The first two things I think of when someone mentions Dark Souls 3 are the Undead Settlement, because of how much that place pissed me off, and the Nameless King.

About six years ago, I'd just finished DS2 and then DS1. I had a weak laptop and no chance of running DS3, so I went back to drawing nonstop and grinding away.

I kept seeing videos of the Nameless King. That shot (SPOILER AHEAD) where he kills his own mount was so badass and epic, and it reminded me of Ornstein.

A year later, I finally got myself a decent PC. DS3 was the first game I installed.

And then I finally got to face him head-on lol. I had no idea he was optional.

The mount fight was pretty confusing at first because of the camera, but I got used to it. Then came the usual die, repeat, die, repeat... and finally, the fight with the King himself. Fucking glorious.

The Nameless King will always be one of my all-time favorite bosses.

My name is Ayman, this is my oil painting of him. I hope you guys like it, and thanks for taking the time to stop by and check out my art!

P.S. I've also got prints available if you'd like to have this on your wall. There's a link on my profile.

They were awful in regular gameplay, but with the Ng+2 and 3 they became unbearable.

Pretty immersive. I like that the game doesn't look washed out anymore and has some ambient occlusion. Might be a bit too glowy and colorful though. Thoughts?

I'm using "Giorma's Ultra Realistic Reshade v2" for this with my own tweaks to the effects.

The game is better than expected in first person 😂

If you were not a playable character, and instead were a hollow, burnt, or otherwise mindless knight, nameless, and forgotten through time, which would you have been? Who, a Lord of Cinder or otherwise, would you have been loyal to?

For some info on each knight's loyalties:

Lothric Knights: The Twin Princes, Lorian and Lothric.

Black Knights: Gwyn, the First Lord.

Boreal Outrider Knights: Pontiff Sulyvahn.

Pontiff Knights: Pontiff Sulyvahn.

Silver Knights: Gwyn, Gwyndolin and Yorshka.

Winged Knights: Gertrude, the Heavenly Daughter.

Cathedral Knights: Aldrich, Saint of the Deep.

Millwood Knights: Ethereal Oak/Painted World of Ariandel .

Ringed Knights: Humanity/Gwyn, the First Lord.

Corvian Knights: Sister Friede.

Harald Knights: The Dark Soul.

Question Before I respec, is there any build that allows me to use as most fun stuffs as possible?

• Upvotes

My first run which cleared entire game, optional bosses and dlc was strength build using heavy claymore and I got to level 125 with 61 strength. On new game plus I plan to do a respec and will aim for something that allows me to use all locked things I haven't been able to enjoy, like slave knight Gael crossbow, sunlight spear... Maybe they're not effective but I just try to understand the game, it has so many weapons and I don't want to miss out any mechanics.

Also at SL1, NG+7

Very difficult boss, but definitely tested the advanced mechanics I learned on the other bosses. This is how you make a boss. Easy top 3 boss

Question Struggling with Aldrich, is my build good?

Here's the build I'm using for Aldrich, are there any problems with it or do I just need to keep trying?

Discussion I beat Dark Souls 3 (+ both DLCs) for the first time and here's my thoughts.

I've gotten all the achievements on Dark Souls 1, Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Sekiro, and I plan on doing the same with Demon's Souls and DS3. I have always heard one of two opinions on Dark Souls 3: 1) "peak, best souls" and 2) "it's highly overrated."

My personal assessment in a short sentence is: it's perfectly rated. It's very good and I think most who've played to completion would agree.

Many say the combat feels weightless. I disagree. I think it feels like Dark Souls 1 without a lot of the jank. Many say there's nothing special about the game outside of the bosses (or that it's a "boss rush") and I just disagree, highly. I absolutely love the vibe of the world, and it has some of the most beautiful areas in all of soulsborne. I've seen some say it's "too linear" without having that same complaint for Bloodborne or Sekiro which are both FAR more linear. I've seen some call it "Roll -> R1: The Game" and it's no more than that DS1 or Elden Ring?

