Update The update I wasn’t hoping to have to post 🌈

Post image
359 Upvotes

I posted the other day about my cat not eating and hiding a lot. He got a little better on the meds, but then stopped eating completely. I took him back in today and they found some fluid and blood in his abdomen. The vet figures it may be cancer or some type of foreign body. Either way, she saw some things through the ultrasound that she didn’t like and didn’t give him a good prognosis. Instead of putting him through exploratory surgery, I made the decision to put him to rest today.

Thank you all for the help and advice. I was luckily able to give him his medications, one including gabapentin so hopefully he wasn’t in too much pain these final days💕

Kitten Help 2 week old kitten won’t poop

Backstory: My neighbor found this baby abandoned and covered in flies and maggots. She cleaned him off and bought formula to feed him but couldn’t keep him due to her parents. I told her I’d take him in the mean time and see if I could find a shelter that’d take him. No one will take him since he needs to be fed every 2-3 hours so I basically have to wait until he doesn’t need to be bottle fed to take him to the shelter. The only one that would take him said if I bring him early morning they’ll contact fosters to see if anyone wants to take him but, if they don’t find someone by the time they close, they’ll have to euthanize him so I said hell no and have been taking care of him myself.

Main issue: I’ve had him for about 6 days and the first 3 days he peed and pooped perfectly fine after stimulation. But day 4 he didn’t poop and only peed. I waited for day 5 and still nothing so I took him to a 24 hour vet and the consultation fee was already $125 that I did not have. Thank god for my friend because he paid for it. The vet was too scared to give him an enema bc of how small he is so they kept stimulating him for some time and eventually he pooped and a lot came out. They told me to massage his stomach before and after feeding him to try to help him poop so I made sure to do that and still, NO POOP! I’ve diluted his formula to see if maybe it was too thick, tried the triangle method, a damp, warm cloth, baby wipes, cotton ball etc. I don’t think I can financially afford another vet visit so if anyone has any methods that worked for them or can give me tips on how to help him poop, I would be so grateful.

UPDATE!!: Not sure how to make an updated post so I just edited here but…HE POOPED! I know it’s only been 3 hours since I made this but I tried to find goats milk and couldn’t find any in-store so I ordered it online but I bought some premixed KMR replacer while I waited for the goats milk to come tomorrow( I was using KMR powder originally) and he literally pooped all over the pee pad without me stimulating him. I still stimulated him after and he pooped a little bit more. I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy to see feces in my life lol. thank you to all the comments for being so kind and helpful. I will definitely be throwing out that powder!

Breathing Issues Is this a normal sound?

Kitten is 3 1/5 months old, was neutered around 2 1/5 weeks ago, and all of a sudden started making these noises. He’s not throwing up or anything, almost seems like he can’t breathe? He’s had his first round of vaccinations but not the leukemia one, he was tested for it before being neutered though and he was negative. Still worried though, should I go to vet. Is this a normal noise?

Behavioral Issue Abused cat getting more hard to handle over the time

Hey everyone! Im 22 and from Pakistan. My mom’s cat is around 7 years old. She was a scared abandoned Persian kitten with eye infection. We got her and got her treated she became a good kitten we got another kitten. With lots of time and effort she accepted him. Then she was on heat at that time we didn’t know anything about spaying and neutering so upon someone’s suggestion we sent her to a breeding place she seemed like a nice lady, one of the biggest mistakes on our end. Lily our cat was sent back to us in 2 days after being abused. We decided never to send Lily again the we made skip 1-2 heats the an angel came and we got her spayed at the age of 1 year

With every trouble happened to Lily she became more angry. We started doing things her way. Never forced pets on her. Gave her food wherever she wanted. But vet visits were becoming more difficult and still are. Shaving sessions are hard
And with time dealing with her is getting very hard
She is safe right now totally safe but she’s cranky she rarely comes to us for petting sessions. She hisses and she runs away. She does come to ask for food will rub herself around the legs.

Her teeth are decaying but she’s eating well. She has an active skin infection but we are getting everything treated.

