Should we be firing clients who send their documents late every single month?
I keep hearing two camps on this.
Camp 1: Late documents are part of the job. Clients are busy, build the chasing into your fee and move on.
Camp 2: A client who's late every month is costing you more than they pay. Charge for it or let them go.
Where do you land? And if you've actually fired a client over this, did you regret it?

CAs and accountants of India, what is the most frustrating part of importing Excel/CSV data into Tally or other accounting software?
Hi everyone,
I'm exploring an idea for a small software tool and would like to understand the actual problems CAs and accounting professionals face in their daily work.
For those who regularly work with TallyPrime, Zoho Books, Excel, or other accounting software:
- Do you frequently face errors when importing bank statements, sales/purchase data, customer records, or other CSV/Excel files?
- What kind of errors cause the most trouble? For example, date formats, incorrect column mapping, duplicate entries, missing values, or something else?
- How do you usually fix these errors? Manually in Excel, through built-in software features, or using some other tool?
- Does fixing these issues take a significant amount of your time, or do existing tools already handle them well?
- Is there any import-related task you still wish could be automated?
I'm particularly interested in problems that occur repeatedly, not one-off inconveniences.
I'm not selling anything or claiming to have built a solution yet. I'm trying to understand whether there's a genuine problem worth solving before writing any code.
I'd appreciate honest feedback, including if you think existing accounting software already solves this problem adequately.
Thanks!

Intra-Family Loan/Mortgage
If I have an intrafamily loan that is currently secured by a mortgage on my existing property, can the existing note be modified so that it is secured by a new/replacement property after I sell the current property?
(If helpful, I am a Massachusetts resident and both properties are in Massachusetts.)

50/50 Raffle Winner!!! Should I walk away?
Hi everyone, I recently won a 50/50 raffle at a game and now I need help deciding if I should take the payout or walk away. Based on what they sent me something seems off but I honestly don't know. I had a hard time getting them to explain how they came up with the net winnings after taxes and fees. I knew there would be a lot of taxes but I couldn't follow their math. After several nice emails I asked them to break it out for me. I'm not putting blame on anyone I truly just want to know if their accounting math is correct. I don't want to be on the hook for unknown taxes. Here are the details -
Total Raffle Pot - $4,180
3rd party Fee - $3,000
UBI Tax (19.8%) - $422.55
Federal tax w/h (24%) – $90.89
State Tax w/h - $15.15
Net Prize to winner - $272.68
I can't seem to follow their math. Also would I be responsible for UBI Tax?

Real Estate Recoveries & Estimates
Hey Gang,
I'm looking for advice on how to bill CRE tenants for RE Estaimates and Recoveries.
We have properties that bill for property taxes in arrears.
So 2025 taxes are biled in two installments in 2026.
It gets confusing because do we bill our tenants' recoveries that moved in the middle of 2026 even though they are technically 2025 taxes but 2026 real estate expenses?
The way we have been billing is if they moved in in 2026, they would not be billed, and now the owners are saying we should be billing based on expenses for the year and not the year it is billed for.
Any advice would be helpful.
TIA

To book as goodwill or no?
I have an LLC taxed as an S corporation with three members. Two members were bought out for $500K, and their combined book equity was $300K. I recorded the $500K buyout in a “Partner Buyout/Acquisition Equity Account” and cleared the departing members’ equity balances against it, leaving a $200K balance. How should I account for the remaining $200K? Should I leave it in equity, move it to retained earnings, or record it as goodwill and amortize it over time?

I dissolved my S-corp early this year, do I need to file my 1120S ASAP?
My S corp was dissolved in feburary 2026. I did all the state filings, and the 941 back in March. My CPA retired and at the end they told me I just need to file 1120S towards the end of the year (this year).
And now I'm super confused because apparently I already missed the deadline for it??? I mean did I?? Is this something I need to do it ASAP or was my CPA right??

has anyone here seen a client qualify for an offer in compromise or is it mostly marketing?
I owe the irs and every ad I see makes it sound like you can settle for a fraction of what you owe but when I look at the acceptance rates most OIC applications get denied, I talked to a couple of resolution firms and they all say they can help but I cant figure out if this is realistic or if I am just going to pay an investigation fee and get told I need a payment plan anyway, anyone here advise clients on this stuff
