I'm also having a hard time right now but if anyone else would like to get stuff off their chest rn I can lend an ear and struggle together instead of alone 👐

Lost/Found Possible lost dog Sunnyside

Saw a golden retriever(?) that looked lost around 38th/Tejon at around 8:45 or so tonight; took off heading east on 37th when I drove by. Looked like a pet/had a collar on.

Wish I could be more helpful than this but wanted to put it out there in case someone’s missing their dog!

Event Free event? Interesting people? Things you've never seen before? Sometimes little food and drink? Art shows!

"Once Upon Another Time" opens this Friday Oct 23 at NEXT gallery at 6501 W. Colfax Ave. Ever been to Casa Bonita? This is in the same plaza. This show is one of several shows and galleries open in the same building that night so there's going to be a lot to see.

I know this artist and I love her work. You might too. Or you might find something in the 6 other art galleries in this building alone, or the 5 other nearby galleries that you might like too!

Never been to an art gallery before? Well, let's talk about going to local art galleries!

1.) Most art galleries in the Denver area are Co-ops or collectives meaning these are not commercial galleries whose primary purpose is to sell art for profit. These are local artists who make art because they love it. It's about community and expression more than money (though everyone appreciates a purchase and the galleries still have expenses and have to lease their spaces).

2.) These are not stuffy, snobby places and you are not out of place even if you don't know anything about art. Seriously, all anyone wants is for you to see their work. If all you have to say is "I like it." That's enough. If you have more to say, even if you can't exactly articulate it, folks are more than happy to talk.

3.) If you don't like something, just don't be rude. You don't have to like anything to go. Odds are good you'll see things you like and things that you don't connect with. No worries. Come back in a few weeks when there's a new show.

4.) Gallery openings are events! It's a little party and you are invited.

5.) These are great date nights :). You go, you look at the art and you talk about what you see, how you react to it, what it makes you think about or feel. Get a little culture and don't get stuck without having something to talk about.

6.) You can do #5 solo too!

7.) Openings really do often have wine, beer and little snacks. The artist pays for this stuff, so please do throw a few bucks in the donation jar.

8.) Original art made by hand by a real person is often not as expensive as you think. Yes, some art is very expensive and rightfully so, but most art is very affordable. Pieces will range in price from a few 10s or dollars to thousands. The point here is that you can decorate your walls with something truly unique, made by someone local, on a basic Target decoration budget.

9.) There are a lot of art galleries in the Denver area and several art districts. Many people know about Santa Fe and their big first Friday events, but there are galleries and districts in Lakewood and Englewood too and their first Fridays and second Saturdays are worth going to. Openings are just one type of event. These communities are often holding talks, demonstrations, parties, fairs and festivals.

Edit: 10.) It’s getting colder outside. Art galleries are inside.

Hopefully, we'll see you on Friday. If not, "Once Upon Another Time" will be open for three weeks. And if not that, well, I'm sure you'll find something you like here:

"Starting in January, Colorado drivers will be able to opt in to a $5 fee that goes toward the construction of wildlife passes across the state, similar to the $29 fee for the Keep Colorado Wild pass, which has generated $146 million since it launched in 2023.
“With your $5, it might not sound like a lot, but it adds up, and it’s something our state genuinely cares about,” O’Rourke said."

Lost/Found Found a set of keys on Highline Trail between Peoria and Potomac

Post image

Right about there.

Key chain had a keyfob with a flip key and an older car key assuming pre 2010 with no buttons on it. It also had a small carabiner with 3 Schlage chrome house keys.

I handed it to an Aurora Police officer and he said it would be at an Aurora police department under "Property". I asked him which precinct and he just said, ask for "property". I would assume precinct 2 or 3 as he was on 2nd street between Peoria and Potomac.

Long shot, but I had to try! The officer looked a little surprised when I handed the keys to him lol

Moving/Relocation Hanover Rino. Does anybody have any experience living here?

• Upvotes

Thinking about moving to the Hanover rino. We have taken a couple of tours, and it seems great, but I know how that goes.

Does anybody have any experience living there? Do you love it, do you hate it?

We’re moving from uptown in about a month, and as much as I loved the tours, I have read a couple of bad google reviews.

Anything helps!

