Recommendation Best place to post last minute yard sale?

• Upvotes

Hi all :)

I tried researching this before posting and checked the FAQ so I hope it’s ok I ask this here. I got a job out of the country and have some things I can no longer bring with me due to limited space/time. I’ve tried Facebook marketplace etc the last few days but no bites. Is there anywhere else I can post?

I have kitchen stuff, craft supplies, school supplies, decor and other miscellaneous things. These are all things I would have taken with me but sadly I couldn’t make the arrangements in time.

Anyone have any ideas? I don’t want to just throw it all away as it’s all in good condition. Or is anyone in search of some stuff?

Only thing is it’s currently all in a storage unit so as I can’t just have a ton of people come all at once as per the rental agreement.

I’m willing to let these things go for cheap (some things even free). As long as I can maybe get a few bucks to help with costs of moving I’m happy. Would love to see the things I loved and collected over the years go to someone who will love them too.

Thank you very much :)

EDIT: also have an IKEA hemnes tv stand and 2 white wooden barstools, projector screen, figure skates and a Wii with accessories.

Recommendation Best Carwash in Denver/Aurora area?

I just bought a new car and right now. I’m looking for a car wash place which is the automatic car wash that doesn’t scratch my new car paint

so I’ve been going to superstar car wash for a couple of times and I like it because they have a lot of amenities, but it’s kind of far away from my house

I’m looking for car wash that around Denver or Aurora and I’m also willing to pay subscription at the monthly subscription, do you guys have any recommendation?

Recommendation Singles Events in Denver?

I know this has been asked before, but it’s been a little while. Does anyone have any suggestions for dating events such as speed dating or mixers for singles in their 30s? Aware of 3 birds fit, but not any others that seem good or come recommended!

Recommendation Recommendations for trauma/PTSD therapists?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been on the hunt for a good trauma therapist for years now. Despite my best vetting efforts during preliminary meetings, I haven’t found a therapist who actually has structure to their sessions. I’ve gone through the process of starting, ending, and starting over again with a handful of clinicians over the years. I’m tired. Now im hoping that you lovely people can help make some recommendations based on therapists you’ve actually found helpful. I need some real true, productive trauma therapy.

Thank you, I appreciate your time :)

Local News Downballot Candidates Are More Important than Who Goes to Washington

Hey all,

If you're like me, you may have been conditioned to focus on national races. This focus, which really started in the Obama era, has left folks who tend to vote blue to ignore State Legislature races. BUT our Colorado State Representatives and Senators are closer to our door and matter way more in our day-to-day lives.

Please make sure that when you vote in the Midterms this year you fill out your entire ballot! Especially study the folks running for the Colorado House and Senate, who will be the last folks in the State Offices section (after the Federal races). Your CO State Senator may or may not be up for election this cycle, but your CO State House rep will be!

If you're interested, the below candidates in Colorado have the potential to flip House and Senate seats blue. Your $5 or $10 will go MUCH further to support their campaigns in the home stretch than money for state or federal office. I bucketed these after reviewing the previous elections in Ballotpedia and their reported funding in Colorado TRACER.

Highly Flippable (both blue/red candidates have raised similar funding and the last election cycle that went red was very close):

  1. Kevin Leung for State Senate District 30: Website for Platform and Donations
  2. Jacki Marsh for State House District 51: Website for Platform and Donations
  3. Jillaire McMillan State House District 19: Website for Platform and Donations
  4. Tommy Butler State House District 50: Website for Platform and Donations

Possibly Flippable (both blue/red candidates have raised similar funding but the last election cycle that went red wasn't very close)

  1. Mo Dower for House District 64: Website for Platform and Donations
  2. Christian Schilder for House District 39: Website for Platform and Donations
  3. Jeff Livingston for House District 15 (Scott Bottoms' old seat): Website for Platform and Donations

Long Shots (deep red areas with decent blue candidates with a chance, but have less funding):

  1. Justin Kurth for Senate District 4: Website for Platform and Donations
  2. Sarah Emery for House District 14: Website for Platform and Donations
  3. Michelle Tweed for House District 21: Website for Platform and Donations
  4. Michael Pierson for House District 22: Website for Platform and Donations
  5. Dez Packard for House District 48 (in 2024 the Republican was unopposed): No Website but ActBlue Donation LInk

Finally, if you think Colorado is pretty set at a state level, consider donating to some state legislature races in the South!

  • The organization Y'all Vote has partnered with the Oath Vote platform (alternative to ActBlue) and have raised over $340k for flippable state seats in all the Southern states!
  • This matters because state legislature draw state and federal maps after the census (or as of late, mid-cycle), it's harder to gerrymander when the Southern Republican state supermajorities are broken!
  • Link to Y'all Vote page.

Thanks for voting!

Help Where do dudes go BESIDES climbing gyms to make friends in Denver?

See above. I’ve been here 3 years. Most people seem to already be set in their friend groups or I get someone’s number to hang out but then I either don’t know what to do/invite them to or I invite them to something and they don’t seem interested.

It feels like I’m always the one putting in the effort to meet people. I think it partly may hurt that I often ask people to hang out the day of or the day before, and I know a lot of people already have plans by then.

Have any dudes here “mastered” the art of making friends?

Edit: Thanks so much everyone for the suggestions!! This has made me realize there’s tons of activities I haven’t tried. Definitely gonna follow some of these reccs.

Recommendation Cat People should not be overlooked for an amazing hangout spot

Went today for the first time and was shocked at how not busy it was. Cat People is on Leetsdale near Glendale and they have adoptable cats from Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue and every type of arts and craft you can think of, board games, and even an old Nintendo console to play. For $15 (or $60 for groups over 4), you can come and play as long as you want and they have coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. In comparison to other cat cafes this place is better as there is no time limit, lots of space, and the crafts and games are a blast! They also do special events like specific crafting classes.

