Spent way too much time playing video games and not enough time reading actual physical books. My earnings have doubled in 5 years since I started reading regularly.

It’s the “KNOWLEDGE” guy from those YouTube ads

I’d love to hear more about this. Why do you think reading contributed to your earnings growth?

The real story is very probably that the portion of time they spent pursuing leisure went down in favor of far better sleep and paying more attention to everything else in life. Once you stopped researching things for wow or browsing the store or looking up stuff about whatever game you’re into, you pay attention to the rest of your real life.

There's no real correlation but let's hear what op has to say

Definitely correlated but absolutely not the cause of his success.

It's not really the books that contributed in his growth , it's the lack of dopamine hit that came from video games which made him work .

Let’s hear how

How did reading increase your Paycheck?

That’s awesome I’m happy to hear

Opposite. I read 4 books in one day at 12 years old, and I made $0 that year.

Now in my 30s and playing video games 8 hours a day, I'm making infinitely more!

Chicken or the egg, you don't make more cause you play video games, you play video games cause you make more and don't have to work as much!

/jk obviously, but it's interesting seeing how anecdotal some things can be

Edit- didn't actually read your comment and get the joke, but my point still stands lol

I’ve been reading regularly but haven’t had my earnings double, I guess I have to do the opposite and play a fuck ton of games.

Sorry, I can't agree with your statement. Time you enjoy wasting is not time wasted. You can't just optimize your life and speedrun through it with a checklist full of checkboxes to check

Not only physical books but there are tons of non fiction and historical books online in the form of PDFs or even Wikipedia or similar. Like I genuinely challenge any of you to go read how a nuclear reactor or a steam engine works. You'll read just as many words and also discover the magic of science. Also it's very interesting. Books are fun but some people have trouble relating with stories and can adhere to non fiction better.
