Discussion Zendaya and Tom
You’re a Broadway producer, and Zendaya and Tom Holland’s agents call you and say their clients want to star in a show together next season.
What show do you pick?

I’m very curious to hear how the invited dress looked tonight (when it lets out)! I’m going to the first preview tomorrow but feel like press and buzz have been pretty limited so far. I’d been quite excited for this, hoping it’s phenomenal!

I just found this on the counter next to soda dispenser in 7-11 on 8th Ave near 46th. I have it if you want it…it appears you went to the trouble to get the autographs. Drop me a message if you want it…I am staying in the area so I can get it to you.

Before I went to NYC this past weekend (10/17-10/18) I was heavily debating between seeing The Lost Boys or Operation Mincemeat. I’ve seen countless reviews saying that TLB was forgettable and the songs weren’t great, even tho it’s a spectacle. And that OM was the greatest thing since sliced bread and ppl saw it countless times and the story was better and it constantly won over TLB. I did not see OM but I did see the matinee show of TLB on Sunday and I don’t know what yall are smoking in this sub lol.
To preface this, I’ve never seen the original movie so I don’t have anything to compare it too. And I didn’t know much about this show besides it was about 80s rock vampires and had a lot of noteworthy special effects. Also to preface Mason Olshavsky was Michael and Ashley Jenkins was Lucy for my show. And I sat in the right balcony, row C seat 24. So like, three rows from the front and 3 seats in front the side. Decent view but missed some visuals.
The songs were amazing and I’ve been playing the soundtrack on repeat since I saw it Sunday. The characters had fun personalities and I liked the chemistry between most of them. The vocal talent was insane, and I really loved the understudies for Michael and Lucy more than the original cast cause they sounded so rich and clear and soulful. I will admit there were a lot of belting songs. Like mostly belting songs. And the story was super predictable. But it wasn’t bad. Also the flying was super cool and the ending fight scene special effects were fun. I actually expected more special effects with how much ppl praised it and tbh those didn’t meet my expectations. Also I had balcony so some effects didn’t have the same effect from my view lol. But I’ve been reading that there were more stunts that were removed during the previews. Like I heard about a bridge jump and an elevator and an aerial fight? And there were also more story beats and songs that were removed after the previews. So I’m wondering if maybe that’s what ppl were judging when they said the show was forgettable and had bad songs? I know taste is subjective so idk maybe I have bad taste but I absolutely loved the show. I actually wish I got to see the original versions of the show now to compare.
I think the only thing it was lacking for me was more story, deeper development of relationships between characters, and then ending with the final fight was super anti climatic. Also the emphasis on Sam being queer felt extremely forced. And I would’ve loved more variety in the music, like maybe one more rock song from the band.
But I still loved every minute of the show and I really want a pro-shot made cause I wanna see the show from a better angle (cause I missed a lot of the edges of the stage from the balcony) and see the effects how they were intended to look. And I don’t wanna keep paying $$$ to travel to NYC to see it multiple times. The show had a lot of heart. It was funny, dramatic, romantic, visually stunning.
Now I feel like I need to watch OM to see if it really is 10x better than TLB cause I really can’t imagine it being so from what I’ve seen through ads.

Hi! Has anyone who’s seen the MHE tour been able to take a picture of the merch stand offerings? I am looking to purchase a windowcard with the updated art when it stops in my city and was wondering if it would be available. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Probably to balance out last week's cancelled performance, they've added a matinee for tomorrow (10/22) at 1 PM and lots of seats are up for grabs. Hope this helps!

I’m seeing the Rocky Horror Show on Broadway soon as a big fan of the movie, I know almost every callout and was wondering which ones are actually appropriate to say. I understand that it’s a Broadway show and I can’t be shouting one out after every line but how do I gauge which ones are actually okay for me to say and which ones aren’t?

So, my wife calls me a “professional musical hater.” Honestly, I detest the idea of watching something and everyone randomly breaking into the most cheesy songs ever. About a week ago, something caught my attention on Spotify, 600 Strike by Epic the Musical and I fell in love with it. Now, I’m eager to give musicals a chance because I’ve been listening to Epic every day since I heard it. Could you please recommend some musicals that we can enjoy together and bond over? (Btw I already tried hadestown and no offense but folk music is not my thing lol)

Hello!
My first time posting in this sub, so sorry if this has been asked before:
I FINALLY made it to NYC for the first time this year and made it to a Broadway show (yay!), and I really want to try to get back to see Julia Roberts in "Small Mouth Sounds." I know the prices will likely be insane, but I'm still interested in trying. Haha.
But being a Broadway newbie who does not live anywhere near NYC, what is the best way to find out when tickets go on sale? And how do I know what ticket seller is actually reliable?
Thanks so much!

I’m thinking of getting a ticket to add to a day I’ll already be in the city seeing another show. Trying to decide between this and Galileo. I know it’s a limited run, but I do want to see Galileo and don’t want to spend the money and time on a show that isn’t as good as it’s buying itself to be. Thanks!

