This is in no way a complaint or anything but more of an observation. I went to the Chadstone store today and noticed everyone working there either gave off goth vibes or had a goth aspect about them. They were also playing heavy goth inspired music. I don't generally visit this store much, but I'm interested to get other opinions on the store workers there?

The buttons on the right controller have this thing where they need to be pressed down with more pressure to have an impact and I was wondering if i could still trade it in or would that mean your unable to trade it in?

Hi guys. Got a question, hopefully for a current or former employee.
I took a DVD (Gorillaz Phase 2) in to sell, along with a couple of blu-rays.
Assistant told me "we're not accepting that one anymore unfortunately, Phase 1 yes, but not 2".
When i got home I checked the app & found they were still selling it, and still offering to buy it. I can sell it to them through Drop And Go, which I've never used before but I'm planning to do.
Thing is, I'll be dropping it at the same store that knocked it back initially.
Does anyone have experience of something similar?
Can the store refuse to take it, even if it's already been 'agreed' in the app?
I'd really appreciate some input on this, particularly from those with experience, rather than pure conjecture.
Thank you š
Just bought the Steam Frame from cex. Just wondering how accessories work? Since to buy accessories for the device it needs an account which has ordered the device before (itās given on a reservation system) but since I now have the device Im still unable to order the offical accessories.
Anything staff or store could possibly do?
https://store.steampowered.com/hardware/steamframe
itās also been marked up a ton compared to the market value lol

Iāve got 6 old SSDs Iām thinking of selling, all worth a bit but they are the same brand just different sizes.
I assume these will get flagged as bulk selling? Whatās the best approach so I donāt get flagged

I bought a switch about 6 weeks ago and it's got the phantom touch issue but its very intermittent. When it plays up, its unplayable. I took videos of the fault taking place but it didn't show up during their testing. They have offered to keep it longer and test again, but I'm worried i'll go back in tomorrow and it will just be the same.
Since its a hand held device, would it be worth essentially hanging around and playing a game on it myself until the fault starts and then show them live? Would the count as part of their verification of the fault?
Finger crossed, I just go back tomorrow and they confirm the fault but I'm not getting my hopes up!

I've had my eye on a Samsung S24 Ultra for a little while now, been looking to Upgrade from a S23 FE, that is gradually getting slower these days.
I was saving up vouchers from Cex trade-in's and had planned to buy a 24 ultra soon. However I noticed they increased the price of alot of there phone on the run up till XMAS. The phone I was looking at is now 70 euro more in the space of 3 weeksš¤£.
Is it worth waiting till after Xmas now to buy it?
Or wait till the new samsung flagship is announced and maybe get an s25 ultra instead?

I want to sell my year old, m4 MacBook Air, I have its box, paperwork and MagSafe cable but I lost the original power adapter it came with a while ago and have since been using a 3rd party Anker adapter. Would CeX still take it? And if not is there any viable workaround that doesnāt include me having to spend 50 or 60 pounds on a new apple adapter?

They are selling RTX 5090s with no warranty seal and the internals stripped out. I ordered three over the past two weeks, and all were non-functional.
So it seems you can order a non-functional RTX 5090 for 200 quid on eBay (with no memory or GPU core), walk into any CeX shop, and trade it for 3 grand cash? Because clearly someone is doing this, and now I'm falling victim to CeX incompetency.
It's shocking that for a 3 grand item, they're not even testing. Completely absurd.

3 orders in 1 month, I'm definitely gullible. First 2 orders? Smart watches that burned your hand off if they were turned on for 5 minutes. Refunded.
So, I thought I'd order online this time. I live in the north of Scotland, I seen 4 shops within 50 miles with a lovely pair of Skullcandy headsets. £80, bought. What arrived were a pair of cheap Skullcandys, sent from bludy Portsmouth!
Absolutely fuming, like who does the quality control and how on Earth are they still in business? I'm going to hop into a store tomorrow, hopefully they can help me get a refund or new one sent out, I'm sooo scared they are going to give me grief but I'm disabled and I cannot get shafted with this amount of money. Obviously the first 2 were easy replacements, but does anyone have experience with the wrong items being sent?