I get the health concerns but why is she getting more cranky and distant over the time. Do cats get like this when they’re old?

Update I think she's burned her last bridge with my husbad and I don't know what to do anymore

Post image
3.4k Upvotes

Edit 1: wow guys I appreciate all the feedback I really do. There are so many of your suggestions I'll put up here where im at with her. Ive been working on her bathroom problem for around 6 months. She really did have a uti that the vet took care of. I was hoping that she would go right back to using the litter box but she just didn't. I have changed litter boxes and types of litter and placement and so many things. I have 2 boxes one upstairs and one downstairs. There really isn't anywhere for another one to go. The house just isn't that big. Morrows a big girl and I have big litter boxes for her. They are uncovered. I am trying pellets right now. It definitely keeps the litter granuals off the ground. I have taken her to the vet 3 times I the last few months. Im just seeing if anything helps at this point. She was on gabepenton for lingering pain and that seemed to help. Then she was still having problems so we switched to another med. Peracentol I think. I can see the mental changes happening for her but still the potty problems persist. I havr tried 3 versions of diapers for her but she's got a big pooch and she's not small. She just steps out of them. I tried a "inescapable " harness diaper and it just chokes her neck. And she escapes again. My husband is doing his best. We both are. This has been such a long drawn out problem. It's OK for him to reach the bottom of his patience barrel sometimes. I love morrow so much that it is just terrifying when I can't figure out how to silve the problem. Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. I am reading them all and trying to calm down about her

Edit 2: Guys im overwhelmed with all your comments and suggestions. It was way more than I was ever expecting. Im gonna go through the best I can and implement some of them.

Morrow just isn't getting it. Potty in the literbox. Why can't she do it anymore? Why cant i find a diaper that she can't walk out of every damn time? Why isn't her medication helping her enough? What do i do now?

She had another accident and my husband kind of blew up about it. I appreciate all the patience he's given her but its all gone now. I get where he's coming from but I can't seem to fix her.

I can't give her away with her problems. Frankly I wouldn't want to. Any shelter isn't going to be able to adopt her out. Im sure my husband has his idea but I don't even want to say it.

What do I do. Im in tears about this

Me age 42 usa with a vet. Her 12 years old and spayed

Behavioral Issue Why does she lay like this?

Thumbnail gallery
2.6k Upvotes

Hello, my cat is a year and a half old and I have had her since she was 3 months old. The past few months, she has started laying down like this on occasion-- mostly on my bed or my desk chair. Her arms are splayed out and her hands are tucked behind her like a chicken with her chest and head flush on the surface (except now since she is looking at me taking the pics). I have never seen it in other cats.

Is this health related? If she's just being silly then that is fine but if there is something deeper going on I am very much willing to take her to the vet. Thank you!

I am 24F in the USA and vet is accessible.

Eye Issues What are the chances her damaged eye doesn’t work? Will it heal fully?

This is my foster kitten (unspayed but vaccinated and dewormed) who is about 11 weeks. Her eye was damaged from a severe eye infection when she was 5-6 weeks old. I got her at 7 weeks, and the shelter is aware of her eye situation. I’m just wondering if it will get better or if she can see with it. The eye appears smaller and flatter than the other eye.

Country: USA
The shelter I foster for will take care of any veterinary needs.

General Advice how to prepare for kitten getting all teeth removed?

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

this guy has been in my colony for a month or so and i didn’t initially plan to bring him inside because i already have had 4 fosters for a year now, in addition to 1 resident. then we had a slight cold front friday and he was really struggling and stopped eating, so i decided to just finally give in and take him in. we went to the vet sunday and got a possible dx of stomatitis. today it was confirmed by a dental specialist, in addition to ulcers in back of mouth and on his tongue. skin peeling in mouth, etc 😖

as a result, he is staying there overnight and getting the procedure done to remove all of his teeth tomorrow.

what can i expect in caring for a 5 month old kitten with all of his teeth pulled? how can i prepare? will it be too tedious/time consuming with my 8-5?

im an adult, he’s already getting vet care, we’re in USA,
he is a neutered male

Breathing Issues Cat gets extremely out of breath when playing.

