I remember which involved Neville heavily was that 0-3 defeat to Wigan in the FA Cup in 2013. I remember him having an absolute stinker in that game lol.

So I guess my question is for people who remember that period well - how good was Phil Neville for Everton?

Discussion Having a Hard Time Understanding Fans Here

People here really don’t seem to understand the situation we’re in.
We have one of the thinnest squads in the league, and our owners seem desperate to sell the club. Yet, for some reason, some fans still expect us to finish in the top six.

Objectively, compare our squad with those of the teams above us. Look at their squad depth, financial resources, recruitment, and overall stability. What exactly makes people think we should be finishing above them?

I genuinely believe Moyes is working his ass off under extremely difficult circumstances. Of course, he’s not beyond criticism, and results matter. But judging him solely on results without considering the circumstances he’s working under is simply unfair.

What I find hardest to understand is why people expect us to perform miracles while expecting teams in far better positions than ours to underperform.
Why should we be the ones punching above our weight, while teams with stronger squads, better resources, and more stable management are somehow expected to do worse than us?

I’m not saying we shouldn’t have ambitions. I’m saying expectations need to be grounded in reality. You can’t expect top-six results while ignoring the problems within the squad and the club’s management.
Personally, I believe Moyes is getting the absolute best out of this team under the circumstances. The last thing we need right now is the ridiculous idea of sacking him. What we need is to get behind him, trust the process, and support him instead of making him the scapegoat for problems that go far beyond the manager.

Tickets

I'm planning to go to the Everton vs Coventry match on 6 November with some friends, and I've been trying to figure out how to buy tickets for the past few months.

From everything I'd read, I was under the impression that I'd need to purchase some kind of Everton membership to be able to buy tickets. However, today I went directly to Everton's official website and noticed that I could select seats for the match. I picked a few, and it looks like I can actually go ahead and buy the tickets without having any membership at all.

Am I missing something here, or is it really possible to buy tickets this way without a membership?

Discussion The Martinez Booing - lies

So I’ve read how Everton fans are a disgrace for booking Emi Martinez. Well I think first up the commentators (beglin and Daniel Mann on my feed) are a disgrace. Anyone who knows scousers and evertonians cannot reconcile Everton fans booing an injured player.

Well they didn’t. At the same time Martinez is lifted off, the Chelsea in the away end immediately to Martinez left start singing ‘we pay your benefits’ - ie scousers don’t have jobs and we pay for it. Add that to the constant poverty chanting and those were what the evertonians were booing.

Personally I’m disgusting people would think so low of our fan base. They actually clapped the injured keeper off.

I know however there are a lot of new international fans who haven’t been to a game or know match going blues so I want to set the record straight here - as should the club with a reach that is worth while.

It’s fucking bull shit they can sing about people struggling to pay the bills and mock the city and out fans and yet our fans are the ones everyone paints as the bad guys.

Have a fucking word.

Edit: looks like some where booing him. Okay then, up the shit house toffees.

Meme Moyes has to go.

Seriously. We had a disaster problem in the summer. We only had beto and Barry as attackers. The board made thongs easy with a fantastic window that took away that headache and took beto out of the equation.

Its only mid October and already he has got a loss on the board. We are currently 7th. When will people wake up. The league is on our grasp. Moyes is holding us back from greatness.

Transfer | Rumour Everton ready to make January transfer move with two targets named

Thumbnail
sports.yahoo.com
40 Upvotes

According to TeamTalk, the Merseyside club have narrowed focus to two striker targets, Esteban Lepaul and Dion Beljo, as they look to strengthen in January.

Esteban Lepaul emerges as leading Everton option
Of the names under discussion, Lepaul appears to hold significant appeal. TeamTalk's reporting says Everton have "emerged as leading contenders to sign Rennes striker Esteban Lepaul", with the 26-year-old building an excellent record in France. Since joining Rennes in summer 2025, he has scored 24 goals in 42 appearances, with "four goals in six league games this season" further strengthening his profile.

There is wider interest in the Frenchman. Leeds United and Aston Villa are said to have checked on him, while Brentford and Brighton have also watched developments. Yet the key line is that "it's the Toffees whose interest is the strongest." That suggests meaningful groundwork may already be under way behind the scenes.

Dion Beljo remains firmly on radar
Lepaul is not the only option being examined. TeamTalk also reported that "Dinamo Zagreb striker Dion Beljo is another player on Everton's radar." Beljo, 24, offers a different physical profile at 6ft 5in and arrives with strong numbers of his own, having scored 12 goals in his last 14 matches, including 10 in seven league games.

Everton and The lack of collectively scoring goals

What is going on why are we not spitting the responsibility to score goals

It's becoming a joke

I get it's a strikers job to score

But we need to have the others scoring as well

How many times are we just going to do the same bloody thing.

Stop relying on one player and JUST SCORE COLLECTIVELY AS A TEAM!

Oh well sometimes a reality check is needed

p.s the slow passing and the late movement is officially pissing me off

Team Talk Norgaard

I think he was given a poor pass by George, so i dont exactly blame him for the goal at all, but its no secret he has the pace of a snail. Are we sure he can work in a non-possession / non-footballing based team? Brentford and arsenal they had all the ball, he will not have that luxury here, anyone else thinking about stylistically him maybe not fitting? Im not writing him off at all, but id like to see more of him to see if he can properly sit and perform.

Team Talk Maitland Niles

Am I the only one who thinks he looks out of position?

I think he should be more upfield, his assists and goals have been good but his defence is woeful. Think there is merit in converting him into a midfielder or think it’s just him settling into our defence?

Discussion Does David Moyes still have your support?

Yes he’s got a thin squad, but lineups and substitutions have been awful in the last few games. Any momentum that George and Dibling had gathered has now been lost with them being left out of the team.

I can’t help but look forward to life after Moyes. It isn’t worth paying ticket money for his football anymore. The game has moved on but he hasn’t. It’s time we started looking for a better man to lead this club.