However, for me it has the most areas I dislike. Irithyll Dungeon, Farron Keep, Dreg Heap, and pretty much the entire Ariandel DLC (except for Friede) are all just not fun. I also don't really like that there's basically two non-optional gimmick bosses (Wolnir & Yhorm). Edit: I genuinely forgot about Deacons 💀 make that three non-optional gimmick bosses lol.

Overall, I loved the game and will mostly likely replay it occasionally. And it's also probably the easiest souls game besides Demon's Souls and maybe DS1. Also Midir and Gael are a ton of fun, easily two of my favorite bosses in soulsborne.

Sorry if this kind of post is something that happens often, I'm just late to the party and wanted to express my experience. Great game! Love the lore.

Question Am I ruining my first play through?

is my first and I just beat twin princes. For most of the game I’ve been using my +10 heavy winged knight twin axes and I feel like I am killing them too fast and I feels like the game is easier than intended. Is it bc of my weapon, weapon level or should I switch Weapon? Also I’m I just overthinking things?

Advice Almost done with covenant farms and shackles are killing me

I have a discovery of 480~ after popping rusted coin(the 50+ not 100+). I’m going for the 100% and can’t afford game pass so I’m doing offline farms. When I started this I was level 130-140~ on NG+ and now I’m still on ng+(beaten my second run just waiting) but am now level 204. I have been farming this vertebra shackle for like 4 hours and have gotten 4.

Running GCSR+3, symbol of avarice, crystal sage rapier, and the coin. I have put like 65~ points into luck. Is it possible to do better? I just want to rebirth and put my 60ish point of luck into other things.

Who ever said proof of concord kepts where the hardest is actually insane.

Discussion Thank You Dark Souls III

Twenty four days ago, I had begun my Dark Souls 3 journey for the first time. I had come directly from a Dark Souls 2 Strength adventure!
A week into the game I had my first massive crash out (pretty early Cursed Rotten Greatwood) about how the game looked, how the gank squads were everywhere and everything was just a big fucking swamp, (Mizayaki has a hard on for swamps got a lot of people triggered) and a lot of you told me to not give up. Wait. Persevere.
And I was sure I was going to delete the game at that point. But I listened to you guys.
And I don’t know when or how it happened but I am assuming it was around the abyss watchers when I discovered the bridge with the stray demon, like a huge place of solace, and perhaps that is when I got sucked into the game in a way I can’t explain.
My humble claymore met with the Carthus flame arc and together we conquered Irithyll and the Profaned Capital only to die to the dancer for a whole week straight.
In this game, I love how your build is never definitive and your strategy and more importantly the rhythm is King.
Once I realised that, from there on things were a pretty smooth sailing, all the way to the Ringed City (My second crash out)
Where I was sure Midir will make me delete the game till somebody helped me with the boss.
Something that was still very new to me, as this was also my first fully online experience in the Dark Souls franchise, and to find a summon sign where you can get trolled or helped, killed or not killed. To meet players across the world who can invade or help. It completely overhauled the vibe of the whole experience.
Finally, defeating Midir somehow overshadowed my ransacking Soul of Cinder when I came in for my second attempt and to top it all off, I think it only made sense to fight Slave Knight Gael with the Soul of cinder armour on.

I decided to end the age of fire because I accidentally killed Yoel because he asked me to and didn’t get the most cannon ending. But I am happy that I didn’t stop or give up and not let the experience from the other two games affect me to the point, where I would have quit before experiencing it all.
And thank you for this amazing community!

50 Hours Later and at SL 107
Thank you Dark souls 3! And thank you Dark souls for perhaps being one of the most compete trilogies I have ever played!
Not sure if I would still say it was the best of the three!
I am not sure i will begin with a new journey.
I want to soak this one in, even though I feel more hollow now that it has ended! Maybe that was the whole point of the game!

Praise the Sun!

Question Are my stats and weapons any good for the abyss watcher boss fight?

I’m currently trying to beat the Abyss Watcher in DS3 and I keep failing. I’m using the +4 Flamberge greatsword and a +2 Dragon Crest Shield. I have 3 out of 4 lothric armor pieces. I’m using the Life, Chloranthy, Lloyd’s Sword, and Pontiff’s eye Rings. I keep failing to kill Abyss Watcher in the second form. I get through the first form easily but I keep failing at the second form.
