Hello, I'm new to dubai. I moved to a community in JVC and I see my neighbours using their talabat bags to dispose their garbage. Is that normal/allowed here?

🏠 Housing & Real Estate Landlord is keeping my deposit, what are my options?(im outside the country)

Earlier this year I moved into a shared student dorm as a working woman.

Rent was 3000 aed and the deposit for the first month was 500 aed.

I stayed there from jan 25th till march 7th.
For the second month i paid 3000 rent and 500 deposit again.

Once I left, I asked about my deposit and they said it would be returned in 21 days.

after waiting I asked about it again and they said they will send it during aug/sep.

When I asked in August they said September second week.

During September second week they said after September.

At this point I was completely over the whole situation and told him he has to send my deposit back immediately.

We had a few heated conversations and he said management would call me, after this he blocked me. I don't have any more contact information to contact him at. I have tried contacting their instagram and tiktok account, however they blocked me there as well.

I am in india, what are my options for getting my deposit back?

Sharing this beautiful image of Saturn captured by our team member, Arif Alblooshi, from Dubai!

It's always incredible to think that those rings are made up of countless pieces of ice and rock, and we're able to observe them from over a billion kilometres away.

Have you ever seen Saturn through a telescope? We'd love to hear about your experience!

🌇 Community Al Furjan - Public road safety- Master developer contacts or guidance?

Trying to seek if someone knows someone with the 6 degree of separation on who can help with the potential increase of accidents happening in the Furjan area with many news buildings but internal roads not having speed breakers or good visibility of cars coming out of buildings.

Who can I:
1) Reach out to or does anyone having experience solving this problem?
2) I had seen an accident and cannot get it out of my head which could’ve been easily avoided
3) RTA informed but they mention it’s master developer Nakheel
4) Master developer says roads are as per master plan but not investigating the actual risks, blind spots and huge potential risks.

What can one do in this situation?

6 months in Dubai and 6 months elsewhere

So, I have my freezone company in Dubai, and I think for tax purposes I need to live in Dubai for 6 months? And then can live elsewhere for 6 months? (Indian and Dubai tax rules apply for me as Indian citizen)

Has anyone been doing this already. Need to figure how this actually works

I’ve asked an accountant and lawyer about this, but wanted to check some stories of real ppl doing this too

Art House Cinema Censorship in UAE

Hello all. Wanted to understand cinema censorship in the UAE. Do art house cinemas here showcase movies with nudity, drug use and LGBTQ themes nowadays? I can see Cinema Akil has shown Old Boy before which has a lot of graphic sex

🔥 Rants & Complaints Du Agents Frustration

This is more of a rant as I've went through unacceptable behaviors from Du Agent visiting my house.

It all started yesterday when I was approached by a Du 3rd party agent on whatsapp (they put Du logo on their profile). They shared with me my current fixed line package details and told me it has expired and now im eligible to get a new contract and avail for 20% discount.

They offered me the same 250 mbps that im currently using with no contact and 6 months 20% off... I said OK

Next day they send a technician to my house, he had a normal outfit and his du lanyard, a du phone attachment for EID and a landline phone. He came in, checked the current router and told me to open up my du account on my phone, took snippet of my account number, last bill and my EID. Then he tells me we'll start to cancel your current contract, he connects his landline phone to my router and takes the phone and heads out to make a phone call.

He took a while, so i went to check what's happening, he saw me coming so he moved a little further. Then to my surprise I heard him say "my DOB is xxx (my DOB)" "my last du bill was xxx AED" "it not your problem its my problem" "I dont care, cancel my line" turned out he called Du customer support as ME to cancel my line.

I was furious and fuming that I interrupted his call and asked him if he was impersonating me on that call, he immediately didnt know what to say and said dont worry im from the processing team. I said I dont care, ARE YOU IMPERSONATING ME with my name, DOB and EID details to cancel MY line??? Aren't you from du can't you the cancelation in the back end?

The guy gave to me speak to his supervisor and when I explained that he is impersonating me ţo cancel my line without my consent. He said sir, we do this because you will get asked so many question during cancelation and this way is faster to get it done, which made me more angry. So they think I'm stupid? I don't know how to speak and cancel my line???

I told him then to get out of my apartment, asked him to give me his phone and deleted all photos he took from my account and EID from gallery and trash...