Event Oktoberfest at Western Center Review!

I went yesterday and had a good time. Thought I’d share thoughts!

Will get the negative stuff out of the way. I tried taking the N line to the Brighton Station thinking I could walk it. In traditional Denver fashion there was no way to get across the train tracks legally that I could tell. So it drops you off about 500 yards from the event, but I had to walk around the tracks it was nearly 2 miles. If I’m a dumb ass and missed a crossing please tell me, but this is what Google Maps gave me and others were confused.

I finally got there and was extremely thirsty. Thankfully beer was available. Unfortunately it was very expensive and their steins aren’t liters. $14 for a half liter is ridiculous. I posted prices below. I asked what the difference was between a stein and limited edition stein. They showed me and the limited edition is the exact same thing except it has 2026. Needless to say I got the standard one and some hellis. All was forgiven because the Hofbräu Hellis was delicious off the tap omg. I have been craving a good German beer since visiting in May and my god it scratched the itch. I also had a shot of the apple stuff and it was delicious.

Next /r/denver ‘s own favorite governor Emperor /u/JaredPolis spoke to the crowd for a bit. The tent is mostly vip seating with a small section bar for peasants like me to get drinks at. There’s also another bar in the back by the Ferris wheel and porta potties. I walked around and scoped the food and merch booths. There are tables by the food trucks too. The pretzels were absolutely amazing though pricey. The Ferris wheel was actually decently priced at $5 nice view of the mountains and downtown. The merch was welcome too. I didn’t get anything in Munich when I was there because I traveled with only a carry on so I grabbed a cool Munich Oktoberfest hoodie for $50.

So biggest difference between it and the Oktoberfest downtown would be the space. It’s much bigger. I do wish the tents were bigger and had space for general admission. The beers being so expensive and not in liters was my only other complaint. It’s definitely less crowded and more family friendly if that helps anyone. Feel free to asks questions. Curious to see what you all think.

Recommendation Was wondering if anyone is interested in a trade?

I was wondering if anyone is interested in trading services? Life is hard and I feel like it could be really fun to trade for things. For example I have a ton of canvases and can paint some cool anime art. So far I have painted three one piece related things (2 on canvas one on a skateboard). I also have painted spongebob art and can do other things. I can also send pictures of the art i have made previously. I went to school for baking and pastry arts so I am good at making fresh cakes / sweets. I can make press on nails in almost any design. I can do basic sewing and i have so many more arts and craft possibilities.

I am hopeful to find someone to tattoo the tower from tangled onto my leg. Or even a small tattoo of a date. I also would like to learn how to crochet and YouTube/ books aren't being very helpful.

If anyone has ideas or advice or wants to offer trades as well for art or other creative things please let me know!

Help Ballot Not Delivered - Jefferson

Posting here because it’s got the most users.

I am in Jefferson and my ballot was lost. It showed in the USPS informed delivery at the same time as my wife’s, which was delivered.

I contacted the Jeffco clerk/recorder to request a replacement ballot and they said they would contact USPS before they could issue a replacement, but recommended I contact USPS myself as well.

I submitted a lost mail report with the picture from informed delivery, all of the tracking info and a description and my request was denied for lack of information.

I am due to have a baby on 11/4 and almost certainly won’t be able to get out to vote, so having the ballot filled out a head of time is critical for me.

Are there any options for getting a replacement ballot on time ?

Recommendation Seeking Cat Rehoming Resources for Smokey

Thumbnail

An elderly friend recently had a fall which resulted in significant injuries and the need to move to a nursing home for long term care. Unfortunately, she is not able to bring her beloved cat, Smokey. She’s concerned that if brought to an animal shelter, they will put him down, so we are trying to find Smokey a new, loving home through an organization that will help with the rehoming process. Below is what she shared with us about Smokey.

Smokey is an 11 year old gray tabby, born on 3.22.205 and adopted from DDFL on 5.22.2015 at 8 weeks old as a feral kitten. He’s a gray tabby who’s neutered and microchipped, but not up to date on his vaccines. Smokey is a sweetheart with family, but not so much with strangers. He will smell your feet, then go hide. He hisses but has NEVER been aggressive. He eats mostly dry Purina gentle food, wet food is hit and miss with ocean whitefish and tuna pate being his preferred type. He is good with his litter box and occasionally pukes a fur ball. Smokey will hop on my lap daily for snuggles. He sleeps wherever he chooses, usually on the end of the recliner or in the closet on a crate with padding. He likes to look out the window, too. Smokey has always been an indoor cat, never around other animals. He is my friend friend and would do best with one or two adults.

Local News North America’s largest wildlife overpass is working. I-25 collisions near Castle Rock are down 91%.

"Starting in January, Colorado drivers will be able to opt in to a $5 fee that goes toward the construction of wildlife passes across the state, similar to the $29 fee for the Keep Colorado Wild pass, which has generated $146 million since it launched in 2023.
“With your $5, it might not sound like a lot, but it adds up, and it’s something our state genuinely cares about,” O’Rourke said."

Give me your recs for people who would be able to do this kind of re-work, if ya know any! Thanks guys.

Recommendation Friends Want to Watch Baseball

I live across from Coors Field, and I have some friends coming into town that want to watch the Guardians tonight. I threw out the names of a few of my favorite spots, but nothing stuck.

Does anyone know a Browns or Guardians bar in town? Or do you know of a place that will play the ALCS with the sound on?
