I think it'd be cool for everyone to share a moment that you felt stupid for not noticing earlier while playing any Dead Space game.
I'll start:
I thought the three laser beams while aiming with the plasma cutter indicated that it shot three individual projectiles, when in reality it only shows the direction of the cut.
I wasn't paying attention to the story in ds1 og when I was playing for the first time, and I thought that Nicole and Daniels were the same person until the last chapter.

In my last post, I mentioned I'm working on a port of Dead Space for the Nintendo Switch. A few days later, I have a working build on PC (I'll compile it for Switch once the game itself is stable).
What already works: language selection, controls, and sound. The game reaches the start screen, but after pressing Start it crashes during the transition animation, before the menu loads. I'm currently fixing that — the crash is on a specific guest address, and I'm adding the missing functions one by one.
I can't attach a video right now because I'm writing from the basement and don't have access to my PC. Once I get into the menu (or at least past this crash), I'll make a new post with a video.
I believe the port is doable, and I'm aiming to release it to the public when it's done. I can't promise a date yet — I'm doing this alongside my studies, without a professional background. But I've already done a lot of work, and I'm not stopping.

Parrying in DS2 feels a bit easier, but you can no longer land multiple consecutive hits. In the original game, a Necromorph would trigger a claw-block animation, causing Isaac’s arm to bounce off; in DS2, however, Necromorphs now gain hyper-armor if you try to spam melee attacks. I really like this—it’s probably time to do a playthrough on Zealot mode.

Dead Space is a survival horror game that was inspired by Resident Evil 4, and it crafted its own identity. Focusing on limb dismemberment thanks to the 3rd person over the shoulder view, as well as minimizing UI in a smart way. This made Dead Space revolutionary, and some say it's better than the game that inspired it. So, I want to know how it holds up now especially after the remake came out 3 years later.
When I first played Dead Space 1 two months ago, I thought it be great but have some dated stuff in it. After finishing it I think DS1 is excellent and has aged like fine wine.

Hello everyone,
Like many others I love dead space and its world. Unfortunately it doesn't appear we are getting a new game in the near future and given that dead space 3 didn't quite live up to the hype, I've decided to do a full rewrite. This is a fairly detailed story treatment, so it's a long read.
I appreciate any feedback as this is the first pseudo script I've ever posted.
Thanks

To this day, I still fire up a campaign on the highest difficulty once a month—I truly believe it’s the best game in the series. They did such a perfect job of portraying Isaac as weak and sluggish, while pitting him against a genuinely formidable threat. Then, Dead Space 2 followed up by showing his evolution, featuring improved movement and a refined character design. My next goal is to beat the game without any upgrades or taking any damage—though, as you can see in the footage, I’m not exactly having much luck with that yet.

Right now, I'm actively developing a port of the original 2008 Dead Space for the Switch. I can't say for sure that the port will be released, but I'll try to make it high-quality. I hope this will help such a legendary franchise as Dead Space gain a larger audience. By the way, I played that game when I was 9 years old and have been familiar with the franchise for a long time, and I think EA ruined it.

as unlikely as it seems that EA is interested in singleplayer horror games in the future, if they sold the IP to another big company or developer, who would you want to take over?

Just had my first death very early on, even before I unlocked TK. I know about the quit and reload trick, but this one crept up on me from behind. So I just thought I'd ask here for which section you guys were having trouble so I could be extra careful when I get there. Based on my recent hard mode run, I struggled during the Hunter chase in ch6, and during a section in ch7 where we got to clear debris and restore gravity, then necromorphs starts coming from both direction

Fan theory here, but was the final Blood Moon boss fight in Dead Space 3 just a giant hallucination between Isaac and Carver?
Think about it. It's already been proven that the marker can be destroyed just by the users mind alone, both Isaac (in Dead Space 2) and Carver (in the side missions) did it. In the beginning of the Awakened DLC, both Carver and Isaac are confused how they both survived falling from the sky and in all reality, it does sound impossible that they both survived literally falling from the sky, hence their mutual confusion. But when Carver and Isaac escape the cave they were in, they both find the Blood Moon dead. So the only other reasonable explanation I can think of is that the entire "battle" between Isaac, Carver, and the Moon was really just a giant hallucination between both of them and that they really fought the moon in their minds. Not to mention the Awakened DLC that followed soon after was all about Isaac and Carver losing their minds and experiencing more vivid hallucinations. What do you all think?

It's truly a crime that Dead Space 2 Severed DLC was never released on PC...