Then the guy who contacted me on whatsapp yesterday messaged me asking what's happening. Why am I no longer interested? Then offered to "fix" things by sending another technician which I've replied to that im be calling the police if anyone from them came to my house.

I called du and even visited one of their offices to make a formal complaint. Unfortunately no one monitors what those agents do and say. This was an extremely annoying thing to go through.

Auto finance situation

• Upvotes

So Initially saw a car on dubbizle and decided to finance it through dubbizle finance they actually asked for documents to prove my employment since my company is freezone company couldn’t provide employee id or any sort of id so I couldn’t procced further. I have golden visa so it doesn’t have a profession on my eid.

I applied for auto finance in enbd from a different contact and it got rejected due to negative field visit since the owner has two offices in the same space. I thought going to dealership itself will make the process easier so I explained the situation to the sales person they advised that we can go with eib so applied on eib and it got rejected due to company profile. I tried to apply for a credit card on dib same issue since people advised me to form a credit history before applying for auto finance.

Now because of these rejections my credit score is also affected now I’m stuck. Is there any advice or option I can consider on this situation.

Kids Riding Pit Bikes in Dubai Traffic… Are We Waiting for an Accident to Happen?

Post image
221 Upvotes

I’ve recently seen children riding pit bikes on public roads in Dubai, sharing the road with regular traffic
I understand that kids want to have fun, and there’s nothing wrong with riding dirt bikes in designated off-road areas. But riding them on public roads alongside cars is a completely different story
These bikes are small, difficult for drivers to anticipate, and potentially dangerous for both the children and other road users. If a child suddenly swerves into traffic or a driver has to brake unexpectedly, the consequences could be serious
As far as I understand, riding recreational motorcycles on paved public roads in Dubai is prohibited
Has anyone else encountered this, and what’s the best way to report it to the authorities? Would contacting Dubai Police or submitting a report through their app be the right approach?
I’m not looking to get anyone into unnecessary trouble. I just think this is a serious safety issue, and it would be better to address it before someone gets hurt

🌍 Travel & Tourism Couple of days in Dubai. Skydive?

I’m going to be in Dubai for a couple of days, and I’d love to do a skydive with skydive Dubai. I’m currently 80kg & actively loosing weight, in the gym 4x a week with a plan so that will come down by the time I go in Feb. I’m a 5’4 woman with a current BMI of 30.
Does anyone know if my current weight would pass and if not what I have to get down to?
I would like to be positive I’ll be allowed before I try because if I get there & they weigh me and are like “you a fatty soz” I’ll probably cry 🤣

Any info would be appreciated, also any other fun things to do in Dubai for two days would be appreciated!!

🍕 Food & Dining Restaurant with banquet hall recommendations

Hello everybody. Can you please suggest a vegetarian (or veggie friendly) restaurant that has a banquet hall or private area that can fit 40-50 people for an evening party? Preferably one that allows us to bring a karaoke setup or singer (not a loud DJ). I know of some hotels that do this but I'm looking for a nicer restaurant, which might be cheaper.

Thanks

🔥 Rants & Complaints This is Al Khail Gate. Every. Single. Night.

Thumbnail

Imagine you’re me. You’re coming home from work after an evening shift. You’re tapped out. You wanna see your family and relax - maybe even have dinner at the appropriate time. But you drive to your community and it’s nothing short of parking pandemonium.

Cars using the sidewalks as additional parking. Strewn out haphazardly. Some of the ones who get home earlier hog the slots meant for paying tenants so if you’re a tenant you’re entitled to a slot but it’s first come first served so you’re always getting screwed over by either a) the people who get home around 6-7ish b) folks who share one flat and have God knows how many cars between them and c) ppl who use motorcycles as a paperweight to hold specific parking slots hostage

Security and building management isn’t a help even. They’ve implemented sections that tenants can only access but for some reason: non tenants can still access them. I see who they are in the mornings: they pull up to the security barrier, call up the customer service in the box and they bypass the gates by saying “oh hurdur we just registered so our car isn’t on your system”. The system should be keeping these ppl out!

I’m tired, I’m pissed, running out of hope and feeling helpless. Is there really no way justice for us paying tenants to get proper parking and reach our homes on time?

tldr: Al Khail Gate parking is hell. Security/management not taking action. Where to get help?
