I’ve been playing on chess.com for a couple of years now across many different Elos so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from other players. Some players are very aggressive while others are very tentative, and most land somewhere in between. As of late I’ve noticed a pattern where every single one of my opponents is overly timid and plays very passively. At first I thought it was just a coincidence but it’s been a couple of days now and everyone still plays like their life depends on it or something. It’s like they’re so hard not to make a wrong move to the point where they become paralyzed. It’s really beginning to take the fun out of playing chess. Am I the only one who has noticed this? Or am I just crazy?

Seriously, why on earth does chess.com not deduct points when someone doesn't play the first move when they are black?!?!?

I've never had another player abort on me on the first move if they are white. Only black. It's all people doing it to game the system.

Once players are matched and the game starts, that should be it. The winner gets the points. Started a game by accident or you lose your connection, tough luck (just like if you lose Internet mid game)

So I've always been apsolute dogshit at chess (top rating 800), and haven't played in over a year. Dropped to about 550 which is fair, I really do suck at the moment

But when I play someone 550 as well and they trade like all of their pieces in the beggining, I just lose the will to play. Is it just me or? I dunno, I have the feeling that playing with as many pieces as possible this low rated would be better. I mean, I doubt I'd ever be able to mate someone with just a rook and a king, so it kinda pisses me off when it happens, I just get the feeling I won't learn shit like that. Is it just my 550 brain or?

I played a cheater moments ago, lost, and began investigation on them. I wasn't 100% sure if they were a strong player with a new account... In my game, they were given a rating of 2000. But the games kept getting more and more ridiculous i.e. 2700+ game rating... I went back to their first game... And bro SUCKED.... The game was so bad it was hilarious 😂. I reported them and they were banned instantly. My rating was refunded as well.

Why do people always spam emotes when you are losing, make a blunder or misclick like this situation? I've never understood these type of people and what is going on through their heads. What are your thoughts?

At some point something has to be done about rating deflation. Skill wise, I am probably around 800, but my rating is only around 300-400.

I can push the rook and take the pawn, right?

Just gonna check your ass 20 times with my queen until you eventually blunder or draw because Im too much of a bitch to fight back from a loosing position because you outplayed me in the midgame and god forbid I ever create an endgame strategy other than chasing your king across the board and not letting you play a single move that would push the game forward

I mainly play rapid but lately my progress started slowing and I don’t feel like playing rapid anymore. I do play some unrated blitz and bullet games and they allow me to try different things like new openings and I get to practice my time management in those games. So should I take a break from rapid for now and in the meantime play blitz and bullet?

I used a Proton Mail alias for the email to register with this account. At the time, I didn't notice the email to get sent so I deleted it by mistake as I was clearing out all my emails.

Since I wanted to free up my aliases on Proton Mail, I deleted the email address (in image 2) so I used a new alias to try and change my emails, but nothing was sent.

So I've contacted the support team. The bot had to pass it on to a human who tried resending the email to that dead address, but I've sent him my new address, which was censored. He didn't see it yet.

As of posting this, my account hasn't been activated yet so I'm just waiting for a response.

P.S. I mostly use the Android app so I used desktop mode in Brave to see the email stuff.

Why do OBVIOUS stockfish cheaters get to stay on the site?

I have played approx 890 games on chess.com to achieve this rating and have also secured high top 10 rankings in national non fide rated tournaments.

I have also beaten opponents with a fide rating all the way from 1430 to 1831 (very special game for me) how much could my fide rating open exactly?

In my opinion I could open a 1650 rating but I am not sure how to gauge my approx rating from chess.com and would like some guidance on the conversion

I've started playing chess literally 170 days ago (thanks chess.com). I've reached 1420 elo in rapid in this period of time by learning basic principles and mostly watching streamers doing pedagogical streams (and of course doing some problems).

Yet, when I play I often feel like the only thing I am doing is trying to get more quality than my oponent or trying to checkmate but with no strategic thinking or using that much of tactical ideas.

I play the (w) london system and the (b) Scandinavian or sometimes the Caro Kann.

The openings seem correctly handled but like I said I kinda struggle during the middle game (unless a very clear pattern from my openent I can counter).

I wanted to know how did you guys improve your middle game ? any books recommandation ? Any questions you asked yourself every time ?

I'm from Iran, and although it's possible for me to play in chess dot com, I have had a profile since 2021 (@pheroMona13) there's no international payment option available in my country, and paying through illegal third parties with USD is kinda impossible cause of exchange difference, unfortunately. my question is that is there a way/competition/program to get a subscription or a trial version for free? I really like to test some locked features in chess dot com.