• Upvotes

Not a minor, I the USA, I have a vet and mentioned this a while ago to him but I think it’s getting worse. He’s been to the vet 3 times since he was born one for a kitten check up then 2 times at 12 weeks and one at 4 months to get all his shots. He and his sister are getting neutered and spayed on the 5th of November. He is currently 5.5 months old. I can afford non major vet care I love this little guy and he’s worth taking care of I just can’t afford a surgery in the thousands but I don’t think that this needs that.

I’m trying to add some enrichment to my cats lives playing with them for like 15 minutes before I go to bed because I’m not home much and feel bad that they are left alone. The issue is that Edward keeps getting out of breath. I try to stop when he starts breathing heavily but he’s out of breath within a minute of play starting. Today it was worse than I’ve seen before. He sneezes a lot and has some heavy breathing at night when he sleeps next to my head but I assumed that cause he was right next to my ear making his breathing sound louder. However comparing this to his sister who’s not anywhere near out of breath when playing/sleeping I’m worried. I’ve mentioned the mucus that’s forms near constantly on his nose to the vet who said to contact him if it gets worse (I’m assuming this is probably gotten worse) but the breathing has gotten worse in the past month. He’s currently coughing I think it might be a hairball but I’m worried since it’s right after out hard play session that I had to cut short because of his breathing. But he keeps going back to playing with his sister when he finishes coughing so I think he’s okay. I’m definitely going to mention the breathing to the vet when he goes back for his neutering appointment but I’m wondering if I should call the vet and let him know sooner. These 2 are my first cats and I’m used to dogs breathing hard but I’ve seen post on here that say it’s bad for cats to do so I’ve spent so long trying to write this his breathing has gone completely back to normal but I’d like any recommendations that you have.

TLDR: cat is panting after short sessions of play and occasionally breathing very heavily it’s getting worse and I want to know what steps to take next.

Sorry for the long post I tend to worry.

Injury I need help supporting cats through grief

Hi everyone, I have a sad post to make that involves a pet passing away, please do not read further if you do not want to read about the loss of a pet.

I’m a 24yo woman living with my 28yo roommate (also woman) in the US. We have a neighbor who got a cat and decided to throw her outside to fend for herself and ever since then she’s been popping out litters because of the stray tomcats in the area and we’ve been the only ones taking care of her and her babies. We haven’t been able to nab her and get her fixed yet due to her timid, semi-feral nature but we care for her and we’ve taken in all of her kittens and fixed them. Now for the sad part, her first litter is maybe a year old now and there’s been 2 girls and 1 boy in both litters so far. This first litter was almost 5 months old when we first found them so they were pretty established outside and the boy (we named him Bilbo) especially doesn’t like being inside much. Bilbo really likes to be outside with his momma and will cry at every window and door for hours if we try to keep him in, so we let him out whenever he wants to go (he also pees on our clothes when we don’t let him out so its a tough choice to force him to stay in). Well, the thing I was the most afraid of happened and he was struck by a car two night ago (and don’t worry, the remaining cats have officially been banned from leaving the house ever again), however, we think his sister was nearby and may have seen the incident because she disappeared for over 24 hours which is very unlike her and she seemed anxious when she finally made her way back home. I’ve woken up this morning to see some bright red blood in her stool, the stool itself seems a bit liquidy/mucusy, and I’m hoping that the cause is just stress because she looks very healthy still and is uninjured as far as I can tell. I’m looking for tips on how best to help her right now because they were very bonded and I’m sure she’s probably devastated, she’s been bouncing between being very clingy and crying to go outside which she normally doesn’t do. One of our neighbors found our boy very early in the morning yesterday and we just figured out what happened last night when his sister came home without him so we are getting his body today to let the girls say goodbye and bury him here in hopes that this will bring them some closure but I’m just at a loss with the blood in her stool and I’m very worried for her. If this continues I’ll take her to the vet but I guess I’m just not sure what to look out for right now 🥲 Any advice is welcomed, I’ve never dealt with a loss like this and I want to help my sweet girls the best I can (I’m going to include a picture of our baby Bilbo, may he rest in peace)

Behavioral Issue What's going on with this cat?

