nothing is ever as it appears..
would anyone like to know the story behind this one? (king and queen piece got confused in the beginning on both sides, but the moves were still technically legal albeit visually confusing(i havent played chess in a long time)) the king pieces were then then left, the queens are gone in the game..
have a look at the bishop... my opponents side.
have a look at the castling that has happened and my rook approaching. notice anything?
well the game was funny because in the end her bishop checkmated me, i didnt notice that she poked holes in my pawn line of defense. interesting, she pointed out to me that while during the progression of the game i moved my rook right infront of the horse piece to establish initiate and sustain a line of offense..
i didnt consider and didnt count properly but it turned out to be impossible because
A) the bishop would have tanked my last attempt at an offense
B) because of the roschade the king was now behind a second rook that mine would need to pierce through..
not only that here comes the actual kicker...
right at the beginning she kamikazed into my queen which was protected by another piece if it gets taken by her queen, thus triggering the bilateral queen sacrifice.
that one slightly upset me as i like playing with my queen but i said "very well.... but i am wondering why would someone do that"
apparently the mutually assured destruction warning was not enough of a deterrent, i didnt prepare for this.
i learned my lesson from this, to learn how to use the next best piece or combination of pieces once my queen gets taken, because so can the opponent.
this was meant as an introductory game to teach a friend for her to participate and observe..
right after i got home i called her coworker and said "fascinating (Beautiful) placement of the bishop, i didnt account for that one" (leading to my checkmate)
the bishop dealt the final blow
or in viennese austrian if you like the vibe (my dialekt)"der läufer war schön platziert, damit hab ich nicht gerechnet"
fascinating game.
edit: the game was quite convoluted.. i noticed that after from my perspective i have done well to dominate the flank the right from her side, in her territory, boy was i wrong, i was anything but dominating the flank, she initiated her first offense somewhere, i couldnt retaliate and tactically despaired, i attempted an adjustment, despaired further and attempted to take her rook to distract her two horses approaching my king from arresting my king, i couldnt even do that, had i moved my rook to take her rook, the bishop would have checkmated me instantly. she pointed it out, i didnt notice, quite a convoluted game, i liked the constellations though.
it was a lack of perception, that lead to my faulty placement, i didnt keep the bishop in mind, and its range of moves, got sniped at long range, and also i didnt account for what do i do when the MAD being enforced by a deadmansswitch placement fails. i didnt have a contingency. yikes! this is how you lose a game of chess in the most spectacular manner.
