How is Dell still able to sell the Alienware PC with a 5090 for lower than everyone else? I figured they would have raised prices already since the news about production.

Hey everyone! I recently picked up this massive dual GPU Alienware 18. It has an i7, 32gigs of RAM, two AMD GPUs, an SSD and a drive for games. I paid around 140$ for it, just had to add the drives. I could not believe the price for its condition. It looks brand new! Just needed a repaste. Battery's toast but I wouldn't be game on it on battery anyway.

This is my first alienware and honestly I never thought a machine like this would ever get to my hands. I only used to look at pictures of computers like this but here we are :D. After seeing how huge, beautiful and colorful this thing is, most modern gaming laptops look cheap to me even though they will likely be even more powerful xD.

It runs beautifully, been playing some DOOM Eternal on nightmare and it's been a blast. Definitely my favourite piece of hardware.

Hi people, is the first time I wrote in this space, but in my alienware there was problems with the battery, i chenged and checking the BIOS says something about problem connection or just dont identify the battery and juat appear the power by the charger.
But also, i don't know if I connect the cable correctly
I'm relative new with Alienware, but this problem with the battery has been so long, i need help

Recently acquired a working Alienware R2 for $60. Im parting it out and want to throw a 5800XT cpu. I've done hours of research and found this question a few times.

One thing thats common is most people say its not possible. With bits of information between the nonsense I found it is definitely possible to do this on an R2 but was wondering if anyone who has done so can chime in on their builds (those who have updated their motherboards) with some tips.

My biggest concern is getting the front panel connected but heard you can use some jumpers just not sure where to put them or the exact cables.

Just wanted to put it out there, if anyone is having this issue. I have been experiencing this for a long time, I even bought a new battery which didn’t fix it.

I was having problems with it completely losing power even though the battery had a charge, it loses power just as the windows login is about to appear.

Dell sent me a new ribbon cable which didn’t fix it and they told me to buy a new battery.

It never had issues with turning off if I let the AC stay in till after login, I could take it out afterwards and it’s fine.

I recently just clutching at straws tried different things and I disabled windows hello facial recognition and it has booted up every time since perfectly.

Give it a go if you’ve had this issue.

Hey guys, just curious if anyone has undervolted their alienware act1250s or auroras for dlss5? I recently did it with msi afterburner and heaven engine, i used curve editor and now my temps dropped to 62-64c under gaming load, seems like gpu runs cooler now? I have a rtx 5080

My new Alienware 15 has a slight screen misalignment.Is this normal? Will it cause hinge issues?

I have had two mother boards replaced in the last 2 weeks. The last board was swapped 2 days ago, and after it was in, I cannot play netflix, prime, youtube, or game at all. Running a benchmark on the gpu shows 3 to 8 FPS average with a max of 33 FPS. My monitors (1 is a 4K MSI, 1 is a LG 2K - both external) are going black and then coming back over and over when I try to do pretty much anything that uses the GPU. . The PC is BSOD crashing, and I had to do a recovery to even get it to boot this morning when I got up to sit down for work. The reliability monitor shows hardware errors on the GPU, and my Power Brick is getting really hot as well, even at idle. I used my laser thermometer and it is sitting at 140 - 165*F with nothing opened up at all. Dell is telling me to wipe my drive, and do a full recovery as a fix, which makes no sense to me at all. I had other issues with my USB devices going in and out every few seconds before this last MB swap. This laptop is not even 9 months old, and I have Alienware Elite care with "keep your drive" as a warranty. What do you think I should respond with to be able to get a working laptop back? 3rd mother board? New power brick? Replacement? I feel like I am being given the run around and not really being "supported" by my warranty.

I just found a little weird that my CPU zone 2 some how appear to be 0
I haven't look in to it before, I clicked the AWCC randomly to see this.