This is not my cat. I don't know who it belongs to. I've asked around and I haven't found the owner. I'm in Germany. I think it's a female cat. she follows everyone around and is always vocalizing in this manner. it's very tame. I know cats very well, have had a few myself and I've never seen anything like this. I've seen this cat a few times before over the course of a few years and it's always been behaving like this. Sometimes she rolls on her back/shows her belly, so she's very trusty/tame. she lets me pet her too.

Edit: Just want to add that the cat is not just doing this for 2 minutes and calms down, she is behaving like this every second of the day - constantly. That's what I find unusual.

Behavioral Issue Peeing outside of box

Post image
• Upvotes

We have 2 cats and someone has been peeing outside of the litter box. They’ve specifically been doing it in one of our bathrooms, on the rug. I threw the rug away, got another one, and today there was more pee.

Because I don’t know which one is peeing, does this mean I have to take BOTH cats to the vet? They’ve otherwise acting completely normal- nothing at all is different. Any tips?

These are the culprits

Kitten Help Kitten needs help (M27)

My kitten (1 month, female, US, CALI) ingested a plastic silicone tip from a bottle for breastfeeding kittens (ripped it right off) . We’ve been to the vet and tried to make her vomit it but no luck and now we have to wait 24 hours until it maybe passes. What are the odds she actually passes it through her intestine? I already got care credit but it only helps with 2K and we’ve already paid 625$ today trying to make her vomit the piece.

Behavioral Issue Need advice on how to go about putting diapers on my cat as a long-term solution - I am desperate :(

Post image
27 Upvotes

TLDR; My senior 13yo cat, (female, spayed, has diagnosed arthritis, HCM, IBD, and spondylosis), who I suspect now has mental decline, is peeing everywhere in my rental apartment. She's treated for her conditions, and I tried all I could think of, so now I am considering diapers as a last resort. I'd like to know what experience people have with having cats in diapers and best practices on avoiding UTIs and diaper rashes, and maybe good diaper recommendations (my cat has pretty big pee volume)

I'm 21+ and located in CA, USA.

Cat's health profile: My 13yo Maine Coon cat has had arthritis for a couple of years and is continuously on monthly Solensia injections. I've also been giving her 50mg Gabapentin(only 50mg because her back legs become nearly fully limp if it's above 50mg). She is on medications for her heart (treats high blood pressure and prevents blood clots). She is on the dry prescription diet for her IBD (hydrolyzed protein). She also gets laxatives because her diet makes her stool hard. Her blood panel is good enough for her age minus the heart indicators. She has been pooping outside litter box (anywhere in the apartment) for over a year now, which is shitty (LOL), but it's nowhere as bad as the pee, so I don't mind it as much.

What I've tried:

  1. I tried putting her on Fluoxetine/Prozac but she got the nasty side effect of urine retention and ended up getting UTI. She was treated for the said UTI, and, generally, she doesn't have any other bladder related issues - she had ultrasound to rule that out.
  2. I have 2 low-entry litter boxes that only she uses, and she doesn't mind using (when she doesn't pee elsewhere) I use pee-pads because at some point (1ish year ago) she just stopped accepting litter.
  3. I use enzyme cleaners and wipe everything thoroughly. I bought carpet vacuum cleaner and use enzymatic solution.
  4. The vets are essentially "it is what it is" about this issue.

I do have another cat but they are half sisters and they've been together since their 1st year. That cat also has her own 2 litter boxes with proper litter - she doesn't go onto pee pads. They, generally, neutral towards each other, and they never fight, and these days they barely interact (I think it has to do with how my cat's behavior changed).

Cat's behavior: There are days when she is fine, and she pees in her pee-padded litter box, but, more often than not, there are times when she looks a bit out of it (staring into nothing, seems frustrated/confused), and she goes and pees on rugs, bed, couch, or hardwood floors. Or sometimes she looks fine, and she still pees elsewhere.