Because of all the praise I have seen for the show on here I finally watched the PBS great performances pro shot and all I will say is I was absolutely blown away by how good this show was.

Doing my annual trip to NYC in late April/Early May. Already booked Damn Yankees, Warriors, and Evita. I’m leaving a spot open hoping an Ervio led Passion is made official. Is there not an enough time for them to announce and get this production going for the spring?
Would something like this begin in the fall? I assume they want to be up at Tony time but not sure if the rumored stars will commit to six+ months.
Anyone have any new rumors on Passion?

Need to book my bus home after the show. I'm seeing 90 mins and 2 hours online. I typically grab a 9:30pm bus out of Port Authority. With a 7:30 start time, will I be out for sure by 9:15? Do I need to pivot to a later bus?

Hi!
I’m planning on rushing a show this Tuesday and was set on the Outsiders. However, my friend mentioned possibly wanting to see Rocky Horror, which we have not seen yet. It will be both of our third times at the Outsiders and we’ve mentioned going together to see the “new” cast. I‘m conflicted on which I should rush because I really want to see Outsiders in row A or B and assumed that RH would have less availability due to Halloween that weekend but I checked and it’s still very available.
I planned on arriving to the Jacobs at 6/6:30 for row A hopefully and have seen online that it’s suggested to arrive to Studio 54 at 5/5:30 which I do not want do.
Which show may be better to see principal cast and stagedoor-wise on a Saturday vs. a Tuesday?
I want to see Daryl’s Dally before he leaves and also this current RH cast but I’m assuming there will be more time with them. I believe Daryl has pretty good attendance and does he often stagedoor nowadays too?
Any suggestions or advice? Sorry, I’m aware I just threw up all of my thoughts in this post lol. Thanks!

Hi everyone! Hopefully this is allowed, but I wanted to share a personal project I'm so proud of!
I have always had two very big passions both for theatre and Minecraft. I've always enjoyed the two and have wanted to combine the two and during Covid I did! I created a theatre company called Dreams Come True Productions (DCTP) and we would recreate full length productions with props, sets, costumes, choreography, you name it! Once real life started picking up again, it started to fizzle out, but I've always had such a passion to bring it back but even bigger than before!
So me and my friends created a whole theatre server dedicated to bringing theatre and Minecraft together! We want to introduce people to theatre in a new and innovative way! We just finished up our production of Anastasia: The New Musical in game and are working on a pro-shot! We perform these shows fully live and rehearse over several months!
This go around we are combining upcoming technology into the game (it's so cool) and we now have a fully working lighting system and have the ability to move sets seamlessly in the game. (For some this probably isnt new but it is for me haha) We have working costume systems, prop tables, player animations! It's so much fun and we plan to continue to expand to create fun quests that introduce theatre in a more story mode type way, offering people the chance to start their own theatre company, and just continue bringing the joy of theatre to the game!
Our theatre company DCTP is in pre-production for The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical with auditions opening soon followed by our own adaption to the stage of Epic: The Musical! We are so so excited! And this is all done as exclusive fan projects and are done fully free!
If you're interested in checking us out it's a fun time! We have a YouTube channel of past productions and an active Discord server!
Discord: https://discord.gg/FBRggskBgM
YouTube: https://m.youtube.com/@dreamscometrueproductions
I've also attached some photos of our past productions! But overall just wanted to share something I really care about and would love to get this community out there!

Hi everyone, I bought a ticket for Maybe happy ending today through StubHub ($270). Unfortunately, my kid got sick with a severe cough this morning and had to stay home, so I couldn't go. I tried listing it on StubHub, but it didn't sell.
I know StubHub has a strict no-refund policy, but does the theatre have a past-dated ticket policy for situations like this? Has anyone had any luck going to the box office in person with a doctor's note or proof?
I'm so bummed about losing the money and missing the show. Any advice or similar experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have to pick one out of two shows I want to see on the only day in New York I don’t have tickets yet for. I can either see The Lost Boys (which seeing with the Tony award winning cast would be incredible) or be at one of the first preview shows for the reinterpreted/reimagined The Fantasticks (I’m queer so I would be excited to see this version in part because of that!). I have little to no context going into either show…Any advice?

I managed to snag a digital rush ticket for tonight's opening night performance of 860, and I'm so excited!
I've never attended an opening night before, so I'm curious how tickets are allocated for these performances, especially through digital rush. I know they were selling opening night tickets when Billy was last on Broadway for Mr. Saturday Night, but that show wasn't selling nearly as well as 860.
Also, what makes opening night different from a regular performance? My ticket says 6 PM, and I'm wondering whether that's the actual curtain time or an earlier arrival time because of the opening-night festivities.
Would love to hear from anyone who's attended a Broadway opening night before. Thank you!