I think it is not normal, but I want to ask whether anyone has seen this before

Hi guys, I just bought an Area 51 (AAT2250) with a beautiful 5090 inside. I work as a 3D artist in the field of VFX so having a machine with this specs feels like a huge upgrade from my older system. After reading about the connector issues regarding 5090 i starter worrying about it pretty seriously, and after checking the connector on my PC I no ted that is bene heavily, what do you guys suggest? Is it me just being paranoid or should I RMA this product hoping for better cable bending? (Sorry for my bad english)

Hey all. Wondering if anyone has any advice / the same issue. The computer was working fine today, went to shut it down, and it said it needed to update. No problem, normal right? Well once it updated it has basically been a brick. Cannot get it past this screen and no f keys work to try to get it to bios. Any help here is much appreciated. Currently using it for my band on tour and we are left with no choice but to buy a brand new laptop at the last second.

I have an alienware aurora 16 (intel 7 240h - 32gb RAM - rtx 5060) and i'm satisfied of it.

Use : mostly for gaming and common stuff (papers...).

Playing on dual 27" screens with laptop screen disconnected (cause laptop screen is hidden on desk)

I was wondering how do you guys optimize your laptop for gaming ?

Here is my checklist :

- MUX on dgpu only

- high performance battery use

- gaming mode on - windows 11

- Windows 11 debloat done

- Optimized nvidia settings for performance in game (i prefer smooth experience in game)

- Resolution in 1080p for smoother experience

Do you guys have any tips i missed ?

Dell SupportAssist is recommending I update my bios from 1.2.14 to 1.13.1. I've been considering it because I've been having weird glitches with windows, but I've also heard about BIOS updates bricking this particular model a lot. What's the real risk? Should I just do it?

Its huge and heavy… and arrived a day early. Zero updates from BestBuy and FedEx until today - “Delivered” lol

First I lost my Aurora R15, now I've lost my Alienware Pro keyboard. All AWCC thinks I have is a mouse. Each AWCC update, I hope they come back, but no.

The funny thing is that AWCC is detecting fan speeds, CPU temps, etc and I can switch between quiet, balanced, performance and custom modes, etc. It just doesn't show the desktop and keyboard as part of my system.

So really, it's only AlienFX that has lost my R15 and keyboard, would I would like them back, please.

Just in case you're wondering, I haven't literally lost them. They are all connected and working. It's just that AWCC AlienFX won't see them.

Oh, just updated to AWCC V6.14.54.0 and my keyboard is back. Please can I have my desktop back next update?!

Also, with regards to hosting ai locally, the 5090 variant is exceptional! Preview (less than 3min till output - asked for world pop counter, completely offline qwen model @ roughly 200tokens/s)

Never thought I’d see the day where so much was supported on Linux. If you’re on the fence, with the newer models of AW - it can handle it. Latest cuda worked out of the box, and AWCC / fan control is also working. Plenty of linux projects for those.

Ive had it for 4 years, and it hasnt been hit or physically damaged. I noticed the issue 1-2 weeks ago. What could this be, how did it happen and should i be worried?

Lately, I’ve been having temperature issues with my Alienware 18; it stays at 90°C just minutes after booting up Windows and reaches up to 105°C even during light gaming capped at 60fps. I’m considering replacing the thermal paste with PTM 7950, but I’d like to know if there are any alternatives. I’m based in Argentina, and this is the first Alienware laptop I’ve owned.

Would there be any upside to this other than not paying more for the 5070 ti.

Stupid question but I'm pc illiterate. I have picked out my old Steam Machine to use for playing the most basic of games but hasn't been touched in years. Finally got it working after a CMOS replacement but it is running extremely slowly due to loads of apps, games etc requiring updates as well as the normal system updates.

Is there a way for me to do a factory reset that returns the pc to the way it would start when it was new. For example, booting to Steam OS and having all the unnecessary files removed?

Less than two years ago I picked up an Alienware M18 laptop during a Christmas sale, and it had intermittent crashing issues throughout its life. About a month ago after I came back from a two week trip, while the laptop was plugged in to a surge protector but was powered off, it wouldn't turn on again, no lights or error codes. I tried troubleshooting myself but then brought it in to a local repair place that fixed a couple of exploded capacitors on the power rail on the motherboard, but they just let me know that the fix didn't work and they still dont know what's wrong.

Does anyone know of any advanced troubleshooting services to recommend? It's a 4090 laptop with all the trimmings and in the current environment I'm not going to buy an equivalent replacement, I also don't think i'd ever get a Dell or an alienware ever again with it fully blowing itself out less than a year after its warranty.