My desperation: Her peeing everywhere became my bane of existence. Everyday, first thing in the morning, I get up and inspect where she could have peed, and clean, clean, clean. She ruined multiple rugs. She peed on my bed multiple times (thank god for mattress protector) having me wash entire bedding (I share laundry and the washing machines are small, so it's such a pain). She pees on the hardwood floors of my rental pre-WW1 apartment, so I am terrified I'd get slapped with expensive floor replacement charges or lose my entire deposit when I have to move out. The apt floors is my biggest concern. I also hate the idea of having guests over because what if it smells like cat urine to them. I am tired even thought I am doing all I can (I think? idk what else is out there?)

General Advice I miss my cat.

• Upvotes

My 9-year-old male DSH was diagnosed with diabetes on September 28 and euthanized at home on October 17 after a rapid decline. Within three weeks, he developed severe DKA, fluid around his lungs (pleural effusion), a markedly enlarged left kidney, and extremely high white blood cell counts. The vets also mentioned a possibly enlarged left atrium, and his bloodwork showed elevated bilirubin while imaging noted mild liver enlargement. I’m unsure whether his heart or liver was actually diseased. They suspected infection, cancer, or kidney-related disease, but we never got a definitive diagnosis.

Before his decline, he suddenly started straining to urinate and passing only drops. His bladder was full, and he eventually urinated during the vet’s examination and passed blood clots. UTI tests were negative, and his urination later seemed normal. I keep wondering whether this was connected to everything that followed.

His chest fluid reportedly showed no cancer cells, but possibly septic material. The ER recommended continued hospitalization, oxygen, and more testing, but the cost became overwhelming. I thought we could still fight this, so we brought him home hoping for more time. Instead, we said goodbye the next day.
I can’t stop wondering if I gave up too soon. Could this have been a treatable infection or severe inflammation rather than cancer? Could antibiotics and continued hospitalization have saved him? Should we have done a kidney sample or an echocardiogram to investigate the kidney and possible heart issues? Could he realistically have recovered, or was he already too critically ill?

I miss him more than words can express. I cry almost every hour. I look at his favorite spots and still expect him to be there. I don’t hear his collar jingling or his meows in the morning, and I still can’t believe he’s gone. I keep wishing I could go back and save him.
I feel like I failed him as his mom. He was depending on me, and I couldn’t save him from whatever he was fighting. Not knowing whether there was still hope is eating me alive. I’m not looking for empty reassurance. I genuinely want to understand what happened and whether I could have done anything differently. If anyone has veterinary insight or has experienced something similar, I’d be grateful for your perspective.

Behavioral Issue Why does she do this?

I’m trying to understand why my (28M USA) 2.5 year old cat has an obsession with clawing at doors and door trim. We’ve been dealing with her pawing at the front door like this, the refrigerator door, and she scratches at door trim. Similarly, she does this to mirrors, plexi/plastic chairs. We’ve tried to remedy the issue by placing large amounts of scratch pads on the wall which are used by our other cats, but never her. We got her a natural wood scratching post, which she does use, but she prefers to just go ham on the door/trim. On the door/trim, we’ve placed anti-scratch plastic film or adhesive to push her away from it, but she just keeps going. She’s a vocal girl, and always chats when she doesn’t. I’d love other opinions, and here are our working theories. I could be wrong on all of these, but would appreciate insight.

