My Watch 42 mm or 46 mm series 12?

Thumbnail

First photo is the 42 mm and second photo is the 46. Both taken with 2x zoom (as it shows real life proportions better)

My gf, who is not into watches or tech, says the 42 looks better and it is “cute and little”… idk if I like that.

I initially got the 46 mm and it felt big. Now, I also picked up the 42 mm and that feels small. I need to return one.

I did get this mostly for the health tracking features and want one that won’t be bothersome to sleep in. So that point goes to the 42 mm.

But then again, the 42 mm screen is noticeably smaller and slightly more difficult to navigate. So that point goes to the 46 mm

Im torn and could really go either way. What do the random strangers of reddit think?

Discussion Costco Black Friday

I just wanted to ask, is there a possibility of a Black Friday deal at Costco for the new Series 12 Apple Watch, and if so, how much would the discount possibly be? I know there’s no guarantees obviously, but I just want to know the estimates for it if possible.

Discussion Apple Watch Series 12 owners: How accurate is sleep and step tracking? Any former Withings users?

• Upvotes

I'm considering switching to the Apple Watch Series 12 after wearing a Withings ScanWatch 1 for the past 3.5 years, and I'd love to hear about your real-world experiences.

I've really enjoyed my Withings. I love its classic design, sapphire glass, simplicity, and long battery life. However, I'm not entirely satisfied with its sleep tracking, and the battery has deteriorated significantly over the years (from around three weeks to just 5 days).

My main reasons for considering the AW12 are more accurate sleep tracking, reliable step counting, and better overall health insights.

I'd particularly appreciate feedback on three things:

1. Sleep tracking

  • How accurate do you find the AW12 at detecting deep sleep, REM, light sleep, and awake periods?
  • Does the data generally match how well you actually slept?
  • Has anyone compared it with a Withings ScanWatch or another sleep tracker?

2. Step counting

  • How reliable is the step counter during everyday activities and walking?
  • Has anyone switching from Withings noticed differences in step counts?

3. Durability and scratch resistance

  • How is your AW12 holding up so far, particularly the screen and case?
  • I'm especially interested in experiences with the aluminium version versus titanium.
  • Have you noticed any scratches, scuffs, or damage during normal daily use, without a case or screen protector?
  • Has anyone experienced issues with the slightly raised edge where the glass meets the case?

Specific question: Has anyone here switched from a Withings ScanWatch to an Apple Watch? If so, do you feel it was a worthwhile upgrade? Is there anything you miss about your Withings?

I'm drawn to the Apple Watch's health features, but I also value simplicity and a watch that still looks great after years of use. My current ScanWatch is scratch-free and looks as new after 3.5 years, and I'd love my next watch to be similarly durable.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback, both positive and negative, from people who actually own the Series 12.

Thanks!

WatchOS HELP ME, I’m losing it.

Hello.
I got a new SE3 watch. I have an iPhone 16 pro.
I installed ios 27 on my phone first.
Then I tried pairing it with my new watch.
The watch app said I have to first install watchOS 27.0.1. I said okay.

Problem is, it’s been stuck on 4 hours remaining for almost 4 hours. No progress in the progress bar either.

I’ve tried everything. Restarting both phone and watch, force shutting down the watch app, nothing is working. When I restart, it’s the same problem all over AGAIN. My watch has also been on charging this whole time.

I’m losing my mind. Help.

Hi, I recently bought a Just In Case watch strap, like the one in the picture. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to adjust the buckle thing (I’m not sure what it’s called), in order to adjust the size of the strap. Does anyone have an idea?

Series 12 Cellular for $413 after student discount and trade-in or buy a used Series 11 Cellular for $200-$250?
Which one should I get? I can’t decide on getting the series 11 for a cheaper price or get the series 12 since they got better heart rate sensors and longer battery.

My Watch Is the watch too big?

The second watch is my ancient Apple Watch Series 3, I changed it this year to the Apple Watch SE 3 and I’m happy with it. With the Series 3 the size would actually bother me a lot, because I would always feel it was too small, it was the 38mm version and the bezels were huge. So when I got the se 3 I naturally went for the 44mm version because i wanted more screen but now I’ve been wondering if it’s too big for my wrist
I know this post is very common on this subreddit but I hunt wanna know what you guys think, I won’t change it or anything because I like it but I’m curious about it

Discussion I’m starting to think these sleep score numbers are made up.

How are you gonna tell me I got 5 hours and 22 minutes of sleep last night when I know I didn’t? I would not be able to function on that little bit of sleep. The other night it tried to tell me I was awake for an hour and a half. No, I most certainly was not.

Discussion Apple watch new sensor

So far, I’ve come across quite a lot of discussions and reviews suggesting that the Apple Watch Series 12’s heart rate sensor hasn’t been very impressive. Many users have complained about the heart rate suddenly dropping before eventually picking up and tracking accurately again. Interestingly, when they compare it with older Apple Watch models, the older models seem to perform slightly better. The same goes for other devices, such as the Pixel Watch, which has also delivered very good results based on their experiences.
It makes me wonder a little about Apple’s marketing and the claims they’ve made publicly about how accurate their new sensor is. Honestly, it’s a little disappointing, and I can’t help but feel curious and confused about what’s actually going on…

Discussion Workout buddy with Watch OS 27?

Is anybody seeing any benefits, enjoyment, and/or motivation using Workout Buddy on your Apple Watch without the phone nearby? Meaning you’ve got cellular service on your watch. I enjoy workout buddy while on a treadmill or stationary bike and I have Siri notifications on while I run outside. I’m just wondering if it’s really worth it to get cell service? Thanks.

Discussion Series 12 HR dropouts - how is your experience?

Thumbnail

I’ve been wearing fitness trackers with optical heart rate sensors since 2015, most of them are different Fitbit and Pixel devices and they all performed differently at heart rate tracking. The Pixel Watches are however pretty much reliable since Gen 1, even during HIIT.

About two weeks ago I switched to Apple ecosystem and bought an Apple Watch Series 12. I must say I was impressed by the advertisement, especially the new heart rate sensors. However I would call this the worst heart rate tracking I’ve ever encountered in the last 5 years…

For the last weeks I’m mainly doing low pace activities such as quick walking, but AW 12 either failed to track my heart rate almost entirely, or is constantly dropping out, or giving me ridiculous readings. Out of all 14 activities, only 4 of them are actually complete and not having ridiculous readings…

I clean the sensor before the activity, at night before I get to sleep and mornings after I wake up. So I’m having a hard time figuring out why it behaves like this. I don’t have tattoos, and placed the watch about two fingers from my wrist bone tightly.

How’s your experience so far? And is Ultra 4 better?

Using the Apple Watch alongside my Fitbit Air.
Have it on during weekends and time off etc.
it was in the drawer for quite some time but this configuration has made me like it again.
Don’t use it for workouts etc. just time and notifications.

All in all - just an appreciation post about the new faces. 🙌🏻

Discussion Series 12 Blue Ceramic in daylight pic anyone?

I went to the Apple store today looking to upgrade my Series 8 SS to the Ultra 4 but wasn’t sure if I wanted Titanium or Black, but ended up falling in love with the blue ceramic S12. It feels lighter than my SS and it sits flat on my wrist and looks more refined.

In the store light I could not even tell it was blue with my black Milanese loop on it. Store is in a huge mall so I couldn’t take it outside but I am wondering how the watch looks in normal daylight conditions. Anyone have a picture?

Any major negative on the ceramic version? I did see one post where the white case had chipped already but not sure of the cause.
