I'm devastated. I'm a pretty casual player but the dead space remake REALLY worked for me. I've held off all of 1 week before deciding I was ready for play DS2...

Recently I finished the remake a second time on NG+, and did my first run of Dead Space 2 on steam (GOD damn even in normal mode it was a pain in the ass...great game though).

I gotta say it's always a blast to replay the game that introduced me to its sci-fi horror universe.

But as soon as I was scrolling through my feeds and searches about the original, I was surprised to see that opinions are divided regarding the ambiance, the level design, animation and characters. I was also surprised to see that the first game don't have an alternate ending. And this is the reason why I am asking you this : What do you think of these 2 versions ? Are there any elements you would have liked to see included in this remake ? Or is the remake an improvement of the OG ?

Back before the release of the original Dead Space, I remember like it was yesterday watching E3 on G4 and they were previewing the game. My mind was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the graphics. I’d never seen anything like it before. I just had to get an Xbox 360 because of it.

Well fast forward to that Christmas and the game was mine. I beat it quick (pause) and loved every second of it.

But then I just never paid any attention to the sequel and just moved on. I was still gaming but it never entered my mind to get it. Now it’s 2026, and I’ve played the DS remake to death because it’s a fucking masterpiece and I went ahead this past week and finally got Dead Space 2 for my Series X and HOLY SHIT……

I’m about 6 chapters in and this may be one of the greatest games ever made. So far it is EASILY better than the first game and I’m MAD that I didn’t play this in 2011. The movement is so much better, the varied environments, the new enemies MAN, this game is insane so far. Perhaps it found me at the right time now, but a part of me wishes the teen version of me experienced this back in the prime 360 days.

I'm looking for friends on Steam or EA so that we can play together Dead Space 3. To be more specific, there are some achievements I want to obtain.

Are we able to enter Dr, Mercer’s office at all in the original deadspace? I’ve reached it and my greed has gotten the better of me, I WANNA KNOW WHAT’S BEHIND IT!! IT COULD BE POWER NODES!

Personally, I think the remake is the shit, except for this traversal stutter (which is shit). There's a mod on nexus that attempts to fix this, but their approach is flawed. They think it's about storage speed and assets being loaded too quickly. My current understanding (which is subject to change) is that the stutter is not caused by this, per se. Reducing the speed at which assets can be loaded (by installing the game onto slower media, for example) can alleviate the problem, but at the cost of slower loading and possible pop-in.

The mod I'm working on goes after the main cause, and doesn't require installing the game on different media. In the attached video, the first 3 passes are done with the fix disabled, and the next 3 with the fix enabled. Judge for yourself.

This mod dramatically reduces traversal stutter (in the video, the single worst frame was ~106 ms and it was reduced to ~13 ms with the fix enabled). It feels fucking awesome, like a different game altogether (assuming you had or noticed the stutter in the first place). There is still some residual hitching that I'm trying to get rid of, but this gets like 90% of the way there, maybe more. I'll release on nexus when I'm done working on it.

Which would you choose for next game. On one hand I’d love to see a continuation of the story in a 4th title. On the other hand Dead Space 2 is one of the best games ever made and having a refresh would be awesome.

The Titan Station is destroyed during the end of DS2, but i was wondering what happened to the Ishimura, is it destroyed alongside the station or is it left drifting among the debris of the Sprawl

I've been playing the new Hellraiser game and it got me thinking about how the necromorphs, especially the more complicated/recombined ones, don't use the technology surrounding them.

The only time we see any form of this is with the twitchers with the military stasis modules or the wasters using a weapon but you'd think that the brother moons would see the benefit of at least patching some steel covers on.

I understand from a game play perspective this might get very... tedious/boring or even downright unfun.

Any head canons or actual canon to explain this?

I'd oddly go with these two officers from Downfall, for anything else you can say about it they really did not mess around with the gore in that movie

Hey y’all, besides my gf, I don’t really have anyone else to share this with that would give a damn. However, after 68 hours, four playthrougs, and a lot of anxiety and tension later, I finally got the plat!

This is easily in my top 5 games of all time, and my first ever horror game.

Nothing new, just want to celebrate with the dead space homies.

To me it just so frustrating, for 2042 they did it after EA announced the DS2 remake isn’t happening and putting the remake devs to BF studios. Then for BF6 it like partly better but also half ass? Like why is the plasma cutter for a AR15 and not a pistol skin? Then the armors for Isaac and generic DS suit look slapped on to an existing character model.

At this point I would take a dead space reboot over another FOMO event that will last 2 weeks at best.

I did this back in 2023 and it worked fine, but now I only get four duplicates from one node before it stops. I’ve heard a few others mention the same thing.

I was told it was built into the game that way and couldn’t be patched. Anyone have an idea of why it doesn’t work now?