  1. She wants to get into whatever door. The front door is not good for our apartment because it leads to a semi-private common area stairwell and we cannot watch her. I’ve had the idea of placing a camera in there if I do leave her in that place, but that is where our heating system is, and would prefer her to be away from natural gas. This doesn’t explain why she wants to do it to the fridge and a mirror and other smooth objects.
  2. She is demanding attention. She’s a bit of a monster when it comes to me and my time, and will constantly love bomb me when she gets the chance. She does this when we’re in the vicinity of the living room, and when she does it, we react and chase her away. Normally she’ll settle down with time, but she will sit with us and then get up to do it after visiting a scratching post.
  3. She has nail/paw issues and this is a sensory thing. She is a long haired cat who doesn’t like to get nails clipped, or for that matter, us touching her paw pads to expose her nails. We have shaved her paws because hair grows a bit more down there and want her to have traction. Other reasons why we believe this may be a sensory thing is that she makes biscuits but only on raw skin. She’ll go under blankets to make biscuits on our legs or arms. She’s averse to standard cardboard and roped scratching posts. She seems to like to grip places where there are angles (like door trim or door frames) and use her nails to dig in. Recently, she’s picked up a weird thing of acting like she’s chewing on something but she isn’t. May fall into point 2.

We love our girl but I don’t want to have to move through life having to patch trim or replace things. Just want to figure this behavior out because we have tried everything we can think of. Thank you for the support!

EDIT: Just had to add to this that she scratches her claws on the walls too to make the chalkboard screeching sound.

General Advice How can I help this neighborhood cat?

Post image
34 Upvotes

This sweet kitty is an outdoor cat who lives on my street in Brooklyn, NY. She’s very friendly and loves all kinds of affection. Lately I’ve been feeding her and trying to lure her into my home with treats, but she gets very anxious as soon as I close the door behind her. She loves when I sit outside on my stoop with her, and often waits for me to get off work.

Right now, I have a few primary concerns. Her ears are bumpy, scabby, and sometimes she itches them until they bleed. What could be causing this? She doesn’t appear to have fleas, but I’m thinking the bumps could be from fly bites or mosquitos. What’s the best way to treat her and stop the itch?

Also, as the weather gets colder, I’m concerned about her being outside. I want to let her in, but don’t know if that’s the best idea given I don’t know if she’s carrying any parasites.

I know that she technically has owners, that “own” 9 cats that they allow to freely roam. This girl is one of them. She may not be spayed because I know she’s had kittens before (according to a neighbor). The owners seem to be pretty neglectful.

Unfortunately if I take the cat in, the owners will probably suspect that it’s me since they know that I feed her. I don’t want them to retaliate.

Any advice regarding her ear, taking her in, etc would be appreciated. I have not contacted a vet, but if I need to, I’d be able to afford treatment.

I am a young adult. Cat’s age is unknown.

Sasha in the 4th pic and Notch in the last

So I’ll try giving as much context as I can, I have a female(almost 3 years old) , male(about 1.5-2 years old) and a male kitten (4 months old) the issue is with the older male cat.

I have my female cat (Jinx) first and after about a year we adopted the male (Notch)

He was always much more energetic and playful than her and would always pick on her while she wanted nothing to do with him. At some point every time she tried to use the litter (we had 2 boxes) he would jump on her and just not let her use it. We started holding him just so she can go to the litter box peacefully.

Then we moved to a new apartment and things settled down more, he would stop interrupting her and we had a better location to the litter boxes (in the laundry room with a kitty door they go through, you can see in the picture) she still doesn’t like him and he occasionally chases her (it seems playful but she hates it and hisses at him) we always stop him from bullying her 🫠 we also have a catio now and when he sees she out in the catio he chases her into the house. I feel like he’s very territorial but I don’t know how to fix it. (She was here first!!)

Now on Saturday night we found a kitten and on Sunday we took him to the vet and brought him in, we called him Sasha.

Currently he’s in the laundry room where their litter boxes are usually and we put out their boxes and got another one for him.

We do not let them interact and they can only see each other through the kitty door. At first Jinx hissed when she saw him there but she’s more scared than aggressive.

Notch on the other hand… he’s completely fixated on the laundry room ever since we brought Sasha and shows a lot of aggression, literally slams himself against the door.

For a bit I put a cover so he won’t see him and then took it off because I thought he should get used to him?

Fast forward this morning, I went out for 5 minutes to get something from my car and when I returned I saw Notch inside the laundry room. I opened the door and saw food and water spilled, Sasha’s fur everywhere and poop (he soiled himself)

I’m not sure if Notch managed to open the kitty door (we locked it from both sides) or maybe we forgot to lock it last night 🫤

Now Sasha is hiding behind the washing machine and too scared to get out. I cleaned everything up and left him water and wet food but he looked terrified (I managed to sneak a peek from the side)

I don’t know what to do and I’m afraid Notch will keep being this aggressive. Please help.

