Instructors Instructors: how do you feel about modifications that you did not queue?

I’m not referring to modifications that make movements easier or help accommodate pain (like dropping the straps during shoulder work or crossing your ankles to help with back pain). I mean incorporating some 1.5-level variations into a Flow 1 class to make the exercises more challenging, like rolling up into a chest curl, using heavier springs for feet in straps, adding double leg lifts during hundreds, or lifting your arms during bridging, etc.

I personally don’t do these things unless my instructor cues them, but I’m curious whether instructors find it frustrating when clients make these kinds of modifications on their own without being prompted or if you totally don’t care. Just curious :)

Advice/Questions Club Pilates somehow both too easy and too hard?

I’ve completed around 40 1.0 classes in the span of 5 months and I’m starting to feel it’s too inconsistent. While I do see some small improvements in my strength, specifically my core, I don’t feel like I’m getting a consistent workout otherwise.

Some of the upper body moves I can still barely do on the lightest spring, while others (eg biceps) are so easy I feel like I’m hardly doing anything. Am I supposed to be changing the springs mid set back and forth?

I tried a 1.5 and the moves that included tabletop were too difficult and my form was compromised, yet some of the other moves felt like a better workout.

I have been told by multiple instructors that my form is excellent, so I know that isn’t playing a role in it.