Just curious as I've applied about 5 times to stores in my area and been rejected like clockwork each time. This last time was in just a couple of days. I was wondering, for people that do work in CeX, what kind of past experience/ qualifications you have?
I haven't even been invited to interview and yet have a passion for technology and games, and literally gave myself full availability. Also have a retail background. It's not that hard to actually get someone in for a chat, but it seems like a lot of places CVs just get tossed out without much thought.

I recently bought an M1 MacBook Air from CeX for £490, and I'm wondering whether I got a good deal or overpaid. It has visible scratches, scuffs, and some dents, and the battery health is 86% (360 cycle count).
Spec:
I've bought used HP laptops and an iPhone before, but I'm disappointed with the overall condition of this laptop.
For those familiar with the UK used MacBook market, was £490 a fair price for this spec and condition, or would you return it and look for a better deal?

I read previously issues with S26 trade-ins
Have these issues been resolved with the steps put in place? Have further policy been put in place to help the situation?
Having previously used Cex for my new mobile devices with no prior problems, I was beginning to think it was time to start thinking on my next upgrade, but reading of the issues did make me hesitate a bit.

Here's an interesting one for you all. I bought a second hand ps4 from Cex for my little brother last year. When bought, it clearly had some scuffs on it, and also was sold to me with no warranty seal on the rear of the console. I didn't think much of it at the time, assumed it was repaired at one point or anotherš¤·āāļø. But it very Cleary worked and had no issues with it.
Fast forward to two weeks ago, my brother asked me to sell it back to Cex so he can put the money towards a newer console.
I rocked into CEX, handed the PlayStation and was instantly refused a sale!
They apparently won't take any consoles without there warranty sticker still on it, As there is a risk, someone has modded it.
I do understand that, but i spent 20 minutes arguing that, " your shop sold this exact console to me a year ago with no stickerš¤£.
I did ask, "could they no still test it" and they straight up refused!
Has anyone else had similar issues? Or is there a way I could possibly work around this?

I have bought GTX3070 from CeX. This was my first interaction with the company.
Stuck it into my PC, reinstalled windows, drivers, the usual stuff. This PC is for my simrig, and its gonna run iRacing exclusively. Loaded into a test drive, and within 1 minute the GPU shuts off. Weird, restarted the PC tried again, same thing. 3rd time, I started up HW monitor to see what's going on. Hotspot at 107°C. Which is ridiculous for iRacing.
Now, I know how to mend this. Already ordered thermal pads and PTM7950. After this, its Afterburner to see what's going on. If that doesn't fix it, Ill return it.
But it got me thinking. Your average shopper will not know how to fix this. All they will know is that they got a faulty graphics card. I'm assuming CeX sticks these into a motherboard to see if they are working. Is it that much trouble to run a stress test? It takes less than 5 min and the issue would have been spotted immediately.
Update: I did end up replacing the paste for phase shifting material (PTM7950) and replaced all the heat pads. Some of them were cooked solid. Found some hair inside the radiators, which I assume were from a dog/cat. Plugged it back in and drove around in iRacing for about an hour. Hotspot max temp recorded: 86.4°C.

My local CEX just tried to reject a working PAL N64 because they plugged it into a 60Hz monitor, and said the (official PAL Nintendo) cable wasnāt sending colour information š
In the past they also rejected a PS Vita for āyellowed screenā because the standard UV filter polarised the store lights to a yellow tint.
Customers⦠What are your CeX trade in face palm tales?

Aussie here - I ordered drakengard 1 for $35, and have been sent drakengard 2. Is it just a case of a straightforward return to any store? Or do I need to send it back to the original supplying store?

Ive got a xbox one 1tb, and i originally traded in the controller to get a elite series 2 controller,
The E series 2 controller is the only controller for the xbox that i own
If I trade in the xbox and the controller, will i get stuffed on it being a xbox without accessories or will I get stuffed it being a xbox with a elite controller and not get the value of the elite controller ?
Edit: the whole xbox goes as discounted and pays out 40 bucks for the xbox and the controller
I ended up selling the elite s2 to cex for 71 and sold the xbox on facebook for 60