Is there any chance they’ll get along after this?

And no need to shame me because I feel horrible. I covered the kitty door again so they won’t see each other and made sure it’s locked /:

Breathing Issues Unusual Breathing?

Female, desexed, 5 year old.
Video below

One large breath followed by a few seconds of no breathing, then lots of abdominal movement. She has had breakfast, is super happy and active today. I just notice when she is lying down on her side her breathing looks unusual. Occasionally she coughs and has sneezing fits. Only other concern I have is her weight, she is fairly light even when fed the same amount as my bigger cats. Her coat is healthy, she is just a little scruffy as it has been raining this morning.

Poster is from Australia 18+ and I can take her to a vet.

Kitten Help 8 month kitten huffs and stinks

I’m a 16 year old Canadian kid. I’ve had cats before who have stunk but she’s special. We have a vet but it’s super expensive.

Ignore the audio in the video lol, idk how to post photos only videos.
Meet gibby, a 8 month old tuxedo girl who huffs at my mom and other cat. And who chronically stinks. I’ve had cats before and she has a sister who is a year old. Her name is brook, but she smells good and DOSENT huff.
Gibby huffs when it’s bedtime, or when her sister annoys her. She doesn’t show signs of cat asthma, or any sickness. Is she just dramatic?

Behavioral Issue Is this head pressing?

Currently waiting for vet to schedule an appointment with me sometime this week.

I’m 30, posting from the US/NYC. I can afford vet care / have support to afford it if I can’t (mom, older brother.)

Male cat (Tony, age 4, neutered) has been sleeping with his head pressed down often now. He used to do this on and off in the past but he’s always healthy for his yearly vet check ups.

Tony has a history of hitting his head a lot (he throws himself onto the floor for belly rubs and often slams his head into the wooden floors).

He has some quirks like walking on the baseboard heater (the baseboard sticks out) with his front two legs.

I was going to take him sooner before his annual visit to check his vision because he sometimes gets scared of his bowl, water bubbles, and other random things. I was suspecting thats why he’s not a very good hunter (or I’m comparing him to my late cat who may have just been a really good hunter and the bar’s too high).

(I love Tony, but I watched him and the other cat Georgie trying to kill a moth for 40 minutes. All dumb and dumber (endearment) did was make the moth fly at my face for the entire 40 minutes. Hunting is not their thing.)

I’m just worried it could be neurological and I’d just like to brace myself because I don’t quite know what that means or what to expect or if there’s anything to do or if it’s one of those: ‘just watch him and see if something gets worse and come back’ situations.

General Advice Possible animal neglect? - F18, USA.

There's this tabby that has been coming around to us for the past month, and we've just been informed that it + another cat could belong to our neighbor across from us (we live in an apartment complex, this is the unit ahead.)

Despite that, we've seen these two cats wander in and outside the complex for days—always coming back, but always hungry and not looking well. Fur looks dirty, the tabby has an older injury to his tail that does not look like it has been taken care of.. The other cat, a solid white one, is rarely seen and always freezes and runs away at the slightest hint of people. Our other neighbor hears it cry sometimes and their daughter has to feed it. Neither seem to be neutered.

I'm hoping that maybe these two are simply outdoor cats and everything of concern is simply the result of the environment rather than neglect, or maybe the owner is overwhelmed and simply can't maintain them both as frequent as they'd like—but I am very concerned. I've considered calling an abuse/neglect hotline, but I could be dead wrong and I don't want to cause unnecessary trouble. I've called 311 before finding all this out, but of course they've done nothing so we've just been feeding the tabby since. I've tried feeding the white cat, but it is far too skittish.

Thoughts or advice is appreciated, thank you.

TLDR: Two cats possibly being neglected, considering calling hotline but unsure. Need help.