Recommendation Cat People should not be overlooked for an amazing hangout spot

Went today for the first time and was shocked at how not busy it was. Cat People is on Leetsdale near Glendale and they have adoptable cats from Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue and every type of arts and craft you can think of, board games, and even an old Nintendo console to play. For $15 (or $60 for groups over 4), you can come and play as long as you want and they have coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. In comparison to other cat cafes this place is better as there is no time limit, lots of space, and the crafts and games are a blast! They also do special events like specific crafting classes.

Recommendation Best place to post last minute yard sale?

Hi all :)

I tried researching this before posting and checked the FAQ so I hope it’s ok I ask this here. I got a job out of the country and have some things I can no longer bring with me due to limited space/time. I’ve tried Facebook marketplace etc the last few days but no bites. Is there anywhere else I can post?

I have kitchen stuff, craft supplies, school supplies, decor and other miscellaneous things. These are all things I would have taken with me but sadly I couldn’t make the arrangements in time.

Anyone have any ideas? I don’t want to just throw it all away as it’s all in good condition. Or is anyone in search of some stuff?

Only thing is it’s currently all in a storage unit so as I can’t just have a ton of people come all at once as per the rental agreement.

I’m willing to let these things go for cheap (some things even free). As long as I can maybe get a few bucks to help with costs of moving I’m happy. Would love to see the things I loved and collected over the years go to someone who will love them too.

Thank you very much :)

EDIT: also have an IKEA hemnes tv stand and 2 white wooden barstools, projector screen, figure skates and a Wii with accessories.

Recommendation Was wondering if anyone is interested in a trade?

I was wondering if anyone is interested in trading services? Life is hard and I feel like it could be really fun to trade for things. For example I have a ton of canvases and can paint some cool anime art. So far I have painted three one piece related things (2 on canvas one on a skateboard). I also have painted spongebob art and can do other things. I can also send pictures of the art i have made previously. I went to school for baking and pastry arts so I am good at making fresh cakes / sweets. I can make press on nails in almost any design. I can do basic sewing and i have so many more arts and craft possibilities.

I am hopeful to find someone to tattoo the tower from tangled onto my leg. Or even a small tattoo of a date. I also would like to learn how to crochet and YouTube/ books aren't being very helpful.

If anyone has ideas or advice or wants to offer trades as well for art or other creative things please let me know!

This might be a long shot but has anyone been to Sandstone Ranch in Larkspur recently ?

We have family photos on Wednesday and my wife is curious as to the status of the leaves in the park.

We are hoping for fall colors.

Recommendation Seeking Cat Rehoming Resources for Smokey

Thumbnail
gallery
323 Upvotes

An elderly friend recently had a fall which resulted in significant injuries and the need to move to a nursing home for long term care. Unfortunately, she is not able to bring her beloved cat, Smokey. She’s concerned that if brought to an animal shelter, they will put him down, so we are trying to find Smokey a new, loving home through an organization that will help with the rehoming process. Below is what she shared with us about Smokey.

Smokey is an 11 year old gray tabby, born on 3.22.205 and adopted from DDFL on 5.22.2015 at 8 weeks old as a feral kitten. He’s a gray tabby who’s neutered and microchipped, but not up to date on his vaccines. Smokey is a sweetheart with family, but not so much with strangers. He will smell your feet, then go hide. He hisses but has NEVER been aggressive. He eats mostly dry Purina gentle food, wet food is hit and miss with ocean whitefish and tuna pate being his preferred type. He is good with his litter box and occasionally pukes a fur ball. Smokey will hop on my lap daily for snuggles. He sleeps wherever he chooses, usually on the end of the recliner or in the closet on a crate with padding. He likes to look out the window, too. Smokey has always been an indoor cat, never around other animals. He is my friend friend and would do best with one or two adults.

Help Where do dudes go BESIDES climbing gyms to make friends in Denver?

See above. I’ve been here 3 years. Most people seem to already be set in their friend groups or I get someone’s number to hang out but then I either don’t know what to do/invite them to or I invite them to something and they don’t seem interested.

It feels like I’m always the one putting in the effort to meet people. I think it partly may hurt that I often ask people to hang out the day of or the day before, and I know a lot of people already have plans by then.

Have any dudes here “mastered” the art of making friends?

Edit: Thanks so much everyone for the suggestions!! This has made me realize there’s tons of activities I haven’t tried. Definitely gonna follow some of these reccs.
