Discussion Why are they afraid of me ?

If I remember correctly I don’t think I’ve seen this reaction at any point before the DLC. I’ve never experienced such an encounter in any game I played except Ghost of Tsushima but I mean your enemies watch you decapitate someone in-front of their eyes no wonder they cower in fear.

Genuinely though is there any lore connection to why they react like that during the DLC, I get that the hunter is meant to be feared canonically and is an absolute menace. What’s funny is they had every right to be afraid I felt no remorse whatsoever, dare I say I felt satisfaction. I was even thinking of more creative ways to kill them and assure them their instincts to fear me were in the right place …… IM NOT A PSYCHOPATH… I have felt empathy towards characters in other games before, its just idk this game really digs into you with the satisfaction of violence it made me truly embody the sadistic spirit of the hunter, I even stopped using weapons based on how strong they are and just go for the most violent weapons out their. My favorite pick is the beautiful Whirligig Saw.

So does anyone have an explanation for this encounter? Im genuinely curious about the lore behind this.

Discussion Damm... These guys are very horifying. I thought they just had a tentacle beard but no those are the tentacles of the Parasite inside their heads, wich btw looks very simular to what our character can turn into in one of the endings.

Screenshot Look, I’m going to level with you all. I am scared. Bloodborne scares me. The beasts scare me. And that man in the chair really scares me

Never been much of a reader, but BB has left with the thirst for more, so I need gain more insight. Really excited to read Shadow of Innsmouth as well, as I really enjoyed the Fishing Hamlet content, although really it applies to the dlc and whole game in general

Fluff First playthrough at 41. I went out for blood vials and came back with fewer blood vials

I record my sessions so I have receipts.

30:00 “I need to get more blood vials”

32:47 “I’m gonna have to go get some blood vials”

34:52 “oh shit, I meant to go get blood vials, I forgot”

36:54 “why am I fighting her? I knew I was going to go get blood vials”

42:40 “I came here to get blood vials and now I’m spending them all just to try to beat this guy”

44:46 Central Yharnam farming run. Got 12. Took two minutes.

Also, in real life, I’ve been on my way out to meet people for about a year.

Discussion Why am I so afraid of Bloodborne?

Yes, I know it is a horror game, but that isn’t what I’m talking about. Like I can’t bring myself to make it to Hemwick Charnel Lane after Amelia and if I got this far what is stopping me from progressing? I think it might be Rom because I’m a big Arachnophobe but spider enemies haven’t stopped me before because I beat Black Myth Wukong and several spider bosses are required. I don’t know what’s up and I don’t know if this is the place to ask or not

Discussion I MISS YOU BLOODBORNE UGH I LOVE YOU!!!

Oh my goodness, im randomly reminiscing on my bloodborne phase and even NOW I can say it’s still my number 1 favorite video game of all time!

It was my intro to the soulsborne series and I had a damn fun time with it. I literally remember only playing it because I was too broke for Elden ring at the time! It is such an amazing game. Combat, vibes and atmosphere, the sudden shift from beast and wolves to alien like entities. Oh my GOODNESS it’s so good.

I remember getting the platinum trophy and was so proud of being apart of the 6.2 something percentage of players that got it(number might be higher now idk)

But yeah, I haven’t played or even thought about this game in literal years, yet the game still puts a giant smile on my face! I LOVE YOU BLOODBORNE!

First playthrough of any souls game. By far the most trouble I've had with a boss to this point. Probably took me 20ish attempts with no summons and no blood potion cheese, but we did it! On to the next one now!

Discussion Dark Beast Paarl is kinda OP

Despite defeating Darkbeast Paarl on my first attempt, I honestly don't think I could do it again if I replayed the game.

The fight was going pretty well at first. I was getting underneath him and landing charged, sweeping attacks with the hunter axe. But then came the final phase. I just couldn't get close to him anymore because his electricity kept frying me whenever I tried to get around him or get underneath him. I had to use almost all my Blood Vials just to stay in the fight.

Eventually, I caught a lucky break when he got near a wall and managed to land a few final blows to finish him off.

Honestly, I think his final phase is a bit overpowered. The constant electricity makes it so difficult to get close to him and it felt like I barely had any openings to attack. He's definitely the toughest boss I've faced so far.

Help How do I play this game better so I can enjoy it?

I’ve played all the Dark Souls games, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, and I enjoyed all of them except for DS1 (the combat was too slow and all the boss fights were gimmicks). There was a learning curve for each of those games, but eventually I got good at them and the combat. If there was a boss I got stuck one, I could learn the moves and get a little bit better.

With Bloodborne, I still haven’t gotten good. I’ve made it to Rom, and I am having difficulty beating it. I’m level 55 with a +7 (or +8, can’t remember) weapon, yet I’m struggling with it. For every single boss I’ve either beaten them without really trying or I’ve struggled immensely. I’ve not felt satisfied with killing any of the bosses or getting through the areas because it’s just so hard and monotonous.

I don’t get how parrying works or how it’s supposed to be useful. I barely do damage with the stun attacks. Blood vials are limited, so I end up running past enemies all the time and not feeling I can explore because they’re limited and I need them for bosses (and I don’t like farming for them). The regen system doesn’t really work because anytime I get hit I get stunned and I can’t hit back. Even if I do manage to hit back, my health increases only a tiny amount.

I’ve watched videos, yet it seems like the person in the video is playing a completely different game than I am. They don’t get stunned, enemies aren’t that aggressive, and they don’t lose half their health when they get hit.

Essentially, I feel like there are some fundamental things that I don’t understand about the combat, and the game doesn’t explain it at all. What are some fundamental combat tips, info and weapon and armor choice, and some videos I can watch to help me understand the combat so I can actually enjoy this game I’ve yet to really enjoy? I’ve heard that I can combo with weapons, but I’ve yet to see it. Also, I read on stuff like visceral attacks and beasthood, but the game doesn’t explain it and I don’t understand what I’m reading about it.

Edit: Apparently there are gems I can use to upgrade my weapons and runes to give my character certain stats

Fluff Luck?

Playing on PS5 with online sub. My game saves were local (these were my main games) and I had a new game saved on the cloud (it was just before papa g)

Anyway, system crash and aside from my plat trophy the only save I have access to is the cloud save.

The annoying thing was that I was doing an all weapon run, but the save had threaded cane which was the next weapon.

Discussion I'm finishing the game for the first time and....

The scene is quite unsettling, even intimidating.I am fighting against Gherman and taking out him and the 3 shadows, I think the difficulty is well balanced At times, it's even very easy For example, with Mergo's wet nurse, whom I defeated on the first try and thought a second health bar would appear. So i decided to play the DLC. How difficult is it compared to the base game?
